There re many undeniable connections between these people.  Some the connections are more fluent but there can be no doubt the influences existed and are proven to have existed. The List is by no means exhausted or complete.

In turn an entire generation of believers were influence with the teachings of another gospel.

In a recent debate on the issue of Joyce Meyers, the argument went something like this:

“But people are getting saved through her ministry”

The idea being that if Joyce and her fellow prosperity teachers are saving souls they cant be that bad.   I have a friend whose father in Law went to a Benny Hinn crusade and went forward to be saved.  After that they would not hear anything bad about Benny.

NOW IT A FAIR ENOUGH QUESTION IF THEY ARE WINNING CONVERTS SURELY THAT CAN’T BE BAD?

Now please notice that I have change the wording from actually being saved to winning converts, because numbers are not really a basis to determine if someone is genuine.  The appeal to converts does not in itself determine the message.  There is no doubt many cults including the rev Sun Moon of the unification church  and even Islam  all groupingboast in their numbers  as the principle basis that numbers somehow equals truth.   Yet we know their message is in no way genuine.

So the number game does not determine the message or the fruit.  Jesus had few followers at the end and yet his message and fruit was more than genuine.   Sadly it has become the principle debate that mega churches are automatically right simply because of their numbers.    We can’t go on that basis.  As scripture says Broad is the road that leads to destruction, and narrow is the road that leads to life.  The broad road is easy to find, but the narrow is so much harder to find, never mind squeeze through.

THE GOSPEL IS PREACHED FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS, SOME OF WHICH IS NOT ALWAYS OUT OF A GENUINE MOTIVE.

Phil 1: 16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds.

Just because someone preaches a gospel message:  Appears to use all the right terminology and even makes an altar call, is no guarantee they are the genuine article.  People have preached the gospel for many reasons.  Some of which have been for reasons altogether insincere.  Many have done so because there were dollar signs attached.   Such as with the case of Marjoe Gortner who for many years went on the preaching circuit, and accumulated vast sums of wealth.   He was brought up by his parents to be the boy preacher.  Many believed on him, followed him.  He preached and prayed for the sick and could speak in tongues as good as anyone.    Yet he is on record as never ever being a true believer.  He could say all the right things and make all the right moves, but was never the genuine article.   Yet how many bought into this mans message and dare I say anointing?  Just because a man claims he is anointed, does not mean he is?  In the end he did a final preaching tour with a camera team to expose just how easy people could be deceived.  Sadly many missed the lesson!!!!

2 Peter 2: 16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet

BUT WHAT IF A PERSON GETS SAVED THROUGH A FALSE TEACHER?

Balaam’s was rebuked by his ass and what the ass said was true.  Now did ass gather a following afterwards?  Just because a ass bore some fruit does not mean we should all follow the ass.  The ass may have been used once but the ass remained just an ass.    So someone may have been witness to by something someone said.  Still does not mean we follow the ass.    Plus and what makes this all the more important is the preacher is not the one who does the saving, God does.  Yet in listening to some you can’t help walk away with the thought that the preacher becomes the one who does.

There is an interesting line to point out here.  The messenger is still only the messenger.  A sign post on the road is still only a sign post, but he is never the vehicle that takes you to the end of the road.    So even if someone is convinced by an individual, like Joyce Meyers.  Joyce is not the one who saves, God alone saves the lost soul.  What many are actually pointing to is the fact that Copeland Osteen Meyers or the many others are actually doing is winning converts to themselves, rather than to the Lord.

IF NOT SAVED , THEN WHAT ARE THEY SAVED TO?

Heb 4: 2 For unto us was the gospelpreached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard [it].

It would seem that in some conversation with people, it becomes clear that it is not a matter that people are being saved to know the Lord, But that they are being converted to a certain individual.  What happens is that the convert instead of running after God, spends their time running after the messenger.  When the messenger falls the converts fall away.  It may not always happen,  they may come through to a genuine path and therefore to a genuine faith.  But when trust is misplaced and these pillow prophets will often package their message in such as way that they place themselves central to their message.  That people inevitable follow the individual thinking they are following God..

IT’S ALL IN HOW THE MESSAGE IS PACKAGED

There is great subtly in the way the prosperity message is packaged.  There is almost a two tier lever of consciousness to their message.  Yet whilst many hear one level they will embrace both.  One is a very vocal top message that’s very positive.   This message is very comfortable to embrace, health peace financial stability, divine health and how to love oneself.

There is a lot what I call mixture, where both truth and error are all blended in together and it takes almost a blowtorch to separate the two.

But the core lever of the message which drives the top message is altogether prejudice against the truth of scripture.  Both are inevitably embraced without the realisation that the core message is poison and dangerous to the soul.  I have talked with a number of Prosperity believers who would argue blind that Copeland, Hagin and others did not teach a specific aspect of their message.  Yet in the continual conversation on the subject they would begin to mimic the very thing they denied previously.  It is both curious and alarming that the individuals do not see this reality.  It takes some persuasion before even they begin to see that the truth of the falseness of these teachers is actually coming out of their own mouths.

The final level is probably the worst in this regard that they both see believe and accept that what is being taught by these people is not accord with scripture.  It is almost impossible to reach them without God.  At this level the individuals are so persuaded, and their conscience has been so seared and hardened that it almost impossible to reach.    They know what they believe and could not care that the doctrine they pursue is error.

To put is bluntly people are being brainwashed by this heresy.  Because this message is often repeated word for word, with only minor changes people are becoming subconsciously persuaded by it. Just as people are persuaded to buy the next new product on the market, so people are being persuaded in the same way.  The constant repetition of any product is eventually picked up by some consumer, so the message if listen to on a regular basis on Books TV and tape will eventually hit its mark.

I know of another dear friend who was involved in a church that embraced this heresy many years ago.  Whilst he knows that the prosperity teaching is wrong.  He totally rejects it as heresy.  Yet there are times he comes out with something that I can tell is from the prosperity Message.  Unless you are fully aware of why how and where you can miss the subtitle of this heresy, but once you see and grasp where it is wrong it sticks out like a boulder.

UCMINISTRIES :  The following is a testimony of someone who was in the Word of faith movement and saw things from the inside.  His concerns eventually drew him out of this movement.  The testimony is not mine and therefore I can’t take credit for it.   Please read this testimony with an open mind and aSk yourself what really did go on with Kenneth Hagin?

AFTER I RETURNED HOME FROM MICHIGAN, MY DOUBTS ABOUT KENNETH HAGIN, HIS TEACHINGS, AND HIS VISIONS BEGAN TO SWIRL AROUND IN MY HEAD LIKE A HURRICANE. I ALREADY HAVE A TOUCH OF OBSESSIVE, COMPULSIVE BEHAVIOR CONCERNING RELIGION, SO AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, THESE DOUBTS REALLY GOT A HOLD OF ME.

FIRST, LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT A STRANGE EXPERIENCE THAT I HAD SHORTLY AFTER WE HAD BOUGHT THE CHURCH PROPERTY AND MOVED OUR OFFICES INTO THE GUEST HOUSE. I HAD BEEN SURFING THE WEB, LOOKING UP KENNETH HAGIN ON GOOGLE, AS I FREQUENTLY DID. I WAS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW SERMONS, STORIES OR BITS OF INFORMATION ABOUT HIM.

NOW ANYONE THAT HAS EVER GOOGLED KENNETH HAGIN WILL FIND OUT IN A HURRY THAT THERE ARE LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF BLOGS, WEB SITES, VIDEOS, YOU TUBES AND SUCH THAT ATTACK HIM AND HIS TEACHING, BOTH PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY. THESE ARTICLES HAD ALWAYS GREATLY BOTHERED ME AND I WOULD ALWAYS TRY TO AVOID THEM. BUT ONE AFTERNOON I STARTED READING THEM.

I GOT A SICK, TWISTED, AWFUL FEELING IN MY STOMACH. I BECAME UPSET. ALL OF THESE THEOLOGIANS, EXPERTS, WRITERS, MINISTERS AND FORMER WORD OF FAITH PEOPLE WERE SHOOTING ALL KINDS OF HOLES IN BOTH HAGIN’S TEACHINGS AND TESTIMONIES. THIS REALLY BOTHERED ME. MOST EVERYTHING THAT I BELIEVED ABOUT GOD AND THE BIBLE HAD BEEN INFLUENCED BY KENNETH HAGINS TEACHINGS.

THEN SUDDENLY A THOUGHT FLASHED THROUGH MY MIND: “ONE DAY YOU WILL ATTACK KENNETH HAGIN’S TEACHING MORE THAN ANY OF THESE PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET”. OF COURSE I DISMISSED THIS AS THE DEVIL. BUT I REMEMBERED IT. IT SCARED ME. WAS IT THE VOICE OF GOD? WAS IT MY CONFUSION SPEAKING? MY SUBCONSCIOUS? I HAVE NO IDEA!

I BEGAN TO ASK GOD TO OPEN MY EYES IF I WAS IN DECEPTION. WAS KENNETH HAGIN A TRUE PROPHET OF GOD? DID HE REALLY MEET JESUS FACE TO FACE IN EIGHT SEPERATE TEACHING VISIONS? DID KENNETH HAGIN REALLY VISIT JESUS UP IN FRONT OF THE THRONE ROOM OF GOD ALMIGHTY? DID JESUS CHRIST REALLY LAY HIS HANDS ON KENNETH HAGIN TO GIVE HIM A SPECIAL HEALING ANOINTING? DOD ANGELS REALLY APPEAR TO HIM? HAD KENNETH HAGIN REALLY HEARD THE AUDIBLE VOICE OF GOD ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS?

HAD I EVER SEEN KENNETH HAGIN HEAL ANYONE? HAD I EVER SEEN HIM PREFORM A REAL MIRACLE? KENNETH HAGIN HAD ALWAYS TESTIFIED THAT HE HAD BEEN BORN WITH A DEFORMED HEART AND A RARE INCURABLE BLOOD DISEASE, AND THAT HE WAS HEALED BY ACTING ON MARK 11:24 AFTER BEING TAUGHT HOW TO OPERATE IN FAITH BY JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF. BUT HAD I EVER EVEN HEARD OF THE TRUE DIAGNOSIS AND NAME OF THE DISEASE?

HAD I EVER SEEN MEDICAL REPORTS OR DOCTORS TESTIMONY ABOUT THIS HEALING MIRACLE? WHAT WAS THE NAME OF THE BLOOD DISEASE? HE HAD SAID THAT HIS BLOOD WAS WATERY AND ORANGE. WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HIM? HAD I EVER HEARD ANY EYE WITNESSES TESTIFY TO THIS MIRACLE? ANY DOCTORS? ANY PUBLISHED MEDICAL DOCUMENTATION? NO!

WHAT ABOUT THE PLAGIARISM CHARGES AND DENIALS? IT WAS AND IS A KNOWN FACT THAT KENNETH HAGIN PLAGIARIZED THE NEW AGE WRITINGS OF EW KENYON AND CLAIMED TO HAVE RECEIVED THEM FROM THE SPIRIT OF GOD. I KNOW THAT HE WAS SUED BY KENYON’S DAUGHTER OVER THIS, AND THAT THEY SETTLED OUT OF COURT, BUT WHY DID HAGIN NEVER CLEAR THIS UP PUBLICLY? I HAD SEEN THE SIDE BY SIDE EVIDENCE MANY TIMES. HAD KENNETH HAGIN OUT RIGHT LIED?

WHAT ABOUT KENNETH HAGIN’S CLAIMS TO HAVE WALKED IN DIVINE HEALTH AND NEVER BEING SICK? I HAD A FRIEND THAT WAS A PHARMACY TECH AT ST. FRANCIS HOSPITAL IN TUKLSA, THAT WAS ALSO A FELLOW RHEMA GRAD. HE TOLD ME THAT HE HAD FILLED KENNETH HAGIN’S HEART MEDICINE FOR YEARS AT THE PHARMACY. SO, WAS KENNETH HAGIN BEING MISLEADING IN HIS TEACHING ABOUT WALKING IN DIVINE HEALTH?

I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT KENNETH HAGIN’S WIFE WAS TREATED FOR CANCER FOR YEARS. WHY DIDN’T THAT SPECIAL HEALING ANOINTING WORK FOR HER? WHY HAD I NOT SEEN ANY HEALINGS AND MIRACLES IN ANY OF THE HUNDREDS OF SERVICES AND CLASSES THAT I ATTENDED FOR FOURTEEN YEARS? WHY WOULDN’T KENNETH HAGIN TALK TO ME AND CONI AFTER OUR DAUGHTER JENNIFER DIED OF A BRAIN TUMOR? WHY DID SO MANY CLOSE ASSOCIATES AND FAMILY MEMBERS OF KENNETH HAGIN GOT CANCER AND DIE JUST LIKE REGUALR FOLKS IF HAGIN HAD THIS SPECIAL ANOINTING?

THE QUESTIONS WERE SWIRLING, I COULD NOT SLEEP, AND NO ONE AT RHEMA WOULD ANSWER MY QUESTIONS.

Jer 17: 5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed [be] the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD

2Cr 1:9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

Yet is this the confession of the Word of Faith teachers?

We (the church) are Christ. (Kenneth Hagin, As Christ is — So are we, Tape #44H06)

The Christian “is as much an incarnation as was Jesus of Nazareth.” (Kenneth Hagin, “The Incarnation,” THE WORD OF FAITH (Dec. 1980), 14.)

“Man is a spirit who possesses a soul and lives in a body…., He is in the same class with God. …We know that God is a Spirit. And yet [He] took upon Himself a man’s body….when God took upon Himself human form, He was no less God than when He didn’t have a body. Man, at physical death, leaves his as he was when he had his body.” (Kenneth Hagin, Man of Three Dimensions [Tulsa: Faith Library, 1973]

“[Man] was created on terms of equality with God, and he could stand in God’s presence without any consciousness of inferiority…God made us as much like Himself as possible…He made us the same class of being that He is Himself…Man lived in the realm of God. He lived on terms equal with God…[The] believer is called Christ…That’s who we are; we’re Christ” (Kenneth Hagin, Zoe: The God-Kind of Life, 1989. pp. 35-36, 41)

One of the major problems that word of faith believers have to cope with is the need to keep trying to reassure themselves that they are gods.. That means having to try to live up to an elevated level of a god. Whose heights are so high, and the air so thin that they almost fall over with the sheer magnitude of their boasting.

Now to be fed a daily dose like the above teachings that one can be in the very same class as God. He can do what God does; speak as God does, use the same faith as God does, Create as God does. God himself is more like us. It all becomes a heavy opium of positive emotions that few can resist, a positivity that is centered around oneself and specifically on ones confession. But the need to keep bolstering this image has to be a daily battle.

In The Force of Love, another sermon tape, Kenneth Copeland states, “You don’t have a god in you, you are one.“

Earl Paulk of the Harvester Church in Atlanta, Georgia, in his work, Satan Unmasked, explains it like this: “Adam and Eve were placed in the world as the seed and expression of God. Just as dogs have puppies and cats have kittens, so God has little gods; we have trouble comprehending this truth. Until we comprehend that we are little gods, we cannot manifest the kingdom of God” (p. 97).

Cats and dogs may reproduce, but God did not copulate in order to create man. Such foolishness is astounding.

In his book Agony of Deceit, Michael Horton has documented Kenneth Copeland in a 19 July 1987 crusade as saying, “I say this and repeat it so it don’t upset you too bad. When I read in the Bible where He (Jesus ) says, I AM, I say, Yes, I am too!” (p. 268). In John 8:58, I AM is a self proclamation of Jesus own unique Deity from Exodus 3:14, 15.

Few however realize the sheer magnitude and consequences to such teaching, never mind the effect it has on people’s minds. These teachers then live on a constant high that leads them to believe that they have something the rest of us poor lowly creatures don’t. They become full of stinking pride that’s boasts in their position and revelation. If you cant see your own godhead tough luck. They have ascended the height and now dwell in the place of the most high. They have arrived at a revelation where even God himself must submit to their confessions. Their confessions become God. It rules over their universes and they are the gods within that universe. They then have to see themselves as RICH HEALTHY PROSPEROUS and SUCCESSFUL. Never mind the fact that they could be BROKE ILL and anything BUT PROSPEROUS. It does not matter, mind over matter; confession over reality; What they speak forth must become reality.

Living in a world they think has to bow to their confessions. Pride overwhelms them and they can’t be told. That would be embracing a negative confession. The battlefield becomes an issue of negative over the positive. They don’t see that the real issue is truth and error. Sometimes truth can be negative and error seen as positive. That does not matter, being equal to God does. They are towering above the rest of humanity and God help anyone who does not see the world as they do.

Rev 3: 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

They boasted a positive confession but the reality was so very different.

Scripture reveals their true reality: POOR WRETCHED AND BLIND.

Rev 3: 18-19 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

How many of these prosperity teachers would relate such negative statements as this apostle has?. It was not in their confession or even in their goods, but in their relationship with God. You can be poor materially but still be rich in the things of God,

1 Cor 4: 11-13 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place. And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, [and are] the off scouring of all things unto this day.

Can we see any of the Word of faith teachers today relate to such a testimony? It’s hard to see oneself as a god when one is poor, imprisoned hungry and thirsty.

In the end if they take their confession to its obvious conclusions they are left with a superstitious belief where a negative confession has to be immediately replaced by a positive one. As the tongue is such an unruly member a confession blurted out in the heat of the moment is still a confession. Negative confessions may bring sickness and even death. But a positive one will acquire for them all that THEY WANT. It is not a matter of surrendering one’s life to God but that creation has to surrender to them. The focus becomes self rather than God.

In the end fear becomes the solitary agreement that a negative confession might lead them to their undoing. So they are forever watching what they say lest the power in their tongues brings them to their own destruction.

God has made it clear HE WILL NOT SHARE HIS GLORY WITH ANOTHER.

He stands unique and alone as the ONE TRUE GOD. He will have no rivals, no competition. Kingdoms may come and go, but his will stand forever. Men will live and die but he cannot. Men can boast of their achievements but God alone brings all his plans to success. A life is but for a moment But God alone is immortal and eternal. Men may place their faith in themselves but the arm of the flesh will fail them.

Humility is the enemy of such teachers. The stark reminder that our faith must forever rest in Gods will. It is not in the heavy heights we find God but on our knees in humility and the realization that we cannot, but he can. The stark reality not my will be done but his.

James 4: 10 humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up

It does not say lift yourself up!!!!

Here is an interesting quote from another article that I had to quote from. I cannot underestimate the dangers of this philosophy. It’s well worth reading the whole article to capture what the writer sharing.

“Faith in Doctrines of Demons (1 Timothy 4:1-5) leads to Fear and Death!
Guilt is generally brought about by the tension generated when one was positively confessing but getting no results. According to the Word-Faith position, no results equals lack of faith or open sin in one’s life. This can, and usually does, cause excessive introspection and a tremendous guilt feelings. Sometimes the guilt is real and needs to be dealt with, but often there is no reason for the feelings. Whatever the person was positively confessing was not in God’s plan and He is not going to bring it about.

Fear comes from two areas. First is the obsessive compulsion to be positive in every word. Even using phrases such as “I’m just dying to do that” or “that joke just tickled me to death,” release satanic powers, say the Word-Faith teachers (The Tongue – A Creative Force, p. 90-92). People become afraid that they are going to slip up, utter a negative word, and give a place to Satan. Secondly, fear is a corollary to the guilt mentioned above. Fear and guilt usually work in a downward spiral. One feels guilty because of supposed lack of faith, then afraid because the confession is not “working.” Then there is more guilt, then more fear, and so on down into further despair. This cycle can be extremely spiritually and physically debilitating. All of these spiritual and psychological difficulties can be directly attributed to elevating man to the false position of being a god and saying that he has powers far greater than he really does.” Source http://watchmanforjesus.blogspot.co.uk/2010/02/truth-and-danger-about-word-faith.html

The writer is absolutely correct in his observation.

One more recent worshiper of the faith teachings had this to say :

God had become a man,and ceases to be God. Jesus was a man,and the Bible says that God became a man and ceases to become God, for He,who is God left His powers and set aside His status and Being as God. Jesus was 100% human.

The ramification is that if God ceased to be God then he is no longer God. Gods immutability is called into question. Yet at the same time the Word of faith teaches exalt themselves as gods, elevating man whilst denigrating God. They blur the distinction between the two. However history has always shown that men who come to proclaim their own deity begin to come under the judgement of God. Pharaoh and even the emperor of Rome were often smitten with such delusions and we know how they ended up.

Jer 17: 5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed [be] the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD

When men place their faith in their faith rather than in the God of their faith they are destined to fail. Man can no more save himself by their confessions than raise the titanic in its original condition. It’s not a matter of not seeing the truth but their pride stops them wanting to see the truth.

Some have tried to take this teaching to its obvious conclusion and suffered humiliation and defeat. Nor was it a lack of faith in their part. It was only where they tried to place their faith that was the problem. Their stubbornness and unwillingness to see that the fruit was rotten led to countless sufferings and death.

The name of DR HOBART FREEMAN will live on in infamy. He was a Word of Faith teacher & pastor of Faith Assembly – over 90 people died in his church following his teaching and then Hobart died due to a medically treatable disease.

Many of those who came out of this experience have been emotionally traumatized..

THE EVENTUAL REALIZATION THAT WHAT THEY CONFESS THEY DON’T POSSESS!!!

We have seen enough evidence to conclude that the Word-Faith message is a dangerous soul-destroying heresy that simply does not work. It is a body of presumptuous teachings that lacks the authority of the Word of God. It is a system of thinking that has been generated by a group of men drawing from each others teachings with an amalgamation of Christian theology, mysticism and Gnosticism bound together by one of the most fanciful methods of Scripture interpretation ever devised. All of this is buttressed by a mutual admiration society among the most popular of the Word-Faith teachers that admonishes critics to “touch not the Lord’s anointed,” often under dire threats of divine displeasure.

The Watchman Ministry has coined this heresy very well, because it is SOUL DESTROYING.

If you want to read some testimonies by people who have come out of this teaching press

Recently News has spread that Todd Bentley was in Britain preaching.  It took me a little while to track down what church in Wales he was visiting.  Now we have thanks to Todd Bentley own face book site.  The church was pastor by Robert and Helen King  and is called TWO LOCKS CHURCH.

The church advertises itself :

Two Locks Church is Independent, Christ-centred, Bible-based, and charismatic. Every Sunday we have people from all different walks of life and of different nationalities meeting in harmony to celebrate Christ and his Kingdom.

One of the main feature along with a puppet ministry is a “TACF Soaking Centre.

Mr and Mrs King with Mr and Mrs Bentley

SOAKING  Is just a christianised form of  Transcendental Meditation, which is also popular with the Todd Bentley.

Affiliations & links: Evangelical Alliance, Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship .  (This description just about says it all.)

On its blog where some of the pastors teaching Robert makes this statement:

God has given us His faith, you either have it or you don’t and when we become disciples of Him He gives us His faith.  There is never a day when we are faithless as the faith He put on the inside of us doesn’t come and go! We can step out in faith every day, it’s not about how we feel, it’s about what He has given us…..  This is not about ‘my faith’ it’s about ‘His faith’ living in me….For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)

Is a Christian’s faith always alive?  James 2:17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. (NKJV)  In other words, it doesn’t do anything if we don’t use it!  Jesus said, ‘You will lay hands on the sick and they will recover!’ But if we don’t lay hands on the sick then nothing will happen!

Confess this truth out loud now, ‘He’s given me His faith and His faith works’”

The terminology of receiving “Gods faith” is usually reminiscent of word of Faith teachings so common with Kenneth Hagin .    God himself does not need faith.  As faith means trusting in someone, who is God going to put his trust in?  God can impart faith to the believer to help us have faith in God, but God himself does not need faith.  Then there is the confessing “this truth” Also very reminiscent of Word of Faith.  Where those who confess believe they will possess.  In the end it is not God they put their trust in but the words they confess.   By making and speaking the right words you will create your own reality.  However that is nothing more than New Age witchcraft.  Words spoken in the right way is nothing more than reciting a spell.

It has been my understanding that Todd has been gravitating towards Kenneth Hagin’s  Occult teachings for some time.  This has now been proven by his latest teaching called:

THE POWER OF PROPHETIC DECREES

As you read a part of Todd’s Article, you will soon notice that it’s full of typical buzz words which the prosperity teachers are noted for.

This is a two-part teaching entitled, The Power of Prophetic Decrees. Part 1 will help you understand why God gives us prophetic words, visions, and revelations, and examines and uncovers those things that hinder the fulfillment of God’s prophetic word in our lives. Many are missing the mark of their calling, and the words that have come to us from God remain unfulfilled. Next week’s Part 2 teaching will continue with the quest for success in appropriating what God has promised us. We’ll learn how to war for our words, and how we can effectively shoot prophetic arrows into the heavens to “scatter the demonic cohorts.”

How many prophetic promises and words spoken over your life have you yet to see birthed? Every believer has prophetic promises from heaven whether God has revealed something that we would accomplish for Him, something that we would become, or something that we would see Him do in our lifetime. Prophetic words are authoritative words that Scripture says we would “do well to pay attention to” (2 Peter 1:19).

Countless believers have waited years to realize the fulfillment of prophetic words spoken over them, or revelations from visions or dreams. Do you ever wonder what to do with them, how to act upon them, or how to ensure the fulfillment of them in your life or ministry? How do we bring the words of the Lord to pass? What hinders the fulfillment of them?

Recently, the Lord showed me that through our prophetic decrees, He also releases angels to battle the forces of the enemy to bring us what is rightfully ours! That’s part of their job description!

I hope to give some insight in this teaching on how you can make prophetic decrees and proclamations into the heavens, which will hasten and bring to pass the Word of the Lord. I want you to understand your responsibility with God-given promises and visions and how you can partner with God to realize your destiny.

Prophetic words and promises are personal, specific to our lives as individuals, our families, or our ministries. They may also be intended for cities, regions, peoples, and nations. They are always in line with the Word, the Bible right from Genesis through to Revelation. However, I want to focus primarily on those words that God has given to us personally, those rhema words. Rhema words and God’s Word are a powerful combination that can activate our divine destiny

>>>IT’S OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BIRTH HIS WORD<<<<

>>>LET IT BE TO ME ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD<<<<

Know your authority, and be vigilant. Even Mary understood this principle regarding prophetic words. After her prophetic word from the angel she responded and prophetically decreed, “Let it be to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). She lined herself up with the Word from heaven, pulled it out of the spiritual realm into existence, and birthed it.

In Him Todd Bentley Fresh Fire USA

The major flaw with Kenneth Hagin was his teachings on THE RHEMA WORD.  Like many false teachers who want to introduce extra Biblical teachings he had to separate the Bible (logos) written word for the NEW PROPHETIC WORD of Kenneth Hagin.  Thus he elevated the word  Rhema and with it his teachings above the Bible.  Thus the bible itself was judged according to his revelation and not the other way round.

For a Further study on the RHEMA  and how the New testament writers used  them  click here. or go over to my Box account and scroll down until you see the article on the truth about the rhema  word.

What many do not realise is that Rhema and Logos where used interchangeable throughout the New Testament and applied to both the written and spoken word of God.  The New Testament writers did not make any separation in how both those words were used.

For many who feel the need to go around making decrees or a Positive confession about their healings.  There are plenty of grave yards full of people who confessed but never possessed.  But the saddest part was the lies they told in confessing their healings when they were never healed.

It looks like both Todd Bentley and Two Locks Church have a lot more of a connection than just being charismatic. We must also remind ourselves that despite all his bold confession of prophetic decrees his own marriage failed.  I suspect he had no intention of saving it either.  What we must remember is that Todd Bentley is a blatant adulterer and now parades his adultery everywhere he goes

Churches are NOW  supposed to look the other way and say AMEN and BLESS YOU!!!!.  It only shows how far the church has slipped and prostituted itself.  Any Pastor with an ounce of integrity would send this pimp packing.   The sad state of the charismatic movement today is the ever-growing desperation for signs and wonder.  Such is the desperation that just about anything and everything is tolerated.   I fear that this desperation will set many up for an end time deception.  The Bible clearly warns us and yet today many ignore that warning at their own peril.  This drive for signs and wonders has become nothing more than an addiction, and men like Bentley feed it.   Like all addictions eventually people will not bother where they get their highs from, so long as they get their weekly fix

There may be some who will say  “ But he has repented “ ,  but I would say how did he show his repentance?

Go back to his wife and ask forgiveness?  NO.   He simply carried on with his adultery, divorced his wife and married his mistress.  That’s not repentance.  To repent is to change direction.  Todd never changed direction.  In the end he got exactly what he wanted.   Repentance is more than simply saying sorry and carrying on regardless.  What many saw with Todd and Rick Joyner famous video chats was nothing more than a sham of a show piece.  Far too many people had invested too much money, time and predictions to simply let Todd simply disappear from the scene.

The one thing we can be certain of is that those who desire to get into bed with the Todd Bentley’s of this world is that they  have no love for the truth,  and no love  for God,

2 Tim 4: 20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick

Praying for the sick has always been part of Christian ministry.  It is both Biblical and normal.  As a Christian I can affirm that God can and does answer the prayer of the sick.  So this article is not based on some anti healing stance.  But it is the acknowledgement that as Christians we do need far more wisdom and practical common sense when praying for the sick.

James 5: 15  And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him

So while praying for the sick is encouraged, not even the apostle Paul could heal on demand.

This article drew my attention recently, especially considering who the pastor of this movement is.  So once again the whole controversy of healing has cropped up.

At least six people have died in Britain after being told that they had been healed of HIV, and could stop taking their medication.

There is evidence that evangelical churches in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow are claiming to cure HIV through God.

We sent three undercover reporters into the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) , which is based in Southwark, south London.

All of them told the pastors that they were HIV positive. All were told that they could be healed.

Once a month the church has a prayer line, where people from across Europe come to be cured of all kinds of illness.

At registration they have to hand over a doctor’s letter as evidence of their condition

They are filmed giving before and after testimonies, which are put on SCOAN’s website.

The healing process involves the pastor shouting, over the person being healed, for the devil to come out of their body, and spraying water in their face.

One of the pastors, Rachel Holmes, told our reporter, Shatila, who is a genuine HIV sufferer, they had a 100% success rate.

“We have many people that contract HIV. All are healed.”

She said if symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhoea persist, it is actually a sign of the virus leaving the body.

“We’ve had people come back before saying ‘Oh I’m not healed. The diarrhoea I had when I had HIV, I’ve got it again.’ I have to stop them and say ‘no, please, you are free.'”

SCOAN told our reporters they would be able to discard their medication after their healing and that they would be free to start a family.

Former health secretary Lord Fowler, who led the HIV/Aids awareness drive in the 1980s, says this message is dangerous.

“It is foolish advice and it is tragic advice because the consequences of this kind of advice can only be that people pass on HIV and can only be seriously bad for the individual concerned – including death.”

Medical professionals have told Sky News of at least six patients who have died after being told by various churches to stop taking their HIV tablets.

Emmanuel came off his medication a year ago, on the instructions of a pastor at his church in North London.

“He told me I’d been healed: ‘You’ve got to stop taking the medicine now. I’ll keep praying for you. Once God forgives you then the disease will definitely go.'”

Emmanuel admits he suspects he may have passed his HIV onto his boyfriend.

“Yeah, I think I’ve passed it on. He got ill. Physically he’s lost some bit of weight. He’s very small. I think he’s worried… Yeah I feel guilty, if I’m the one who passed it onto him I’m feeling guilty. Yeah very much guilty.”

The Synagogue Church of All Nations is wealthy. It has branches across the globe and its own TV channel.

On its website it promotes its anointing water, which is used during the healing, and it also makes money from merchandise, such as DVDs, CDs and books.

Church members are expected to give regular donations.

It is also a registered UK charity. The Charity Commission is looking at our findings.

The Department of Health says it is very concerned: “Our advice is clear that faith and prayer are not a substitute for any form of treatment, especially for HIV treatment.”

Sky News asked the church for its response to our investigation. Here is its statement:

“We are not the Healer; God is the Healer. Never a sickness God cannot heal. Never a disease God cannot cure. Never a burden God cannot bear. Never a problem God cannot solve.

“To His power, nothing is impossible. We have not done anything to bring about healing, deliverance or prosperity. If somebody is healed, it is God who heals.

“We must have a genuine desire if we come to God. We are not in position to question anybody’s genuine desire. Only God knows if one comes with true desire. Only God can determine this.

“That is why, if anybody comes in the name of God, we pray for them. The outcome of the prayer will determine if they come genuinely or not

IT IS NOT A SIN TO SEEK VERIFICATION OF A HEALING!

SCOAN’s or The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations is pastored by T.B.Joshua Whose church is situated in Nigeria.    Both the Pastor and the church have had a cloud of controversy hanging over it for some time.  Maybe the worst part is that many are learning their trade from TV evangelist, Building mega churches, coupled with big claims, an over the top positive messages and money making schemes.

However the idea that one must prove ones faith by giving up the medication as some act of faith has been disastrous.  There are countless grave yards filled by people who claimed healing or were told they were healed; persuaded that they no longer needed life saving medication; Only to die of the disease they were told they were cured of.   This has done nothing but brought reproach to the name of Jesus and the work of the gospel.  The fact that people have been healed via prayed should never be in doubt.  However wisdom also demands that verification should not be seen as a lack of faith.  Medication should never be stopped until ones healing are verified.  God is as much in the skill of the hands of a surgeon as he is in healing a wrecked body.  God is not embarrassed by someone confirming their healing.  Even Jesus told the people he cured to go to the priests.  Like many faith healers when the healing does not occur they blame everyone except themselves.  The excuses range from you lacked faith, or its Gods responsibility.  Or the symptoms are really the devil trying to put that sickness back on you.  So everyone else’s fault but their own.

Every so often a church or ministry pops up about healing services.   Often wild claims of healing are boasted.  Sadly few can be authenticated and far too many are exposed as fraud.   God is not glorified by lies or deception.  Today the techniques used to implement many of these healing services are recognized.  The hype and anticipation of a service; the type of music used; the long period of repetitive style of music which dulls the sensitivity.  The style of preaching that almost guarantees miracles will happen.  All can become part of the drama that can lure the average person into believing something has happened, when nothing has changed.

The sad and sordid story of ministries who have been based on healing has been both tragic and scandalous.

Those who were unable to bring healing to themselves.

John Osteen, Word of Faith mega-church pastor in Houston – his wife, Dodie got liver cancer and through the mercy of God and medical attention survived.

Frederick K. Price, Word of Faith mega-church pastor in Los Angeles – his wife, Betty got cancer and was medically treated (chemo-therapy) and by the mercy of God was patched up.

Jamie Buckingham, Discipleship Movement & charismatic author – died of cancer. Jamies too was under a medical doctors care.

Charles Capps, Word of Faith teacher, teaches power of our words to create reality – his wife got cancer and was medically treated.

John Wimber, Signs & Wonders Movement, author of “Power Healing,” –  died from cancer. He too, was medically treated – no “power” healing for him, only chemo-therapy.

Mack Timberlake, Word of Faith pastor – suffering from throat cancer, getting medical attention.

R.W. Schambach, Faith Healer – got a quadruple heart bypass (from a real live human doctor)

Dr. Hobart Freeman, Word of Faith teacher & pastor of Faith Assembly – over 90 people died in his church following his teaching and then Hobart died due to a medically treatable disease.

Prophet Keith Grayton, Prophetic Movement – died of the complications of AIDS
He spoke at our Church in Detroit, and declared he was totally healed. He died a year or so later.

Kenneth Hagin, “father” of the Word of Faith Movement – sister died of cancer, (he wears glasses) Hagin’s great faith and special anointing could not keep her on the planet. Hagin  recently died in a “cardiac intensive care unit from the very condition he claimed he was healed from.

Katherine Khulman – an acknowledged divine healer DIED from heart disease in Ann Arbor Michigan.
A.A. Allen – an acknowledged divine healer and exorcist DIED from alcohol & drug abuse.

Aimee Semple McPherson – an acknowledge divine healer – died of a barbituate overdose. Why was she taking pills in the first place? Wasn’t the “peace” of God enough for her?

Jack Coe – an acknowledged divine healer DIED from disease.

Lonnie Frisbee -Died from AIDS in 1993,

Todd Bentley – Despite his many claims he was unable to heal his marriage.  One particular cancer patient who was kneed in the groin by Todd was later to have died from his illness.

Benny Hinn –  Has also been seen wearing glasses. Sadly he too was unable to save his marriage.

Almost all of these ministries in one form or another were based around the same principle of confession, naming and claiming. The basic premise that God is bound by what we do and say.

Some went so far as to reject medicine, doctors and treatment because it was a sign of lack of faith.  Some who had not received their healing on cue simply lied and went about telling people they were healed when no such healing had taken place. Others spend quite a bit of time running back and forth, from one healing minister to another to acquire that all important healing.  When the one person they should be talking it over with is never consulted.

What is needed is to learn from these men’s failure, and make a real difference as to how we conduct healing services.

Healing is based not on mans failure but in God faithfulness.

Practical wisdom was all that was needed.  True faith in God rests the matter with God.

No minister should make a promise , if he is not the one to provide the cure.

No minister should ever tell anyone to give up medication until the healing has been proven.

No minister should make excuses for lack of results.

No minister needs to see himself or God in conflict with the medical establishment.

All ministers must recognise that healing comes in Gods time and not ours.  If a surgeon heavenly or earthly is Gods chosen hand, then we must be prepared to say Amen to it.

It must also be recognised that God does not heal on cue.  He is no mans debtor nor any mans servant.

Healing is not prime time TV.

Kenneth Hagin took what was an obscure Greek word and turned it into an idol.  Many within the Pentecostal movement then went and bowed down before this idol,    Hundreds were decieved by this man.  Only God knows the eternal consequences for Kenneth Hagin and the many who have chosen to follow this man.

EVOLUTION OF GNOSTISIM

The concept of the “rhema” became the flagship of Hagins doctrines.  Just about everything was built on this.  Today we can have Rhema FM radio, Rhema ranch, Rhema Theatre Company a rhema Basketball team, and rhema churches with rhema boys and girls clubs.

The famous saying spoken by many is that “God has a rhema word for you

BY DEFINITION:  THE RHEMA IS A SPECIFIC WORD FROM GOD TO A SPECIFIC PERSON AT A SPECIFIC TIME.  If we keep this in mind when looking at the evidence which I will present, we will see this definition does not hold true. Others make a clear difference in so far as rhema is specifically that which is spoken, while logos are purely the written word of God.  Again keep this in mind as we proceed.

Acts 16:6-7 is presented as an example of this case.

Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word (logos) in Asia, After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not

(a)The Holy Spirit forbid Paul and his companions to enter Asia.  This would be seen as the rhema word (Specific to Paul) and yet it is not rhema that gets used but LOGOS.  Notice also that it was spoken by the Holy Spirit and not written.

(b)The great commission to preach the gospel was still relevant to all.  So this would be seen as a logos word.  (General to all Christians)

The Bible then becomes a book which contains general information applicable to all but not necessarily specific guidance. While rhema became the voice of God to the believer at any present moment.  The believer was then guided by specific words, experiences, impressions and inner feelings.  Many Pentecostals and Charismatic leaders were led to embrace this subjective definition and thus separate their experiences on a day to day basis from that which was contained within the scriptures.  By doing this Hagin laid down a new world view that presented to the church the Bible (logos) and the prophetic (rhema)

Suddenly God now speaks with two prophetic words rather than one.  Like all modern teaching you can guess which took precedence over the other.  This allowed Hagin the freedom to expound teachings not included in scripture, all in the guise of the New NOW prophetic word.  The Bible was yesterday’s news.  Today we have the rhema prophetic word to guide us.

So Hagin under the guise of the (rhema) prophetic word introduced such teachings:

  1. 1.    Christ’s physical death on the cross was not enough to save us…
  2. 2.    How Jesus tasted spiritual death…
  3. 3.    Jesus was tortured by demons for three days before God declared from heaven its enough
  4. 4.    Christian is as much the incarnation of God as was Jesus…
  5. 5.    Man was created on terms of equality with God…
  6. 6.    He made us in the same class of being as he is himself..
  7. 7.    Man lives on terms equal with God…
  8. 8.    Believer is called Christ….

Hundreds if not thousands have been influenced by this Teacher.  In 2004 Kenneth Hagin died and was superseded by his son Kenneth Hagin Jnr.

Foundations of this teaching stands or falls with Hagin sen.  He stands if his teaching on rhema stands.  There is without doubt Hagin preached another gospel and another Jesus.  Who knows the eternal consequences of those who embraced his teachings.

Now making a statement on to this fact is not the same as proving it.  My aim it to prove that Hagin did not have the slightest understanding of the Greek let alone scripture.

 REVELATION KNOWLEDGE VERSES SENSE KNOWLEDGE

The Mormon Church have their book of Mormon, The Jehovah Witnesses have their New World Translation.  So Hagin had his rhema word.  This became the excuse for extra Biblical revelation.  A subtle poison that has been slowly poisoning the church for the last 50 years.  Natural anyone who came along and disagreed with this new interpretation would be branded as someone who did not have “revelation knowledge” but “sense knowledge.”

SENSE KNOWLEDGE:  Term used by Hagin to demean those who hold to an understanding of scripture.  That makes the Bible the benchmark upon which all and any revelation must be judged.

REVELATION KNOWLEDGE: Term used by Hagin to express superiority over those who hold to the Bible.

(Rick Joyners  prophecy of a coming civil war in the church between what he calls the blues and the greys is a direct descendent of these ideas.  The Blues are those who hold to revelation knowledge (extra biblical material) and the Greys who hold to the Bible as the sole authority in all matters of faith.

Hagin Cosmetic exercises.

Hagin  related numerous visions to  explain his new revelations.  However he could not be seen to abandon scripture entirely.  He still had to appear to embrace the Bible and use it to explain his new revelations.  All the while undermining what it taught.  Today this hardly matters as few hardly read the Bible never mind understand it.  Today Hagin’s fruit has so matured that it no longer matters what scripture says on a certain matter.  Many simply grab apostle so and so and whatever he drivels out are automatically seen as truth.

So rhema quickly superseded scripture and superseded the interpretation of scripture. This allowed those who had embraced this concept to look down upon those mere Bible believers who clung onto their Bibles. Whilst claiming the freedom to embrace new extra Biblical teachings via so called revelation.

IN THE SHOES OF THE EARLY APOSTLES

We are going to go back to the first century and speak to those who knew and spoke Greek.  They are going to teach us how this word was used in comparison to Logos.

The Old Testament scriptures were the written word upon which the early apostles would have used. The New Testament was only beginning to be written a few years after Paul had established his pastoral churches.  Paul received the word he preached by revelation.  This would have meant that the use of this Greek word “rhema” should have been the most common word used especially in the book of Acts.   Remember HAGIN BELIEVED THAT RHEMA IS THE SPECIFIC WORD SPOKEN TO AN INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP OF PEOPLE AT ANY GIVEN TIME.  So what was the New Testament then?  Was the New Testament not the new revealed word to the world at that time?  Was it not preached to the Jews on the day of Pentecost?  Was it not preached to a specific group of people?  We must remember that long before Paul wrote his epistles he had already preached the word to those who heard it.    When He wrote his epistles were they not also specific in their message to those churches.  So where then is this word rhema.  How did the early apostles use this Greek word?  Could it be they knew something we don’t?

The use of Logos and rhema as the written word

Scripture God’s revealed word

No one would dispute the fact that logos is used (Acts 1:1 Logos word) to describe the written word.  Few however realise that rhema is also used to describe the written word.

God testimony about his written word

2 Tim. 3:16-17All scripture is given by inspiration

Inspiration (Strong’s 2315) means “God breathed, divinely inspired”

It is therefore excepted that all scripture is God breathed and is therefore God’s revelation to man.  Just as God breathed the breath of life into Adam, so God continues to breathe life into his word the Bible.

Romans 1:16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth

So his word is not only God breathed and inspired by God, but it also contains in its message the power to save.  The gospel is often that which is preached, it is a verbal message inspired and empowered creatively by God to come to a divine end, the saving of souls.

Hebrews 1:1-2God who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in times past unto the fathers by the prophets”

Clearly the Bible is no run of the mill newsletter.  It holds the contents of God’s prophetic word to man and his dealings with man.  It is an affront to declare that in all this time what God has prophetically declared before now has been “general” and “Mundane” .

God has never spoken anything in general or vague tones.  How can anyone say that what is now spoken prophetically is now superior to what God has previously spoken prophetically?

Romans 15:4Written for our admonition

1 Cor 10:11Admonition and example

2 Cor 12:7GOSPEL CAME BY DIRECT REVELATION

The Bible is God’s standard and plum line on faith, life and works.  It is still relevant for you and I today.  This is God’s revealed word to the world.

Romans 15:4Written for our comfort, for producing faith, hope, growth

See also 1 Peter 2:2.  Acts 20:32. 1 Thess 2:13

2 Tim 3:16-17Profitable for doctrine reproof, correction, instruction in righteousness

Scripture therefore speaks specifically to every part of our lives.  It is still relevant for yesterday, today and for tomorrow.  Any suggestion that it is substandard must personally reflect upon God himself who is the author of this word.

No man has the right to pick and choose which scriptures are applicable and those that are not.  Yet scripture is a unique piece of divine revelation in that scripture can interpret scripture.  Scripture can teach us what is relevant and what is not.  For example we no longer sacrifice animals because Jesus is that one final sacrifice.  We know that because scripture explains itself.

Hebrews 13:22I have written a Letter unto you in a few words” (rhema)

The letter in question is the Book of Hebrews.

So here the word rhema is used to speak about what has been written down.  That word we now know as the book of Hebrews.

Letter (Strong’s 1989) “Communicate by letter” is the root word for (1992) which we derive the word epistle.   This same word for (1992) epistle is used in 1 Thess5: 27 “I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren

The word epistle is used in relation to the books of Acts, Romans, both books of Corinthians, Colossians, and Both Books of Thessalonians, Timothy, and Peter. In the book of Revelation the Apostle John is told to write down what he sees and hears (Rev 1:19 write 1125) This word is also used in the Book of Jude and the epistles of John (1 John 1:4)

Luke when he came to write the Book of (Acts 1:1) chooses to use the word “Treatise”, which in the Greek is the word  “logos

Eph 3:3-4How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery, as I wrote(4270) afore in a few words (rhema) whereby when ye read ye may understand…”

2 Cor 10:11Let such a one think this that, such as we are in word (logos) by letters when we are absent such will also be in deed when we are present

Hebrews uses the word rhema

Ephesians uses the word rhema                               Bible (written word)

Corinthians uses the word logos

Acts uses the word logos

They are all used to describe the “same” written word.

So any attempt to elevate one word above another must also reflect upon how that word is used in scripture.  Would that mean that some books are more inspired than others?

We are told that “ALL SCRIPTURE IS GOD BREATHED” irrespective of what Greek word gets used.  There is no 1st 2nd or 3rd class letters from God.  But not all scripture has the same relevance e.g. Romans 7:1- “Released from the law” Hebrews 8:1- Old and New Covenant.  This brings us to another aspect.. The prophetic word.

The prophetic word

Old Testament

The Old Testament is full of prophecies concerning Israel and the Messiah Jesus.  Many of those have already been fulfilled, but there are also many that are still to be fulfilled.

Should we classify what is still to be fulfilled as logos and what has been fulfilled as rhema?

Matthew 15:4 “For God commanded saying (lego) “Honour thy Father and mother…” Remember that lego is a root word for logos.

This was a direct spoken command from God (no higher inspired prophetic authority) to Moses upon the MT Sinai.  Jesus himself and Matthew recorded it as so.  So why would such a word as “lego” be used to describe such a momentous meeting between God and his prophet Moses?

Did Matthew NOT realise the importance of such a meeting, who spoke and to whom did God speak?  What was spoken was it mundane, past relevance to the people Jesus spoke to?

Was it?

Root words: We often have words for example “pneumatic”, as in tyre or drill, this word comes from a root word – “Pneuma” This is the same Greek word for “spirit and breath wind.”  So in the Greek and because the English is influenced by many Greek words we often have words which have a root word to them.

Luke 3:14Word (logos) of Isaiah” ( fulfilled)

Acts 15:15Word (logos) of Prophets”(fulfilled)

John 12:38Sayings (logos) of Isaiah the prophet” (fulfilled)

See also Jn 10:33 (logos)

2 Peter 3:2 “That ye may be mindful of the words (rhema) which were spoken before by the Holy Prophets and the commandments of us the prophets of the Lord and saviour” (fulfilled)

The subject matter of the previous scriptures is the same written word we are now reading

In the use of the above scripture the writers have chosen to use both rhema and logos in reference to:

The word that has already been given and what has already been written.

Clearly Isaiah the prophet proclaimed God’s word which in the New Testament was fulfilled

The fact it was fulfilled did not see the writers of the New Testament try to re-categorise the prophecy into a new category.  They still used the word logos to describe a prophetic event.

If we try to force the issue by separating the writing logos into the spoken prophetic word rhema as some today would suggest.  Many will fail to notice the injustice and the prophetic significance of Christ birth and death was to achieve.  There are no mere 2nd or 3rd prophecies.

There are only those that are fulfilled and those that are still to be fulfilled, but they are all prophetically important.

For more information.  Look up this subject on my BOX FILES (top right hand corner) For the “FINAL EXPOSURE OF THE RHEMA WORD”  which contains the rest of this article.

Michael Houke has done an amazing job at collecting many of the names and teachings of the the WORD OF FAITH (WOF) .   Many of these teachers might have pedated others,  But their influence has played  a major part in what we now know as the prosperity gospel. UC Ministries.

The Word-Faith Movement gets its teachings from E.W. Kenyon (1867-1948) and recently from Kenneth Hagin and Kenneth Copeland. Kenyon got many of his teachings from Metaphysical cults such as New Age Thought, Christian Science, and Gnosticism. There are basically five doctrines of this movement, they are as follows:

1. Revelation Knowledge
2. Tongues
3. Faith
4. Healing
5. Prosperity

Another name for this movement/cult is the popular “ Prosperity Gospel”. Summed up briefly this movement believes that based on the amount of one’s faith they can say it or will it and they can have all the riches they desire. One proponent of this movement, Frederick K.C. Price once said; I drive a Rolls Royce because I have a Rolls Royce kind of faith, if you drive a Volkswagen it’s because you have a Volkswagen kind of faith. This non-sense is taught nowhere in scripture and is completely heretic.

Some of the more well known Preachers of this Movement/Cult are as follows:

John Avanzini
Todd Bentley
Rodney Howard Browne
Morris Cerullo
Kenneth and Gloria Copeland
Paul And Jan Crouch
Creflo A. Dollar
Jesse Duplantis
Kenneth Hagin
Benny Hinn
Steve Hill
Prophet Bernard Jordan

And many others.

These preachers are nothing more than Wolves in Sheep clothing. Most of them are from the Pentecostal movement and Oneness Pentecostal churches. Other than teaching that the bible wants us to be rich, many of them teach that we are “little gods”. They understand/justify that because we are created in God’s Image, therefore we are little gods with a small “g”. This teaching is highly heretic. Nowhere in scripture does it state that man can become a God or even remotely alludes to the fact that man can become a God, even with a little “g”. They claim that they receive revelation knowledge from God about their teachings. Where can we find this in the Bible? When the Canon of scripture was closed it was finished, we are never told that in the latter years we will receive new and updated information that will be on par or equal with the Bible.

Here is some of the outlandish things that they teach:

1. Faith is a force (Star Wars)
2. Man can become a God
3. Jesus was a rich man
4. Jesus wore designer clothes
5. Jesus stayed at the best places while on tour
6. Because Jesus had a treasurer, he had to be rich
7. Jesus went to hell and battled Satan
8. Jesus was tortured in hell
9. Jesus was born again in hell
10. Jesus rose from the grave in order for believers to become little Gods
11. Believers can control illness and sickness based on their faith
12. Believers have the power to touch and heal others, like Jesus
13. Believers have the power to raise people from the dead
14. Believers receive new revelation knowledge
15. Believers are no longer sinners
16. Believers can talk money into their wallets and purses
17. Holy Laughter is a gift from God
18. They elevate man to God status and reduce God to man’s status
.

Let’s see what these preachers have to say in their own words:

Paul Crouch : “We gotten so caught up in theology and debating and discussing theology and nit picking on this, and the heretic hunters have smokescreen the whole thing.” (The Christian Channel Europe “Praise The Lord” 14/6/98)

Benny Hinn : “Now I am going to read one scripture and then I am going to preach and the Devil is going to drop dead.” (The Christian Channel Europe “Praise The Lord” (TBN) 22/2/98)
Kenneth Copeland : “Faith is a power force. It is a tangible force. It is a conductive force.” (The Force of Faith [Fort Worth, TX: KCP Publications, 1989], 10.)

Kenneth Copeland : “You don’t think earth was first, do you? Huh? Well, you don’t think that God made man in His image, and then made earth in some other image? There is not anything under this whole sun that’s new. Are you hearing what I’m saying? This is all a copy. It’s a copy of home. It’s a copy of the Mother Planet. Where God lives, He made a little one just like His and put us on it.” (“Following the Faith of Abraham I” [Fort Worth, TX: Kenneth Copeland Ministries, 1989], audiotape #01-3001, side 1.)

Paul Crouch, speaking to Kenneth Copeland, said : “Somebody said–I don’t know who said it–but they claim that you Faith teachers declare that we are gods. You’re a god. I’m a god. Small ‘g’ now, but we are the gods of this world. . . . Well, are you a god–small ‘g’?” To this, Jan Crouch, referring to Copeland, enthusiastically exclaimed: “He’s gonna say, ‘Yes.’ I love it.” (“Praise the Lord” program on TBN [5 February 1986].)

Paul Crouch : “He [God] doesn’t even draw a distinction between Himself and us. . . . You know what else that’s settled, then, tonight? This hue and cry and controversy that has been spawned by the Devil to try and bring dissension within the body of Christ that we are gods. I am a little god! . . . I have His name. I’m one with Him. I’m in covenant relation. 1 am a little god! Critics, be gone!” (“Praise the Lord” program on TBN [7 July 1986].)

Frederick K.C. Price : “God can’t do anything in this earth realm except what we, the body of Christ, allow Him to do. Now that statement is so–that’s so–that’s so foreign and so contrary to tradition that, like I said, if they could get their hands on me right now most evangelicals would burn me at the stake and dismember me and feed me to the crocodiles, because they’ll consider that statement to be just heresy.” (“Ever Increasing Faith” program on TBN [1 May 1992], audiotape #PR11.) Cf. chapter 6, 85.

Kenneth Copeland : “Adam was made in the image of God. He was as much female as he was male. He was exactly like God. Then God separated him and removed the female part. Woman means ‘man with the womb.’ Eve had as much authority as Adam did as long as they stayed together.” (Sensitivity of Heart [Fort Worth, TX: KCP Publications, 1984], 23.)

Kenneth Copeland : “I was shocked when I found out who the biggest failure in the Bible actually is….The biggest one is God….I mean, He lost His top-ranking, most anointed angel; the first man He ever created; the first woman He ever created; the whole earth and all the Fullness therein; a third of the angels, at least–that’s a big loss, man. . . . Now, the reason you don’t think of God as a failure is He never said He’s a failure. And you’re not a failure till you say you’re one.” (“Praise-a-Thon” program on TBN [April 1988].)

John Avanzini : “Jesus had a nice house, a big house–big enough to have company stay the night with Him at the house. Let me show you His house. Go over to John the first chapter and I’II show you His house. . . . Now, child of God, that’s a house big enough to have company stay the night in. There’s His house.” (“Believer’s Voice of Victory” program on TBN [20 January 1991].)

John Avanzini : “Jesus was handling big money because that treasurer He had was a thief. Now you can’t tell me that a ministry with a treasurer that’s a thief can operate on a few pennies. It took big money to operate that ministry because Judas was stealing out of that bag.” (“Praise the Lord” program on TBN [15 September 1988].)

John Avanzini : “John 19 tells us that Jesus wore designer clothes. Well, what else you gonna call it? Designer clothes–that’s blasphemy. No, that’s what we call them today. I mean, you didn’t get the stuff He wore off the rack. It wasn’t a one-size-fits-all deal. No, this was custom stuff. It was the kind of a garment that kings and rich merchants wore. Kings and rich merchants wore that garment.” “Believer’s Voice of Victory” program on TBN [20 January 1991].)

.Frederick K C. Price : “The Bible says that He [Jesus] had a treasurer–a treasury (they called it “the bag”); that they had one man who was the treasurer, named Judas Iscariot; and the rascal was stealing out of the bag for three-and-a-half years and nobody knew that he was stealing. You know why? Because there was so much in it, He couldn’t tell. Nobody could tell that anything was missing. If He had three oranges in the bottom of the bag and he stole two of them, don’t tell me He wouldn’t know that some was missing. Beside that, if Jesus didn’t have anything, what do you need a treasury for? A treasury is for surplus. It’s not for that which you’re spending. It’s only for surplus–to hold it until you need to spend it. Therefore, He must have had a whole lot that needed to be held in advance that He wasn’t spending. So He must have had more than He was living on.” (“Ever Increasing Faith” program on TBN [23 November 1990].)

John Avanzini : ‘You don’t think these Apostles didn’t walk around with money? I mean, they had money. I just thank God that I saw this and gave up the denominational line and got on God’s line before I starved me and all my family to death. Go to Acts 24. 1 mean. you don’t think there wasn’t money in this Paul’s life!. . . Paul had the kind of money that people, that government officials, would, would block up justice to try to get a bribe out of old Paul.” (“Believer’s Voice of Victory” program on TBN [20 January 1991].)

Kenneth Copeland : “That Word of the living God went down into that pit of destruction and charged the spirit of Jesus with resurrection power! Suddenly His twisted, death-wracked spirit began to fill out and come back to life. He began to look like something the devil had never seen before.” (“The Price of it All,” Believer’s Voice of Victory 19, 9 [September 1991]:4.)

Kenneth Copeland : “He [Jesus] was literally being reborn before the devil’s very eyes. He began to flex is spiritual muscles. . . .Jesus was born again–the firstborn from the dead the Word calls Him–and He whipped the devil in his own backyard. He took everything he had away from him. He took his keys and his authority away from him.” (Ibid., 4-6.)

Benny Hinn : “When you say, ‘I am a Christian, you are saying, ‘I am mashiach’ in the Hebrew. I am a little messiah walking on earth, in other words That is a shocking revelation…. May I say it like this? You are a little god on earth running around.” (“Praise-a-Thon” program on TBN [6 November 1990].)

I think enough has been said, sadly millions of people give their hard earned money to these wolves in sheep clothing, believing that all they teach will get them to heaven, but it is another gospel and another gospel cannot save anyone! Galatians 1:6-9 says it all, There is only one Gospel, and the prosperity gospel is not the one

By Michael Houke

My name is John Edwards, and I was a Faith Preacher for ten years and one month. My wife and I attended and graduated from the premiere word of faith seminary in the world. During school I had the opportunity of working for some of the most famous names in the word of faith movement.

We both graduated from school and returned to the Birmingham area and started a charismatic word of faith church in our living room. We had four people at our first service and took up a $300 offering. Over the years, we moved our church to several locations before building our first building on 18 acres of land in Clay, Alabama. Our church had around 300 active members although less than a hundred would attend on any given Sunday. Over all we estimate that we had at least 2,000 members come and go over that ten year period if not more. Charismatic churches we found have extremely high turn over. It was my observation that we would often attract people that had been church members at just about every other charismatic church in town.

I never really liked pastoring because of the politics and constant drama that went on. I loved to teach, visit with people in the hospital, and do the actual work of the ministry, but I hated all the other stuff that goes with it. I stayed frustrated, depressed and I was always discouraged.

As a word of faith Christian, I did all the things that the word of faith teaches. I confessed the Word. I talked in line with the Word. I called things that be not as though they were. I had written out “My Vision” and confessed it out loud almost everyday, all fourteen pages of it. I prayed in tongues for hours. I read books and listened to hundreds, if not to thousands of Cd’s by the prominent word of faith teachers. I went to seminars, revivals, classes and to all sorts of healing meetings, increase meetings, Holy Ghost meetings, Holy laughter meetings and even to numerous early morning prayer meetings. It was a tradition at our church to meet at four in the morning to pray for two hours. For many years I prayed, believed and confessed miracles, signs and wonders for our ministry. But not much happened along those lines. In fact, I buried a lot of people over those years, including my daughter that died of a brain tumor at the age of fourteen. I was constantly perplexed that the message of faith and healing that I was preaching did not seem to work in the lives of the congregation. It seemed like we had all of the same experiences, trials and tribulations as the other church folks around town. I was for sure that there should be a clear distinction between the people of the Word and the denominational people. We had revelation knowledge of the Word. We had a leg up on the Body of Christ. We had the Holy Ghost, prayed in tongues and most of all we had the word of faith message that was full of God’s victory, prosperity and healing power. But there was really no difference between us and them. By them, I am referring to the Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Assembly of God churches that we as word of faith people thought were missing out. I mocked their teachings and beliefs for years. I learned it from my word of faith teachers and peers. I continued the tradition.

About a year and a half ago and good friend from Tulsa sent me a CD teaching on pride. I hated it. It really bothered me a lot and got me to thinking and praying which is sometimes a dangerous thing to do! I had ministry business to attend to in Indianapolis and in Michigan, so I must have listened to that Cd a dozen times. It convicted me of self. It convicted me of pride. It opened my eyes to some of my motives. More than anything, it revealed to me that I had an enormous ego that could never, ever be content.

I realized that over the years, that I had transformed from being on fire for God to being on fire for me. Everything was about me. My vision, my church, my success, my reputation, my dream, my church, my services, my anointing, my, my, my, me, me ,me. It had become all about me, but how did this happen?

Everything in my life revolved around the prosperity of my vision and things that I wanted. I took out my note book and took a look at my confessions. They were all about me and my vision. Things that I wanted. It shocked me at how my relationship with God had become all about prosperity and what I could “believe” God for. My life had become full of faith formulas, confessions, mechanics and legalism.

As I studied, prayed and meditated, I could find nothing that I was doing wrong. I was just becoming a product of what I had been teaching for years. I had become humanistic. My view of God had become inward instead of God-ward. I began to re-examine my doctrines and word of faith teachings and realized that I had deceived myself into thinking that I was in control of my life and circumstances. I had taught and believed that I could control everything with my faith and confession. So I began to revisit these teachings and do a more in depth study. I started listening to ministers that I would have mocked a year before.

Over that year I believe that I have identified FIVE MAIN AREAS of erroneous teaching that are the very foundations of the word of faith movement. I would like to share those five with you now if you are interested. If not, then dont read any further. It is not my intention to destroy anyone’s faith. I just know and realize that there is some serious error in the word of faith teachings that I must address, partly because I taught this message for many years to thousands of people.

31 FACTS ABOUT THE WORD OF FAITH by John Edwards.

The following are a few facts about the dangerous and deceptive Word of Faith Movement which is sweeping the Body of Christ with it’s lies and faulty theology:1) The Word of Faith heresy is a hybrid religion that is a blend of New Age ideas and Charismatic excesses.

2) It was founded by a Baptist Preacher that was heavily influenced by the mind science teachers of his day including Mary Baker Eddy. He brought in many New Age and Mind Science teachings and blended them with scripture twisted out of context.

3) The Word of Faith Theology was further developed by a man that claimed at least eight visitations from Jesus Christ. In each of these visits this preacher was given extra revelation and extra biblical insight.

4) This preacher boasted for years that he walked in Divine health although he was being treated for heart disease with medication.

5) This preacher’s message was a blend of the Word of God and his visions. He often taught the Word of God in light of his visions.

6) This is very similar to the Prophet Joseph Smith that claimed extra revelation through visits from Jesus and God as he founded the Mormon church.

7) Most of the highest regarded Word of Faith teachers have not been to a legitimate seminary. Most of them were self taught from listening to tapes from other Word of Faith teachers.

8) The Word of Faith Movement is anchored on one passage of scripture that is found in Mark 11:23-24. In this passage Jesus used a common, everyday Jewish hyperbole to teach his inner circle Apostles to believe in the power of God. The Word of Faith preachers have distorted the Greek text and the meaning of this passage to build an entire religion that revolves around faith and words as a means to obtain health and wealth.

9) Although the Word of Faith leaders do extensive teaching on faith and healing, it does not bear fruit in their own lives. Many of them died of tumors, cancer and heart disease.

10) Although the Word of Faith teachers love to minister from the 91st Psalm about God’s prophetic protection of the Messiah, they themselves live in constant fear and have numerous body guards and ushers.

11) The Word of Faith Message is centered on the prosperity scriptures that were meant for Israel under the Old Covenant. They emphasis tithing and sowing seeds as a means to obtain wealth. The Word of Faith Movement is obsessed with wealth and materialism and the worship of money.

12) The Word of Faith leaders teach that Jesus was wealthy although the scripture is very clear that he was not.

13) The Word of Faith leaders place thousands of well meaning believers under extreme pressure and condemnation by telling them outlandish and half true testimonies.

14) The Word of Faith leaders do an enormous amount of teaching on submission to authority, walking in love, and staying away from being offended. This produces a fearful cult like atmosphere in their churches. It keeps people from expressing hurts and concerns. It makes people feel like they cannot leave their church for any reason.

15) Many of the prominent Word of Faith teachers live the lifestyles of the rich and famous and flaunt it as a testimony of God’s favor while the people that are sending in their money are regarded as nothing.

16) The Word of Faith ministers are dishonest with scripture, often completely distorting it to rhyme with their doctrines.

18) Word of Faith ministers love to boast and brag about their faith and what their faith has done for them.

19) That is because it is called the Word of FAITH. It is a religion that revolves around faith instead of a religion that has faith in God. They teach faith in faith and faith in words.

20) The Word of Faith leaders teach that we are little gods and that we can act and perform much as God can. This also is a distortion of scripture and another thing that the Word of Faith has in common with the Mormons.
21) Word of Faith theology rejects the blood of Jesus as the sufficient atonement for our sins.

22) Word of Faith theology teaches that Jesus did not use His Divinity while on the earth while the Bible teaches that He was fully God and in total control at every moment.

23) The Word of Faith Movement teaches that words spoken from a human have inherent and creative power of their own.

24) Word of Faith teaches that Jesus said that you will have what you say, which is not what He said.

25) The Word of Faith theology depends on the King James translation of Mark 11:23-24

26) The same passage is found also in Matthew 21, and is worded quite differently, causing all the faith formulas based on Mark 11:23-24 to be out of whack.

27) The Word of Faith is humanism. It puts man in charge and God in the backseat.

28) The Word of Faith Movement misrepresents the character of Job.

29) The Word of Faith takes numerous passages from the New Testament and completely butchers them to fit their doctrine.

30) The Word of Faith creates fear, bondage, and a distorted unbiblical viewpoint of God.

31) The Word of Faith emphasises success and prosperity while Jesus stressed suffering and humility.

I will think of hundreds of other things after I post this, but these 31 facts are indeed facts. The Word of Faith is a cult because it is led by people claiming special insight and revelation that is unorthodox. They also attempt to control their subjects with fear, manipulation and bullying.
The Word of Faith is the Doctrine of Devils. It is an evil message that kills people and wrecks lives.

Please do not be afraid to look at the evidence. I was too afraid to examine the evidence because I wanted things my way. The Word of Faith put me in charge of my own life, and I liked that. But when I got up the courage to begin to read and study, God opened my eyes with truth and freedom. I am no longer in the cult!

Todd Bentley

While the bam bam man was kneeing and kicking people in the groin he was also carrying on with a young student behind his wife’s back, and this he called revival. He then divorces his wife marries his mistress and calls it repentance. Now he is back in the game selling himself as the great revivalist imparting the blessing and raking in the money.

Todd as we will see has thrown himself headlong into the prosperity game of health and wealth. Here are just a few comments he has made in his teaching straight from his own website “Fresh fire USA Ministries

“Angelic Functions: Releasing Finances : The angels do God’s bidding (Ps. 103:20). When the Father wants to command blessings, often it is the angelic messengers who are sent out to help us get our inheritance.”

Despite the words of Jesus NOT to lay up treasures on the earth, Todd ignores this to turn this around to a physical inheritance now, where angels rush out to impart physical wealth. Notice how he slowly turns “Angels do Gods bidding “ to doing his bidding. There is no teaching here of obeying but rather the opposite.

The Bible teaches us:
Mat 6: 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

“The Bible assures us in Philippians 4:19 that God will supply all our needs “according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” When I need a financial breakthrough, I don’t just pray and ask God for it; I also petition the Father to release the angels that are assigned to finances. “Father, give me the angels that are assigned to get me money,” I’ll say. “Let those angels be released on my behalf. Send them to the four corners of the earth to gather money.”

Needs are not greed however in Todd vocabulary this becomes whatever makes him rich. Whilst it is true that God will supply our NEEDS there is no provision for a gospel to make people into millionaires.

Do you know why it’s important to pray like this? Because the devil wants to cut off our cash flow and block our finances. He wants to do whatever he can to hinder the blessing and provision that God has for us. Sometimes praying about it isn’t good enough because we need to overcome in heaven where the angels and demons are actually fighting. We must push back the demonic forces, so sometimes we need to say: “Father, let those legions of angels assigned to release financial breakthrough come to the earth right now and loose the devil from the money assigned to me. I call in that money in the name of Jesus.”

Whilst it is true that the devil can oppress people he certainly cannot stop God from blessing. But notice he places the ability to acquire this blessing straight into his own hands. “We must push back the demonic forces” or “we need to say: “Father, let those legions” or “I call in that money in the name of Jesus.. Otherwise turn what we pray into a confession. Notice the language. “ we must… we need … I call “ This is typical of this false teaching. He has gone from the language that God will supply to the point where he obtains through his confessions what he needs.

Sometimes when I pray this way –bam! I’ll have the money I need within a few days. Yes, I get financial breakthrough because God is my source. If man doesn’t have it for me, God does. Yet the devil is trying to keep it from me. Even though God heard me on the first day, the devil wants to delay it as long as he can. But I’ve got to get the angels involved through prayer. “C’mon God, let those angels come and help fulfill Your word. You promised me the blessing of the Lord that makes one rich and that You add no sorrow with it” (Prov. 10:22).

So Todd is back to his old antics with angel Emma and company.

I was at a meeting in Atlanta when someone saw two angels walk into the service and pour oil on the pastor. She saw gold in the oil and knew there was financial breakthrough coming. That night two people wrote the pastor checks for sixteen and seventeen thousand dollars. Others also wrote checks for thousands of dollars to Fresh Fire for our missions work.

Gold appeared on people’s hands and faces, and many experienced great financial blessing within twenty-four hours. The day after this angelic visitation, one gentleman had millions of dollars released to him. He’d waited almost ten years for this breakthrough.
This financial release came because financial angels visited. Can you imagine? The angels broke the spirit of poverty over the church. Often the churches that I visit will see their income double within twelve months. With this angelic assistance, as God’s people we will prevail and overcome the warfare trying to hold back our financial breakthrough.
CLICK HERE TO MAKE A ONE TIME DONATION

Now why would a man who can call angels to send him money would have a “CLICK HERE TO MAKE A ONE TIME DONATION” button. Because like all false teachers the theology does not work. If you can call angels to bring you money you would not need a donation button.

KEYS TO A VICTORIOUS LIFE PART 1 by Todd Bentley
“So Jesus answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life’” (Mk. 10:29, 30).
I firmly believe that God wants us to prosper in all things and be in good health, just as our soul prospers, exactly as 3 John Chapter 1 states: “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (v. 2). His desire is to possess you, empower you and prosper you.
This is a typical spiel of the health and wealth brigade. This verse is simply a greeting rather than a set formula. However the prosperity camp turns this statement into a formula and a mandate to acquire riches in this life usually at the expense of others. All John was saying here was that those to whom this letter was written would be fine and doing well. But because the word “Prosper “ is used they grab a hold of it and make it more than what John intended it to mean.
So, today, I will share three keys, and two more will follow next week, that will help you unlock some doors in your life. I’ve also included some exciting testimonies of God’s faithfulness in the lives of a few of my friends. They believed God and then took the principles He imparted to them to heart, and as they put those principles to work, they became prosperous.
1. WATCH WHAT YOU SAY You will eat the fruit of your mouth.
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap” Galations 6:7. Then the LORD said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word’” Jeremiah 1:12.
God is He who raises the dead, brings into existence and removes from existence, controls all creation, and is the Creator of all things in heaven, earth and below the earth. God spoke all things into existence with His word. Because man is created in His image, we, too have the ability to speak things into existence. That’s why we must sow good seeds by speaking good words. To be blessed in our own lives, we must sow words of blessings over our nation, our children, our neighbors, our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ—“You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways” (Job 22:28).

Again another typical misuse of scripture. Words become very important in the health and wealth camp. The belief is that what they confess they will possess, the trouble is that there are grave yards full of people who confessed and have not possessed.

Sadly this is nothing more than the prostitution of the gospel. For many what they confess they don’t possess. Despite all his confessions he could not heal his own marriage and was busy carrying on with a young student behind his wife’s back. Words can be a blessing as well as a curse but they cannot or were never ever meant to be taken in some metaphysical connection as Todd has here. Words can build up and encourage and edify. Great speakers have motivated people to do great deeds. But there are not made to become some supernatural force to influence angels or God.

We must believe and profess words of life over all things because God is always listening, and He desires to bless, enrich and empower His children according to the words they speak. So it is important to decree the blessing over yourself, over your circumstances, over your finances and over your family according to the word of God. You will see it come to pass in your life. If you decree “blessing” several times a day, it will become a habit and the results will be tremendous.

Todd says we need to profess  or decree words of life, otherwise a positive confession.  Wrong we need to confess  and believe the truth of Gods word. Todd turns what he says into a creative force that God listens to.  Notice what he says  If you decree …. blessings”  Nothing is said here about what God decrees or decidesTodd becomes his own saviour.  In fact in another sermon which I read he pats himself on the back for saving his dad.  He spoke the right words which God responded to because God could not do it.

“So, in order to experience God’s full blessing, we need to have a deep hunger and desire to see change come to pass in our lives. As well, we need to be fully prepared to focus on that change. I have heard it said, “Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.”
“Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the LORD, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you’” Numbers 14:28.Negative Conversation: Speaking words of negativity limits what God can do. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” Proverbs 18:21a. “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers” Ephesians 4:29

Proverbs 18: 21 is simply stripped right out of its context. Notice he only used a part of that verse. Kenneth Hagin built a theology by daisy chaining verses together to make them say something they did not. The power of words here has absolutely nothing to do with confessing health and wealth. Hagin’s concept was that what we confess negative or positive once released from our lips would impact the world around us. Otherwise we create our own world by what we speak. We then become our own little gods creating our own little worlds. Whilst Mormons have to wait until after they have died these men believe you can do it now. Man becomes god and God and angels becomes man servants bound by the words we speak. This is not the gospel but an occult of metaphysical mysticism. Hagin died and went to hell where all false teachers go.”

When we speak negative words, we are agreeing with the enemy whom the Bible says is the father of lies. For example, if a gardener doesn’t pull the weeds in a flower bed, the flowers won’t flourish and remain beautiful. Their life will be choked out! Just the same, there are things in our own lives that we must remove in order to for us to grow. To guarantee maturity and a winning life, you must eliminate all of the weeds of negativity from your life.

Where in scripture does it say that when we speak negative words we are agreeing with the enemy?  How many verses can we find in scripture that speaks negatively of something?  This is pure Kenneth Hagin teaching .

Rom 3: 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

This is a negative statement and it certainly does not agree with the devil.

Isiah 41: 26 Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and before time, that we may say, [He is] righteous? yea, [there is] none that sheweth, yea, [there is] none that declareth, yea, [there is] none that heareth your words.

Again another negative verse.  Who inspired that verse?    All scripture is inspired by God and so it is clearly not inspired by any devil.

When we speak God’s word, His power is present to perform His word in our lives. A great man of God in Korea made mention of how he carries a tape recorder in his pocket every day so that he can record his conversations. Every night he listens to it to see how many positive and negative words come out of his mouth during each conversation. He uses this technique so that he can minimize negative words and conversely, increase positive speech each day.

People who go down this road become bound to what they say and do not say. It becomes a form of superstition where people will run around making positive confessions in some vain attempt to override the negative confession. The negative brings sickness and poverty and positive confession brings health and wealth, sadly this is not the gospel. Notice that the emphasis is not on right living and rejecting sin but in getting rid of negativity. Where is that theology in scripture?

 2. GOD–CONSCIOUSNESS: In his book, Practicing His Presence, Brother Lawrence wrote about a question that challenged him: “Could a man keep his mind focused and centered on the Lord at all times?” In his quest for a truthful answer, his life actually modeled the answer! He lived a successful life and got to a place of a sacrificially surrendered lifestyle. Like Brother Lawrence, we are all called to work from the resting place of God, a state without any striving. This is done by setting our eyes on the Lord—the Author and Perfecter of our faith, ruling and reigning from that place of rest—where we are seated with Christ in heavenly places.
So keep God in your thoughts at all times. By continuously centering your thoughts on God and scriptural truth, wrong thinking will be crowded out, you’ll be empowered during temptation, and you’ll develop wisdom for important decisions.Equally, you need to meditate on God’s word; this is the daily bread for your life that will cause you to thrive. In the book of Luke, Jesus overcame the enemy who tempted Him in the wilderness by knowing the word of God. Likewise, it is important to know who you are in Christ and who He is in you.

For those who may struggle in this area, I suggest finding a meeting place, an upper room in your house where you can encounter God daily. Since Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge,” I would suggest a good start would be with three chapters a day in your Bible. After all, knowledge and faith go hand in hand.

Again Todd takes scripture straight out of context by quoting only one part of this verse. The verse should read.
Hosea 4: 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children

While the advise to know Gods word better is good, however the reality is that he is not following his own advise but is borrowing his teaching from men.
Todd Bentley has clearly rejected the knowledge of God. The reality is that there have been plenty of studies showing that the prosperity gospel of Kenneth Hagin is a false perverted gospel. However as I believe that Todd was never saved in the first place it is unlikely he would take much notice. Like all those who have gone before him there is only one thing that Todd really believes in and that is Money.
