John 14: 17 [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you

How do I know I have the Holy Spirit?  In the past the main deciding factor among many Pentecostals was that people could speak in tongues.  tongues became the focus as to who did or did not have the Holy Spirit.  For others it might be the sacrament of Baptism.  For the more radical it might be drop down and roll that persuades them that the Holy Spirit dwells within. But what does the Bible say about this matter.  We are aware that tongues have been one of the most counterfeited of the spiritual gifts .  Anyone can have a few drops of water or even be fully immersed and still not be indwelt by the Holy Spirit.  A person can have full membership within a church and still not have the Holy Spirit..

John 16:13- 15  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew [it] unto you.   All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew [it] unto you

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH:

There are several things we can gleam from these verses

  1.   The Holy Spirit >> will be the spirit of truth.  So you will not expect to see him lying, but will always uphold the truth of scripture.
  2.   The Holy Spirit >>  will guide the believer to the truth.  So the end result should see an imparted desire for the truth.  He will always lead us to the truth.  That means exposing error and falsehood either within our lives or elsewhere.
  3.   The Holy Spirit>>  Does not speak or glorify himself.  So you would not expect the emphasis to be on the Holy Spirit.  Just as Jesus came to glorify the father, so the Holy Spirit has come to glorify the son.
  4.  The Holy Spirit>> Will take what now belongs to Jesus and reveal them to the believer.  So we would expect the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus.

John 15: 26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me

Now how does this work out within the believer’s life?

THE HOLY SPIRIT GLORIFIES JESUS:

If an individual is glorified more than Jesus, there is a good chance that this has not been initiated by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirits Job is to POINT us to JESUS.  It is his job to make real who this saviour is.   He takes what he has been shown and unravels it within our hearts and mind.

Heb 10: 16 This [is] the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them.

The focus of which is his truth, his revelation and the knowledge about him!!!  Scripture is at the heart of this.  Take scripture out and be assured it is not the Holy Spirit.

Jesus made it clear

John 15: 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you

THE HOLY SPIRIT POINTS US TO HIS WORD:

Now the out working of the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to encourage us to abide in his word .  If you abide in everything but his word then you can positively say you don’t have the Holy Spirit.  Just as some have placed the teachings of individual men above the scripture.  Allowing  what they have said to reinterpret scripture and change it to conform to ideas which are so contrary to scripture.  Others who places curses on anyones right to read and believe what scripture alone states.  Stating that they alone have some special dispensation to interpret the Bible.

Scripture states that we should study to show ourselves approved of God,  Sadly there are those who would deny such a right.  The HOLY SPIRIT takes the Bible and reveals it to the believer, making it both real and understood.  Often the difference before and after conversion of a soul is liken to one who only reads the Bible but without much understanding.  Then Reading the Bible after the conversion and the words just leaps out of the page.  The change is often dynamic and remarkable.

John 14: 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments

THE HOLY SPIRIT HELPS US TO LOVE JESUS:

How can we LOVE someone we have never met, let alone keep his commandments?  How is it that the believer has a love for Jesus whom he has not seen?  That too is the out working of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is always  working to bring the reality of the godhead within our lives.  So that we can say we will follow this man Christ Jesus, but we will not follow anotherWhilst many have played the part of Jesus in blockbuster films and their acting have been well praised by fellow actors, they simply don’t express the real Jesus.  Or communicated the one in whom the believer adores above all else.

The Holy Spirit is our helper  and  he is able to take what we offer up in our worship and praise  and make it real and significant before God.  For how can we approach a throne that is beyond our vision, and yet feel we are truly there.  How can such worship be made acceptable  unless God himself is fully approachable and open to receive us.  Yet even in this the Holy Spirit continues to make his presence felt.

The work of the Holy Spirit is to place God central to our lives.  If he is not then I would question WHY NOT?

John 17: 26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare [it]: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

One of the signs has to be the same LOVE which the father had towards the son might also be within the believer.

So if we have a person who claims to love his church or institution more than Jesus that too will be a glimpse that something is wrong.  Now it’s not wrong to loves things, its only when we love them more than God that there is a problem.  Now even here some have manipulated people in order to control others for their own benefit.

The argument goes like this:

if you love God you will submit to his authority. That authority has somehow been placed in the hands of men. so you must obey that authority as if it came from God himself.  However when that authority  wants you to submit  and points you in a direction which is contrary to God.  In such a situation we are morally bound to resist such evil and obey God. Sadly history has seen such abuse place anathema upon anathema upon ordinary people to create an atmosphere of fear.  To stop them from even questioning such abuse.

Biblical Love places God first, his word the Bible.  then our love for others.  But always in a true Biblical setting.

You might respect your minister as a great man of God.  But you will never place him equal or above Jesus.  His authority will always be subject to Gods word.

Nor would we expect a true Holy Spirit filled man to start promoting new age mysticism, heresy, or to promote unscriptural teachings.  The true man of God would be prepared to submit his life to Gods word.  Nor would you be comfortable as Catholics do to exalt the finite and claim that this is the Holy Spirits doing.  Mary may have been Jesus earthly mother but no where is she promoted to some queen of heaven.  Such promotion does not stem from the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Catholics will go to great lengths to get around the simply fact that there is no evidence that God crowned Mary, and that includes time itself.  When you had one catholic woman who started to talk about linear time and that God can bend time and thus crown Mary ahead of  anyone else . Such excuses are almost laughable if they were not so serious.

However Scripture cannot be broken and no one gets crowned before the rest of us. Nor would anyone of us be crowned with an ungodly title as the Queen of heaven.  Where in Catholic teachings do we have a Joseph the king of heaven, Or Paul and Peter as the Kings of heaven.  Or even Elizabeth as another queen of heaven.   In fact to date such a title has never been conferred upon anyone else.  Such a title is reserved for Mary alone, which exposes it as Idol worship.  No such inspiration is from the Holy Spirit.  Those who do so and are comfortable with it cannot know God.  When the simple  “Hello” from an angel becomes so distorted and made into a repetitious prayer.  A point which even Jesus rebuked.  Or as someone remarked its like saying to someone every second hello hello hello hello hello.  That not praying let alone talking to God.

THE HOLY SPIRIT CHANGES US :

The Holy Spirit will also convict us of our sins.  He will not let go and will never cease to challenge convict exhort and teach the believer.    You will simply not be comfortable in a sinful situation.  It will always lead to repentance and a change of direction.

Heb 12: 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not

John 16: 9-10  Of sin, because they believe not on me, Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

But he will also convince us of the righteousness of God.  Which mean we will grow in our desire to be righteous?  WE JUST WILL NOT BE COMFORTABLE LIVING IN SIN OR IN SINNING.  There should be a hunger within the believer to do right and be right with God.  To walk in holiness and in a manner that is separated from what we know to be wrong.  As I often say God never leaves us how he finds us, but changes us to be like himself.  If you are happy as you once where and no change has occurred again the question is WHY, because there should be  a change.

John 14: 21, 23  He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him…..Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

There is a real sense that those who belong will experience and know the saviour in an intimate way.  The Holy Spirit is the one who makes this real.  So we can say we rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.  Yet whilst we cannot say how he physically looked like , yet we can say we know him and love him.

Now Jesus makes it clear that those who don’t know him will not keep his word.  They may sing and speak about “a” Jesus, but not really know the true Jesus of the Bible

John 14: 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me

THE HOLY SPIRIT PROMOTES THE TRUE JESUS :

The Jesus of the Moslems is most certainly not the Jesus of the Bible and as such they don’t seek to obey or believe the scriptures.  To them this Jesus was nothing more than a prophet.  A prophet that had to be rescued before he was killed, who allowed another innocent man to die in his place,  Then after three days pretended to be resurrected.  Such a deception does not express the true nature of Jesus.

Sad to say many a Roman Catholics see  Jesus submitting himself to the hands of a priest who pronounces some magically words over some cookie and Jesus becomes the Eucharist.  What you eat cannot produce the intimacy that scripture speaks about.  True Intimacy produce true obedience.  Obedience does not come out of a ritualistic relationship of I must or else, but out of a Love and devotion to the one whom the Holy Spirit reveals.  True intimacy realises that all glory belongs to God.  Our joy is to see God glorified and lifted up.  If you see a minister begin to glorify himself and basically say “LOOK AT ME, HOW GREAT I AM  ”  QUESTION IT!!!  When God moves he gets the glory and man is always humbled.

Many people will throw up the excuse that God can do anything he wants.  The one things God cannot and never will do is go against his nature.  We can glimpse that truth from scripture itself.  We would expect God to reproduce that very same nature within his people.  To love the way he loves and see things as he sees them.  That means we will have a love for his word.  If you don’t have a love for such a treasure, then ask yourself WHY NOT

Rom 8: 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

THE HOLY SPIRIT BRINGS ASSURANCE OF SALVATION:

Now it is the work of the Holy Spirit to bare witness to Jesus and to witness to us that we belong to God.  Now as you can see he does not witness to our flesh, but to our spirits.  There is a deep knowing and assurance of belonging which cannot go away.  We become aware that this hell hole called earth is not our home.  We look forward to a home that we have never seen and yet we know its ours.  It’s the work of the Holy Spirit to convince this truth to us.  Because we are his, we long to be with him and be fulfilled in him.

The story of the rosary goes like this.

Mary herself appeared to Saint Dominic in the twelfth century. At that time, tradition says she gave him the rosary and promised Dominic that if he spread devotion to the rosary, his religious order would flourish. It is quite true that Dominic was quite devoted to the Blessed Mother, but no one knows for sure if Our Lady herself gave Dominic the rosary. If she did, it is quite certain that she did not give him a rosary that looks like the one we have today.  Source http://www.personalizedrosaries.com/history.html

As we shall see the rosary has changed over the centuries.  So that what people hold in their hands today is not the same Rosary that Dominic was pushing.

This first rosary was prayed as we do today, a person would pass their fingers over each bead and say a prayer, usually the “Our Father”. The “Hail Mary” as we know it wasn’t even around at that time

The Hail Mary owes its origin to the rosary. When people said the rosary in the twelfth century, Gabrielle’s greeting “Hail Mary, full or grace, the Lord is with thee” was often said along with the Our Father. Later, Elizabeth’s greeting ”blessed are you among women” was added. It was not until the sixteenth century that the words “Holy Mary., Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death” were added.

Now why would Mary inspire something that was so imperfect, and incomplete when it was so important to the spiritual well being of a persons soul?  Maybe because it never was.  When  does  simply saying Hello to someone should take on some mystical proportions, because that was all the word “HAIL,” means.  Even Judas said Hail to Jesus just before he betrayed him.  The Roman Soldiers  who were to nail  Jesus to the cross used the same word in mockery.  Jesus  even used the  term when he met some of his disciples.

Mat 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshiped him.   Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

Yet no one would suggest to make any of  those instances into some repetitious prayer.  WHY NOT?  Maybe because none of these  instances are related to Mary who is the true object of these superstitious beads.

What did the Apostles do before the rosary came alone?   Were any of the Apostles lost for words when it came to talking to God?  Plus if this was the true Mary of the Bible she would also know Jesus dislike for repetitious prayers.  But this Mary decides to follow the other religions and their pagan practices.  A practice which even Catholic theologians admit to.

The Roman Catholic church offers up 15  promises to the devoted who use the Rosary.  It must be reminded that whenever an angel or prophet appeared in scripture they pointed to God and never to themselves as being the centre piece of devotion or reverence. Yet what we see is Mary pointing to herself time after time.  We shall call these promises 15 broken promises.

Rosary  and Mary  The 15 Promises of Mary  (our Lady ) to Christians Who Recite the Rosary
                                                          TRUE OR LIE? ….    SCRIPTURE…………
(1 )Whoever shall faithfully serve Me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive signal graces. LIE Notice that the promises are all about MARY.  Serving her and giving devotion to the rosary.  The question is where in scripture were these promises come from?  Answer NO where.  They are all a LIE! Where in scripture does  it say “serve Mary” or even receive “ special”  protection by reciting an endless boring repetition of the same words. How can a finite woman protect anyone unless they attribute the nature and qualities of God?  Ie omnipresence to her.
(2)I promise My special protection and the greatest graces to all who shall recite the Rosary LIE How can a finite human offer protection to the many thousands who pray to her simultaneously across the world?  NO because that would again require the nature of Omnipresent God to do so.  Scripture always points to God as our protection and shield.
(3)The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.   LIE Scripture says put on the whole armour of God.  Nowhere does it say put on the armour of the rosary.  The rosary is never mentioned as being part of Gods armour. Eph 6: 14 – which speaks about breastplate belt shield footwear and even the sword of the spirit.  But Rosary is no where mentioned.  The simple fact is that the rosary has become a magic talisman to warn of evil.
(4) It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means LIE Mary continues to make promises which she can’t keep.  As we shall see there is a whole lot of these promises that if you recite the Rosary you will “receive Mercy of God”  Yet none of these promises will keep you out of purgatory.  IF THEY CANT KEEP YOU OUT OF PURGATORY THEN THE PROMISES GIVEN ARE FALSE.
(5) the soul which recommends itself to Me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish. LIE Follow Mary and all will be well.  Where does it say this in scripture?  Jesus says If you love him follow him.  He never said if you love me follow my mother.  Or talk to my Mum because she can sweet talk me around to her way of thinking.
(6)  Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries, shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.   LIE Notice what the promise says “God will not chastise him in his justice”  “He will not perish”  “He shall remain in the grace of God”  But none of this will work because she still has to save people from Purgatory.  Does it not say she can deliver from such a fate?  Clearly the answer is no.  Despite all the promises offered, they are not worth a dime as the Catholic is still punished by going to purgatory. Can any Catholic actually give a time scale on how long a person will spend in PURGATORY?
(7) Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.   LIE Still no good as the Catholic still lands up in purgatory.  It seems God grace is not quite sufficient to keep the soul out of purgatory.  So all the repetitions of the rosary has not worked.
(8) Those who are faithful in reciting the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.   LIE Now number 9 says she will deliver people from purgatory and yet here it says that at their death they will be rescued from such a fate by receiving the graces.  So which is it.  If they land up in purgatory then the graces received were no good?  This is like being told everything will be ok when in reality your going to die.
(9) I shall deliver from purgatory, those who have been devoted to the Rosary.   LIE So now Mary takes on the responsibility of saving people from Purgatory.  How does she know if there were faithful enough to be delivered unless she is omniscient?  Number 9 basically says you are going to purgatory anyway because she will deliver you “FROM “   Purgatory.
(10) The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven LIE Scripture no where mentions that some are rewarded more by reciting a repetitious prayers over and over and over.
(11) You shall obtain all you ask of Me by the recitation of the Rosary LIE John 15: 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.  Jesus says ask him.  His mother is never mentioned.  Why ask someone else when Jesus is already available ?
(12) All those who propagate the holy Rosary shall be aided by Me in their necessities LIE Heb 13: 5 Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE, NOR FORSAKE THEE.  This is Jesus promise to those who follow him. Mary is never mentioned!!  Nor can a finite creature have the power  to aid the many thousands who look to her at the same time.  She would have to be OMNIPRESENT AND OMNICIENT to achieve this.
(13) I have obtained from My Divine Son, that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessor, the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death LIE Jesus never once taught anything on this subject.  If anything he told the religious Jews to forsake repetitious prayers.Mat 6: 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Now you would have thought that Mary would have known what Jesus teaches on this.  But then this is not the Mary of the Bible.
(14) All who recite the Rosary are My sons, and brothers of My only son Jesus Christ LIE So all a person needs to do to become a son and daughter is to recite the rosary.  What did Jesus says.  Whoever does the will of my father is my brothers sisters and mother.  That included his mother Mary.
(15) Devotion to My Rosary is a great sign of predestination.  LIE Devotion to this rosary is a great sign that one has been hoodwinked.  Promises may have been made but this entity cant keep them and has no interest in doing so.

However where did the true origins of Prayer beads come from? Opinions vary from one author to another, however it is clear that prayer beads most certainly predate Catholicism and were widely used by many cultures pagan .

Other religions also use prayer beads.  Buddhism, Hinduism, Paganism and Islam employ have all used rosary beads as well.”

Janet Farrar & Gavin Bone in their publishing’s Sacred Mists Shoppe states “Prayer beads, or prayer rosaries, are really another form of the “witch’s ladder,” a knotted rope or cord used to count repetitions during a spell or ritual. Praying with beads is a spiritual practice with a long history in most of the world’s religions.”

Before the 12th century, rosaries were used for talismans (amulet or occult charms). Rosaries and prayer beads were intended by the catholic church hierarchy, for use by the ignorant.” -A HISTORY OF PRAYING ON BEADS  Patricia A. Dilley.

In 456 AD, Hindus are thought to have introduced the concept of praying with beads to the world. The earliest reference to a rosary (boberkhas) is in their “Jain Canon” (456 AD) These boberkhas had various numbers of beads 6,9,12,18,36 (any sub-multiple of 108) Islam (610 AD) uses a rosary of 99 beads, one for each of the names of God. Buddhists have 108 prayer beads on the string. The Rosary is of pagan origin and no Christian prior to 1000 AD used beads to pray.

Pagans had used prayer beads even before the 8th century

Often we use the phrase, Knock on wood – and proceed to do just that: knock on a table or a door or whatever wood is handy. Most do not know that the origin of the phrase and practice comes from the rosary. Rosaries in the old days were made of oak wood and were fingered in time of distress or trouble. Thus, holding on to or rubbing the wooden rosary or its wooden crucifix when danger was near became a common way for Catholics to deal with hardships and difficulties. The practice slipped into common use as Knock on wood. http://www.fresh-hope.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8117

The superstitious need to knock on wood has its origins with the rosary.   Cultures as diverse as the African Masai and Native American Yaqui have also used a form of prayer beads.  With some the origin simply started with a set number of pebbles used to recite their prayers. The first beads, made more than forty thousand years ago, were grooved pebbles, bones, and teeth. From the beginning, they had talismanic and symbolic connotations. Wearing an animal bone or tooth affirmed success in the hunt. The ancient Egyptians, whose use of beads goes back to 3200 B.C.E., called them sha sha – “luck.”

Aside from recitation of the vocal prayers, the Rosary includes meditation on the “MYSTERIES” and putting into practice what is meditated upon and expressed in vocal prayers. Catholics, then, may conclude, “the Holy Rosary is biblically based.” Meditating on important events in the life of Jesus and other virtuous servants of God and living it out in the daily life are indeed noble activities, but these activities can be done even without ritually reciting memorized prayers while using beads which the pagans also use. God’s people in the Bible practiced meditation and were prayerful, but none of them used vain repetitions or rosary beads in his prayers. Moreover, at least two of the so-called “MYSTERIES” involved in praying the Rosary are obviously not warranted by the Holy Scriptures. In announcing the “Fourth mystery – THE ASSUMPTION OF OUR LADY” in the so-called “GLORIOUS MYSTERIES,” it proclaims: “We recall how Jesus has taken His Mother to heaven with body and soul as a generous reward for her devoted love to Him while on earth.” How to Say the Rosary p. 22 Nowhere in the Bible can we find that “Jesus has taken His Mother to heaven with body and soul.”  When Jesus died he was around 33 years old, which would make Mary at least 50 years old.  The Acts and the Epistles covered at least another 50 years.  Upon which Mary would most certainly have died in that period.  There is simply no record anywhere of Mary ascending up into heaven as Jesus did.  The absence of anything predominantly about Mary says volumes.

In the “FIFTH MYSTERY – THE CORONATION OF OUR LADY IN HEAVEN” of your so-called “GLORIOUS MYSTERIES,” it announces: “We recall how Mary enter heaven and is greeted by the endless jubilation of angels and saints. Jesus sets upon her head the crown as Heaven’s Queen.” How to Say the Rosary p. 23 Regarding the “Glorious Mysteries,” the Pope John Paul II himself in his Apostolic Letter “The Rosary of the Virgin Mary” states: “In the Ascension, Christ was raised in glory to the right hand of the Father, while Mary herself would be raised to that same glory in the Assumption, enjoying beforehand, by a unique privilege, the destiny reserved for all the just at the resurrection of the dead. Crowned in glory – as she appears in the last glorious mystery – Mary shines forth as Queen of the Angels and Saints…” (p.16) Again, these teachings are without biblical basis.

Even the  Pope can not read from the Scriptures that Mary was “crowned in glory … as Queen of the Angels and Saints” and that “Jesus sets upon her head the crown as Heaven’s Queen.” As a matter of fact, no less that Catholic priests and authorities testify to the fact that Mary’s “Assumption” or being “taken … to heaven with body and soul” is not found in the Holy Scriptures: “There is no statement of the Assumption in Holy Scripture. Moreover, of we consult the historical writings of the first five centuries, we find them void of any historical data to certify that fact of the Assumption.” God the Redeemer by Charles G. Herzog p. 98 “There is no explicit reference to the assumption in the Bible, yet the Pope insists in the decree of promulgation that the Scriptures are the ultimate foundation of this truth.” New Catholic Encyclopedia Vol. I, 1967, p. 972 The Assumption, therefore, is nothing but just a mere assumption, and nothing more than a modern invention of men.

So why would God employ a method used widely among many pagan cultures which see people devote themselves to repetitious prayers , when even Jesus rejected such practices. Allow it to evolve over the centuries and then make a whole load of promises based not upon himself but upon a finite human being who is incapable of keeping those same promises?  What was originally believed as nothing more as a form of helping to repeating the psalms suddenly has changed to incorporate prayers to Mary?  The history of the rosary has come a long way from its infancy, in which we see a greater incorporating of Mary in a more progressive and predominant way.    Plus what is a good motivator is that Rosary beads make money.  Those who make such beads would see to it that their trade is not jeopardized.
