There re many undeniable connections between these people.  Some the connections are more fluent but there can be no doubt the influences existed and are proven to have existed. The List is by no means exhausted or complete.

In turn an entire generation of believers were influence with the teachings of another gospel.

In a recent debate on the issue of Joyce Meyers, the argument went something like this:

“But people are getting saved through her ministry”

The idea being that if Joyce and her fellow prosperity teachers are saving souls they cant be that bad.   I have a friend whose father in Law went to a Benny Hinn crusade and went forward to be saved.  After that they would not hear anything bad about Benny.

NOW IT A FAIR ENOUGH QUESTION IF THEY ARE WINNING CONVERTS SURELY THAT CAN’T BE BAD?

Now please notice that I have change the wording from actually being saved to winning converts, because numbers are not really a basis to determine if someone is genuine.  The appeal to converts does not in itself determine the message.  There is no doubt many cults including the rev Sun Moon of the unification church  and even Islam  all groupingboast in their numbers  as the principle basis that numbers somehow equals truth.   Yet we know their message is in no way genuine.

So the number game does not determine the message or the fruit.  Jesus had few followers at the end and yet his message and fruit was more than genuine.   Sadly it has become the principle debate that mega churches are automatically right simply because of their numbers.    We can’t go on that basis.  As scripture says Broad is the road that leads to destruction, and narrow is the road that leads to life.  The broad road is easy to find, but the narrow is so much harder to find, never mind squeeze through.

THE GOSPEL IS PREACHED FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS, SOME OF WHICH IS NOT ALWAYS OUT OF A GENUINE MOTIVE.

Phil 1: 16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds.

Just because someone preaches a gospel message:  Appears to use all the right terminology and even makes an altar call, is no guarantee they are the genuine article.  People have preached the gospel for many reasons.  Some of which have been for reasons altogether insincere.  Many have done so because there were dollar signs attached.   Such as with the case of Marjoe Gortner who for many years went on the preaching circuit, and accumulated vast sums of wealth.   He was brought up by his parents to be the boy preacher.  Many believed on him, followed him.  He preached and prayed for the sick and could speak in tongues as good as anyone.    Yet he is on record as never ever being a true believer.  He could say all the right things and make all the right moves, but was never the genuine article.   Yet how many bought into this mans message and dare I say anointing?  Just because a man claims he is anointed, does not mean he is?  In the end he did a final preaching tour with a camera team to expose just how easy people could be deceived.  Sadly many missed the lesson!!!!

2 Peter 2: 16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet

BUT WHAT IF A PERSON GETS SAVED THROUGH A FALSE TEACHER?

Balaam’s was rebuked by his ass and what the ass said was true.  Now did ass gather a following afterwards?  Just because a ass bore some fruit does not mean we should all follow the ass.  The ass may have been used once but the ass remained just an ass.    So someone may have been witness to by something someone said.  Still does not mean we follow the ass.    Plus and what makes this all the more important is the preacher is not the one who does the saving, God does.  Yet in listening to some you can’t help walk away with the thought that the preacher becomes the one who does.

There is an interesting line to point out here.  The messenger is still only the messenger.  A sign post on the road is still only a sign post, but he is never the vehicle that takes you to the end of the road.    So even if someone is convinced by an individual, like Joyce Meyers.  Joyce is not the one who saves, God alone saves the lost soul.  What many are actually pointing to is the fact that Copeland Osteen Meyers or the many others are actually doing is winning converts to themselves, rather than to the Lord.

IF NOT SAVED , THEN WHAT ARE THEY SAVED TO?

Heb 4: 2 For unto us was the gospelpreached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard [it].

It would seem that in some conversation with people, it becomes clear that it is not a matter that people are being saved to know the Lord, But that they are being converted to a certain individual.  What happens is that the convert instead of running after God, spends their time running after the messenger.  When the messenger falls the converts fall away.  It may not always happen,  they may come through to a genuine path and therefore to a genuine faith.  But when trust is misplaced and these pillow prophets will often package their message in such as way that they place themselves central to their message.  That people inevitable follow the individual thinking they are following God..

IT’S ALL IN HOW THE MESSAGE IS PACKAGED

There is great subtly in the way the prosperity message is packaged.  There is almost a two tier lever of consciousness to their message.  Yet whilst many hear one level they will embrace both.  One is a very vocal top message that’s very positive.   This message is very comfortable to embrace, health peace financial stability, divine health and how to love oneself.

There is a lot what I call mixture, where both truth and error are all blended in together and it takes almost a blowtorch to separate the two.

But the core lever of the message which drives the top message is altogether prejudice against the truth of scripture.  Both are inevitably embraced without the realisation that the core message is poison and dangerous to the soul.  I have talked with a number of Prosperity believers who would argue blind that Copeland, Hagin and others did not teach a specific aspect of their message.  Yet in the continual conversation on the subject they would begin to mimic the very thing they denied previously.  It is both curious and alarming that the individuals do not see this reality.  It takes some persuasion before even they begin to see that the truth of the falseness of these teachers is actually coming out of their own mouths.

The final level is probably the worst in this regard that they both see believe and accept that what is being taught by these people is not accord with scripture.  It is almost impossible to reach them without God.  At this level the individuals are so persuaded, and their conscience has been so seared and hardened that it almost impossible to reach.    They know what they believe and could not care that the doctrine they pursue is error.

To put is bluntly people are being brainwashed by this heresy.  Because this message is often repeated word for word, with only minor changes people are becoming subconsciously persuaded by it. Just as people are persuaded to buy the next new product on the market, so people are being persuaded in the same way.  The constant repetition of any product is eventually picked up by some consumer, so the message if listen to on a regular basis on Books TV and tape will eventually hit its mark.

I know of another dear friend who was involved in a church that embraced this heresy many years ago.  Whilst he knows that the prosperity teaching is wrong.  He totally rejects it as heresy.  Yet there are times he comes out with something that I can tell is from the prosperity Message.  Unless you are fully aware of why how and where you can miss the subtitle of this heresy, but once you see and grasp where it is wrong it sticks out like a boulder.

Joel Osteen’s new book 31 declarations to speak over your life is not new but simply a

WITH A GIFT OF $125 OR MORE

continuation of what many an oil snake salesmen have embarked on before hand.  Its not that one cannot be positive in what one confesses, but the belief that what one confesses will bring that blessing to you.   Osteen like most Prosperity teachers believe in the power of ones words.  So unless its confessed you cant have it.  If we are truly blessed then we don’t need to confess what  we already have, nor do we need to buy the books, tapes or the various gimmicks which go with it.  The coffee cup with the declarations written on the side will no doubt last less time with constant washing that the book will.  But it simply testifies to the gimmicks such men use.  Can anyone really see Jesus or his disciples selling such paraphernalia to make themselves a buck or two?

2 Peter 2: 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Truly this prophecy has come to pass in our modern church

The sad reality is that TV prosperity ministries, has become nothing more than a sales pitch gimmickry. By polished sales men with sleazy smiles and dressy clothes selling people what is inevitably a false message. It might soothe the conscience to sleep, but it will never transport them to a celestial home.

Where is the gospel message ? Where is the conviction where men trembled at the preaching of the word? Where is the reality of holiness and separation? Where is the truth about SIN.  Its ugliness,  and it power to separate the soul from God? Where is the message of fire and brimstone? Men might not like it but we need it. The cost is too great. Life is too short and eternity too long to be wooed to sleep. We all need the message that will arouse us out of our comfort zone , which will cut us to the heart and shock us to the realisation of our needs. The true gospel is not a matter of being positive or negative, But TRUTH and ERROR. The true Gospel brings conviction and change. The true gospel does not appeal to our flesh, its huts because it needs to.

No Osteen does not want to upset his members with such messages, Keep them in the dark about their souls . Keep them content with a coffee cup, a smile and a soothing message of peace and comfort.

1 Thes 5: 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape

In the end it is going to cost a lot of people far more than just a coffee cup as a reminder.

UCMINISTRIES :  The following is a testimony of someone who was in the Word of faith movement and saw things from the inside.  His concerns eventually drew him out of this movement.  The testimony is not mine and therefore I can’t take credit for it.   Please read this testimony with an open mind and aSk yourself what really did go on with Kenneth Hagin?

AFTER I RETURNED HOME FROM MICHIGAN, MY DOUBTS ABOUT KENNETH HAGIN, HIS TEACHINGS, AND HIS VISIONS BEGAN TO SWIRL AROUND IN MY HEAD LIKE A HURRICANE. I ALREADY HAVE A TOUCH OF OBSESSIVE, COMPULSIVE BEHAVIOR CONCERNING RELIGION, SO AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, THESE DOUBTS REALLY GOT A HOLD OF ME.

FIRST, LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT A STRANGE EXPERIENCE THAT I HAD SHORTLY AFTER WE HAD BOUGHT THE CHURCH PROPERTY AND MOVED OUR OFFICES INTO THE GUEST HOUSE. I HAD BEEN SURFING THE WEB, LOOKING UP KENNETH HAGIN ON GOOGLE, AS I FREQUENTLY DID. I WAS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW SERMONS, STORIES OR BITS OF INFORMATION ABOUT HIM.

NOW ANYONE THAT HAS EVER GOOGLED KENNETH HAGIN WILL FIND OUT IN A HURRY THAT THERE ARE LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF BLOGS, WEB SITES, VIDEOS, YOU TUBES AND SUCH THAT ATTACK HIM AND HIS TEACHING, BOTH PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY. THESE ARTICLES HAD ALWAYS GREATLY BOTHERED ME AND I WOULD ALWAYS TRY TO AVOID THEM. BUT ONE AFTERNOON I STARTED READING THEM.

I GOT A SICK, TWISTED, AWFUL FEELING IN MY STOMACH. I BECAME UPSET. ALL OF THESE THEOLOGIANS, EXPERTS, WRITERS, MINISTERS AND FORMER WORD OF FAITH PEOPLE WERE SHOOTING ALL KINDS OF HOLES IN BOTH HAGIN’S TEACHINGS AND TESTIMONIES. THIS REALLY BOTHERED ME. MOST EVERYTHING THAT I BELIEVED ABOUT GOD AND THE BIBLE HAD BEEN INFLUENCED BY KENNETH HAGINS TEACHINGS.

THEN SUDDENLY A THOUGHT FLASHED THROUGH MY MIND: “ONE DAY YOU WILL ATTACK KENNETH HAGIN’S TEACHING MORE THAN ANY OF THESE PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET”. OF COURSE I DISMISSED THIS AS THE DEVIL. BUT I REMEMBERED IT. IT SCARED ME. WAS IT THE VOICE OF GOD? WAS IT MY CONFUSION SPEAKING? MY SUBCONSCIOUS? I HAVE NO IDEA!

I BEGAN TO ASK GOD TO OPEN MY EYES IF I WAS IN DECEPTION. WAS KENNETH HAGIN A TRUE PROPHET OF GOD? DID HE REALLY MEET JESUS FACE TO FACE IN EIGHT SEPERATE TEACHING VISIONS? DID KENNETH HAGIN REALLY VISIT JESUS UP IN FRONT OF THE THRONE ROOM OF GOD ALMIGHTY? DID JESUS CHRIST REALLY LAY HIS HANDS ON KENNETH HAGIN TO GIVE HIM A SPECIAL HEALING ANOINTING? DOD ANGELS REALLY APPEAR TO HIM? HAD KENNETH HAGIN REALLY HEARD THE AUDIBLE VOICE OF GOD ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS?

HAD I EVER SEEN KENNETH HAGIN HEAL ANYONE? HAD I EVER SEEN HIM PREFORM A REAL MIRACLE? KENNETH HAGIN HAD ALWAYS TESTIFIED THAT HE HAD BEEN BORN WITH A DEFORMED HEART AND A RARE INCURABLE BLOOD DISEASE, AND THAT HE WAS HEALED BY ACTING ON MARK 11:24 AFTER BEING TAUGHT HOW TO OPERATE IN FAITH BY JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF. BUT HAD I EVER EVEN HEARD OF THE TRUE DIAGNOSIS AND NAME OF THE DISEASE?

HAD I EVER SEEN MEDICAL REPORTS OR DOCTORS TESTIMONY ABOUT THIS HEALING MIRACLE? WHAT WAS THE NAME OF THE BLOOD DISEASE? HE HAD SAID THAT HIS BLOOD WAS WATERY AND ORANGE. WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HIM? HAD I EVER HEARD ANY EYE WITNESSES TESTIFY TO THIS MIRACLE? ANY DOCTORS? ANY PUBLISHED MEDICAL DOCUMENTATION? NO!

WHAT ABOUT THE PLAGIARISM CHARGES AND DENIALS? IT WAS AND IS A KNOWN FACT THAT KENNETH HAGIN PLAGIARIZED THE NEW AGE WRITINGS OF EW KENYON AND CLAIMED TO HAVE RECEIVED THEM FROM THE SPIRIT OF GOD. I KNOW THAT HE WAS SUED BY KENYON’S DAUGHTER OVER THIS, AND THAT THEY SETTLED OUT OF COURT, BUT WHY DID HAGIN NEVER CLEAR THIS UP PUBLICLY? I HAD SEEN THE SIDE BY SIDE EVIDENCE MANY TIMES. HAD KENNETH HAGIN OUT RIGHT LIED?

WHAT ABOUT KENNETH HAGIN’S CLAIMS TO HAVE WALKED IN DIVINE HEALTH AND NEVER BEING SICK? I HAD A FRIEND THAT WAS A PHARMACY TECH AT ST. FRANCIS HOSPITAL IN TUKLSA, THAT WAS ALSO A FELLOW RHEMA GRAD. HE TOLD ME THAT HE HAD FILLED KENNETH HAGIN’S HEART MEDICINE FOR YEARS AT THE PHARMACY. SO, WAS KENNETH HAGIN BEING MISLEADING IN HIS TEACHING ABOUT WALKING IN DIVINE HEALTH?

I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT KENNETH HAGIN’S WIFE WAS TREATED FOR CANCER FOR YEARS. WHY DIDN’T THAT SPECIAL HEALING ANOINTING WORK FOR HER? WHY HAD I NOT SEEN ANY HEALINGS AND MIRACLES IN ANY OF THE HUNDREDS OF SERVICES AND CLASSES THAT I ATTENDED FOR FOURTEEN YEARS? WHY WOULDN’T KENNETH HAGIN TALK TO ME AND CONI AFTER OUR DAUGHTER JENNIFER DIED OF A BRAIN TUMOR? WHY DID SO MANY CLOSE ASSOCIATES AND FAMILY MEMBERS OF KENNETH HAGIN GOT CANCER AND DIE JUST LIKE REGUALR FOLKS IF HAGIN HAD THIS SPECIAL ANOINTING?

THE QUESTIONS WERE SWIRLING, I COULD NOT SLEEP, AND NO ONE AT RHEMA WOULD ANSWER MY QUESTIONS.

Just for the cameras or for real?

The internet is rife with the new of Benny and Suzanne Hinn reconciliation.  Whilst we hope and pray that they will be truly reconciled, the honest truth is I have my doubts.  Something does not add up.   Benny’s own web site has an open letter which states

“Reconciliation Is Rapidly Taking Place.”

But reconciliation is not the same as reconciled.  It’s a process which has not got a conclusion yet.  So things could still go wrong.

The other thing which deeply troubles me.  Benny during his divorce was seen blaming himself for his absence as the main reason his marriage broke down.  He was as he says too preoccupied with the ministry.  Now according to Benny  and Suzanne the real problem was Suzanne’s addiction to prescription medication which made her act erratic.

At the same time, my wife, Suzanne started taking certain prescription medications to help her cope with some of her personal struggles. She became dependent on those for nearly 15 years, and those medications made her behave erratically at times. As her husband, I did not know the extent of her reliance on these medications, nor did I fully understand just how much harm they were causing to her, physically and emotionally

Source :  http://www.bennyhinn.org/emailletters/8856/reconciliation-is-rapidly-taking-place/?referrer=na_eb060912

Now here is where things get a bit odd.  Benny says on this open letter

After our marriage ended, Suzanne decided that she needed professional help to gain freedom from her chemical dependence and checked herself into the Betty Ford Center in early 2010. And for three and a half months she underwent exhaustive treatment. Today she is totally set free from the need for these medications—she is completely whole.

Yet we now know from Suzanne herself that this visit took place in February 2011.  Simply mistake on Benny’s part that he can’t tell what year his wife went to get treatment perhaps? We know it was not 2010 because Suzanne was preaching at the Esther conference which ran from March 26-28 of that year.

Now I don’t doubt going by past videos that she was addicted to something and needed help.

Now this brings me to another issue Benny Himself.  Why did Suzanne need the Help of the Betty Ford Clinic when her husband claims that Gods uses him to heal?  So very often the major players in these ministries more often than not are unable to heal those closest to them.  Now why did Benny not know or mention this before hand.  Suddenly we have this new revelation which not only explains all, but now becomes the means to possibly excuse everything as well?

Now what really makes me smell the proverbial rat is the way it is being publicized?  It’s all over the net.  Should not such reconciliation be kept for a season reasonably quiet?  Suddenly the whole emphasis has changed from GOD –MINISTRY- and then the FAMILY to GOD -FAMILY – and then the MINISTRY.  Now I don’t disagree with that, but from what I have seen it is still GOD –MINISTRY-  and then the FAMILY.    That’s the spin Benny and Suzanne is putting on it.  Instead of taking time out to be reconciled they are taking time out to publicize their reconciliation of their ministries.   publically and in front of the cameras.  Suddenly Suzanne is now his preaching partner in the ministry.  In fact when you listen to the various videos going around Benny time after time repeats the fact “ We are more than ever committed to the Ministry,”  So where is the family part of this?  It is still  at the bottom of the list where it was before.  Continually Benny talks about the “ministry must continue and the preaching of the gospel must be preached , ”  But that was the very thing he declared broke his marriage up to start with.  So has anything really REALLY CHANGED?

Talk about the spin he makes on this on his website.  This is what he goes on to say:

The last three and a half years were painful, not only for our family but also for this ministry.  The ministry suffered greatly as many partners walked away, not knowing the truth about our situation. Sue and I are praying that many of those who left will come back and stand with us.

Often what’s on a person’s mind is the thing that comes out.    In this case the need for money and the ministry.

But we must have your help. The ministry has suffered financially greatly because of the struggles in our marriage. We are beginning to see an upsurge now, but we truly need a miracle to be able to do what God has called us to do.

I can say now that the ministry was on the way to total collapse, but now we are seeing a beautiful turnaround—in fact, members of my team have rejoined the ministry, including my beloved friend Jim Cernero, who is back with me leading the praise and worship in my meetings. I want you to be part of the breakthrough we are experiencing together, and that’s why Suzanne and I need you, now more than ever, to stand with us prayerfully and financially

As I ask you to prayerfully consider planting your most generous seed this month, I am believing with you for three very specific miracles:

  1. 1.     All losses will stop in your life.
  2. 2.     You will have total restoration and recovery in your finances, your life, and your family. God will restore the years the locust has eaten (Joel 2:25).
  3. 3.     Total abundance will come your way.

About two years ago the Lord spoke to me to give a monthly gift to a man of God, which I continue to do to this day. As I obeyed the Lord, I remember the Lord saying to me, “Because you obeyed Me, there will be no more losses in your life. Because you obeyed Me, there will be total restoration in your life. Because you obeyed Me, there will be total abundance.” I thought at the time that the Lord meant in the area of finances. What I am seeing now is that He meant a whole lot more. Not long after that, a couple paid for the legal fees for Sue and me. Now, God has gone so much beyond that, and today our marriage is restored, our family is restored, and I believe abundance is truly on the way! And I’m believing the same for you. It all begins with obedience. It’s not a matter of luck or chance. It’s pure obedience. Prosperity is not an accident. Prosperity is the promise of God. And only when we obey will He bless us and reward us and prosper us: “If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures” (Job 36:11). Plant your best seed toward the Gospel of Jesus Christ today. I await hearing from you! Let’s work together to preach the Gospel, bringing the message of hope and healing to the multitudes and homes around the globe! You are truly the greatest, my wonderful, sweet partner. Sue and I love you very much, and you mean so much to us—today more than ever,

MOST OF HIS LETTER WAS ABOUT GETTING MONEY AND MAKING PROMISES THAT IF YOU GIVE TO HIS MINISTRY YOU WILL BECOME PROSPEROUS.  Now according to Benny he has just got back to his wife and all he can talk about is Money.  Hmm what does that say?   In fact in this letter what or who is he claiming was responsible for healing his marriage, God or his giving?

Now I honestly hope that their marriage is healed and really restored, But not at the cost of SPIN!!!  I think the thing that makes me concerned is that what they are doing is just for the cameras.  Showing a united front for no other reason than to restore their finances.  The make believe world that TV shows pump out for the viewing public.

Now you would think that such an open letter would all be about the reconciliation.  How they got back, what their plans are together.  How they intend to make sure their marriages work.  In fact on one video he was busy plugging his video on marriage.  Yet how can he plug a video on marriage when he says he and Suzanne will be seeking counselling for their marriage?

The sad part is that Benny is still a false teacher peddling his prosperity teachings.  From the way Suzanne talks she is in total agreement even to giving God permission to work in their lives.  Does God even need our verbal permission to do something?  If Suzanne was addicted to prescription Drugs, then Benny is addicted to the ministry.  I wonder what he will do to treat his addiction, because until both addictions are dealt with I doubt if true happiness will materialise.

Recently News has spread that Todd Bentley was in Britain preaching.  It took me a little while to track down what church in Wales he was visiting.  Now we have thanks to Todd Bentley own face book site.  The church was pastor by Robert and Helen King  and is called TWO LOCKS CHURCH.

The church advertises itself :

Two Locks Church is Independent, Christ-centred, Bible-based, and charismatic. Every Sunday we have people from all different walks of life and of different nationalities meeting in harmony to celebrate Christ and his Kingdom.

One of the main feature along with a puppet ministry is a “TACF Soaking Centre.

Mr and Mrs King with Mr and Mrs Bentley

SOAKING  Is just a christianised form of  Transcendental Meditation, which is also popular with the Todd Bentley.

Affiliations & links: Evangelical Alliance, Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship .  (This description just about says it all.)

On its blog where some of the pastors teaching Robert makes this statement:

God has given us His faith, you either have it or you don’t and when we become disciples of Him He gives us His faith.  There is never a day when we are faithless as the faith He put on the inside of us doesn’t come and go! We can step out in faith every day, it’s not about how we feel, it’s about what He has given us…..  This is not about ‘my faith’ it’s about ‘His faith’ living in me….For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)

Is a Christian’s faith always alive?  James 2:17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. (NKJV)  In other words, it doesn’t do anything if we don’t use it!  Jesus said, ‘You will lay hands on the sick and they will recover!’ But if we don’t lay hands on the sick then nothing will happen!

Confess this truth out loud now, ‘He’s given me His faith and His faith works’”

The terminology of receiving “Gods faith” is usually reminiscent of word of Faith teachings so common with Kenneth Hagin .    God himself does not need faith.  As faith means trusting in someone, who is God going to put his trust in?  God can impart faith to the believer to help us have faith in God, but God himself does not need faith.  Then there is the confessing “this truth” Also very reminiscent of Word of Faith.  Where those who confess believe they will possess.  In the end it is not God they put their trust in but the words they confess.   By making and speaking the right words you will create your own reality.  However that is nothing more than New Age witchcraft.  Words spoken in the right way is nothing more than reciting a spell.

It has been my understanding that Todd has been gravitating towards Kenneth Hagin’s  Occult teachings for some time.  This has now been proven by his latest teaching called:

THE POWER OF PROPHETIC DECREES

As you read a part of Todd’s Article, you will soon notice that it’s full of typical buzz words which the prosperity teachers are noted for.

This is a two-part teaching entitled, The Power of Prophetic Decrees. Part 1 will help you understand why God gives us prophetic words, visions, and revelations, and examines and uncovers those things that hinder the fulfillment of God’s prophetic word in our lives. Many are missing the mark of their calling, and the words that have come to us from God remain unfulfilled. Next week’s Part 2 teaching will continue with the quest for success in appropriating what God has promised us. We’ll learn how to war for our words, and how we can effectively shoot prophetic arrows into the heavens to “scatter the demonic cohorts.”

How many prophetic promises and words spoken over your life have you yet to see birthed? Every believer has prophetic promises from heaven whether God has revealed something that we would accomplish for Him, something that we would become, or something that we would see Him do in our lifetime. Prophetic words are authoritative words that Scripture says we would “do well to pay attention to” (2 Peter 1:19).

Countless believers have waited years to realize the fulfillment of prophetic words spoken over them, or revelations from visions or dreams. Do you ever wonder what to do with them, how to act upon them, or how to ensure the fulfillment of them in your life or ministry? How do we bring the words of the Lord to pass? What hinders the fulfillment of them?

Recently, the Lord showed me that through our prophetic decrees, He also releases angels to battle the forces of the enemy to bring us what is rightfully ours! That’s part of their job description!

I hope to give some insight in this teaching on how you can make prophetic decrees and proclamations into the heavens, which will hasten and bring to pass the Word of the Lord. I want you to understand your responsibility with God-given promises and visions and how you can partner with God to realize your destiny.

Prophetic words and promises are personal, specific to our lives as individuals, our families, or our ministries. They may also be intended for cities, regions, peoples, and nations. They are always in line with the Word, the Bible right from Genesis through to Revelation. However, I want to focus primarily on those words that God has given to us personally, those rhema words. Rhema words and God’s Word are a powerful combination that can activate our divine destiny

>>>IT’S OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BIRTH HIS WORD<<<<

>>>LET IT BE TO ME ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD<<<<

Know your authority, and be vigilant. Even Mary understood this principle regarding prophetic words. After her prophetic word from the angel she responded and prophetically decreed, “Let it be to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). She lined herself up with the Word from heaven, pulled it out of the spiritual realm into existence, and birthed it.

In Him Todd Bentley Fresh Fire USA

The major flaw with Kenneth Hagin was his teachings on THE RHEMA WORD.  Like many false teachers who want to introduce extra Biblical teachings he had to separate the Bible (logos) written word for the NEW PROPHETIC WORD of Kenneth Hagin.  Thus he elevated the word  Rhema and with it his teachings above the Bible.  Thus the bible itself was judged according to his revelation and not the other way round.

For a Further study on the RHEMA  and how the New testament writers used  them  click here. or go over to my Box account and scroll down until you see the article on the truth about the rhema  word.

What many do not realise is that Rhema and Logos where used interchangeable throughout the New Testament and applied to both the written and spoken word of God.  The New Testament writers did not make any separation in how both those words were used.

For many who feel the need to go around making decrees or a Positive confession about their healings.  There are plenty of grave yards full of people who confessed but never possessed.  But the saddest part was the lies they told in confessing their healings when they were never healed.

It looks like both Todd Bentley and Two Locks Church have a lot more of a connection than just being charismatic. We must also remind ourselves that despite all his bold confession of prophetic decrees his own marriage failed.  I suspect he had no intention of saving it either.  What we must remember is that Todd Bentley is a blatant adulterer and now parades his adultery everywhere he goes

Churches are NOW  supposed to look the other way and say AMEN and BLESS YOU!!!!.  It only shows how far the church has slipped and prostituted itself.  Any Pastor with an ounce of integrity would send this pimp packing.   The sad state of the charismatic movement today is the ever-growing desperation for signs and wonder.  Such is the desperation that just about anything and everything is tolerated.   I fear that this desperation will set many up for an end time deception.  The Bible clearly warns us and yet today many ignore that warning at their own peril.  This drive for signs and wonders has become nothing more than an addiction, and men like Bentley feed it.   Like all addictions eventually people will not bother where they get their highs from, so long as they get their weekly fix

There may be some who will say  “ But he has repented “ ,  but I would say how did he show his repentance?

Go back to his wife and ask forgiveness?  NO.   He simply carried on with his adultery, divorced his wife and married his mistress.  That’s not repentance.  To repent is to change direction.  Todd never changed direction.  In the end he got exactly what he wanted.   Repentance is more than simply saying sorry and carrying on regardless.  What many saw with Todd and Rick Joyner famous video chats was nothing more than a sham of a show piece.  Far too many people had invested too much money, time and predictions to simply let Todd simply disappear from the scene.

The one thing we can be certain of is that those who desire to get into bed with the Todd Bentley’s of this world is that they  have no love for the truth,  and no love  for God,

Michael Houke has done an amazing job at collecting many of the names and teachings of the the WORD OF FAITH (WOF) .   Many of these teachers might have pedated others,  But their influence has played  a major part in what we now know as the prosperity gospel. UC Ministries.

The Word-Faith Movement gets its teachings from E.W. Kenyon (1867-1948) and recently from Kenneth Hagin and Kenneth Copeland. Kenyon got many of his teachings from Metaphysical cults such as New Age Thought, Christian Science, and Gnosticism. There are basically five doctrines of this movement, they are as follows:

1. Revelation Knowledge
2. Tongues
3. Faith
4. Healing
5. Prosperity

Another name for this movement/cult is the popular “ Prosperity Gospel”. Summed up briefly this movement believes that based on the amount of one’s faith they can say it or will it and they can have all the riches they desire. One proponent of this movement, Frederick K.C. Price once said; I drive a Rolls Royce because I have a Rolls Royce kind of faith, if you drive a Volkswagen it’s because you have a Volkswagen kind of faith. This non-sense is taught nowhere in scripture and is completely heretic.

Some of the more well known Preachers of this Movement/Cult are as follows:

Other than teaching that the bible wants us to be rich, many of them teach that we are “little gods”. They understand/justify that because we are created in God’s Image, therefore we are little gods with a small “g”. This teaching is highly heretic. Nowhere in scripture does it state that man can become a God or even remotely alludes to the fact that man can become a God, even with a little “g”. They claim that they receive revelation knowledge from God about their teachings. Where can we find this in the Bible? When the Canon of scripture was closed it was finished, we are never told that in the latter years we will receive new and updated information that will be on par or equal with the Bible.

Here is some of the outlandish things that they teach:

1. Faith is a force (Star Wars)
2. Man can become a God
3. Jesus was a rich man
4. Jesus wore designer clothes
5. Jesus stayed at the best places while on tour
6. Because Jesus had a treasurer, he had to be rich
7. Jesus went to hell and battled Satan
8. Jesus was tortured in hell
9. Jesus was born again in hell
10. Jesus rose from the grave in order for believers to become little Gods
11. Believers can control illness and sickness based on their faith
12. Believers have the power to touch and heal others, like Jesus
13. Believers have the power to raise people from the dead
14. Believers receive new revelation knowledge
15. Believers are no longer sinners
16. Believers can talk money into their wallets and purses
17. Holy Laughter is a gift from God
18. They elevate man to God status and reduce God to man’s status
.

Let’s see what these preachers have to say in their own words:

Paul Crouch : “We gotten so caught up in theology and debating and discussing theology and nit picking on this, and the heretic hunters have smokescreen the whole thing.” (The Christian Channel Europe “Praise The Lord” 14/6/98)

Benny Hinn : “Now I am going to read one scripture and then I am going to preach and the Devil is going to drop dead.” (The Christian Channel Europe “Praise The Lord” (TBN) 22/2/98)
Kenneth Copeland : “Faith is a power force. It is a tangible force. It is a conductive force.” (The Force of Faith [Fort Worth, TX: KCP Publications, 1989], 10.)

Kenneth Copeland : “You don’t think earth was first, do you? Huh? Well, you don’t think that God made man in His image, and then made earth in some other image? There is not anything under this whole sun that’s new. Are you hearing what I’m saying? This is all a copy. It’s a copy of home. It’s a copy of the Mother Planet. Where God lives, He made a little one just like His and put us on it.” (“Following the Faith of Abraham I” [Fort Worth, TX: Kenneth Copeland Ministries, 1989], audiotape #01-3001, side 1.)

Paul Crouch, speaking to Kenneth Copeland, said : “Somebody said–I don’t know who said it–but they claim that you Faith teachers declare that we are gods. You’re a god. I’m a god. Small ‘g’ now, but we are the gods of this world. . . . Well, are you a god–small ‘g’?” To this, Jan Crouch, referring to Copeland, enthusiastically exclaimed: “He’s gonna say, ‘Yes.’ I love it.” (“Praise the Lord” program on TBN [5 February 1986].)

Paul Crouch : “He [God] doesn’t even draw a distinction between Himself and us. . . . You know what else that’s settled, then, tonight? This hue and cry and controversy that has been spawned by the Devil to try and bring dissension within the body of Christ that we are gods. I am a little god! . . . I have His name. I’m one with Him. I’m in covenant relation. 1 am a little god! Critics, be gone!” (“Praise the Lord” program on TBN [7 July 1986].)

Frederick K.C. Price : “God can’t do anything in this earth realm except what we, the body of Christ, allow Him to do. Now that statement is so–that’s so–that’s so foreign and so contrary to tradition that, like I said, if they could get their hands on me right now most evangelicals would burn me at the stake and dismember me and feed me to the crocodiles, because they’ll consider that statement to be just heresy.” (“Ever Increasing Faith” program on TBN [1 May 1992], audiotape #PR11.) Cf. chapter 6, 85.

Kenneth Copeland : “Adam was made in the image of God. He was as much female as he was male. He was exactly like God. Then God separated him and removed the female part. Woman means ‘man with the womb.’ Eve had as much authority as Adam did as long as they stayed together.” (Sensitivity of Heart [Fort Worth, TX: KCP Publications, 1984], 23.)

Kenneth Copeland : “I was shocked when I found out who the biggest failure in the Bible actually is….The biggest one is God….I mean, He lost His top-ranking, most anointed angel; the first man He ever created; the first woman He ever created; the whole earth and all the Fullness therein; a third of the angels, at least–that’s a big loss, man. . . . Now, the reason you don’t think of God as a failure is He never said He’s a failure. And you’re not a failure till you say you’re one.” (“Praise-a-Thon” program on TBN [April 1988].)

John Avanzini : “Jesus had a nice house, a big house–big enough to have company stay the night with Him at the house. Let me show you His house. Go over to John the first chapter and I’II show you His house. . . . Now, child of God, that’s a house big enough to have company stay the night in. There’s His house.” (“Believer’s Voice of Victory” program on TBN [20 January 1991].)

John Avanzini : “Jesus was handling big money because that treasurer He had was a thief. Now you can’t tell me that a ministry with a treasurer that’s a thief can operate on a few pennies. It took big money to operate that ministry because Judas was stealing out of that bag.” (“Praise the Lord” program on TBN [15 September 1988].)

John Avanzini : “John 19 tells us that Jesus wore designer clothes. Well, what else you gonna call it? Designer clothes–that’s blasphemy. No, that’s what we call them today. I mean, you didn’t get the stuff He wore off the rack. It wasn’t a one-size-fits-all deal. No, this was custom stuff. It was the kind of a garment that kings and rich merchants wore. Kings and rich merchants wore that garment.” “Believer’s Voice of Victory” program on TBN [20 January 1991].)

.Frederick K C. Price : “The Bible says that He [Jesus] had a treasurer–a treasury (they called it “the bag”); that they had one man who was the treasurer, named Judas Iscariot; and the rascal was stealing out of the bag for three-and-a-half years and nobody knew that he was stealing. You know why? Because there was so much in it, He couldn’t tell. Nobody could tell that anything was missing. If He had three oranges in the bottom of the bag and he stole two of them, don’t tell me He wouldn’t know that some was missing. Beside that, if Jesus didn’t have anything, what do you need a treasury for? A treasury is for surplus. It’s not for that which you’re spending. It’s only for surplus–to hold it until you need to spend it. Therefore, He must have had a whole lot that needed to be held in advance that He wasn’t spending. So He must have had more than He was living on.” (“Ever Increasing Faith” program on TBN [23 November 1990].)

John Avanzini : ‘You don’t think these Apostles didn’t walk around with money? I mean, they had money. I just thank God that I saw this and gave up the denominational line and got on God’s line before I starved me and all my family to death. Go to Acts 24. 1 mean. you don’t think there wasn’t money in this Paul’s life!. . . Paul had the kind of money that people, that government officials, would, would block up justice to try to get a bribe out of old Paul.” (“Believer’s Voice of Victory” program on TBN [20 January 1991].)

Kenneth Copeland : “That Word of the living God went down into that pit of destruction and charged the spirit of Jesus with resurrection power! Suddenly His twisted, death-wracked spirit began to fill out and come back to life. He began to look like something the devil had never seen before.” (“The Price of it All,” Believer’s Voice of Victory 19, 9 [September 1991]:4.)

Kenneth Copeland : “He [Jesus] was literally being reborn before the devil’s very eyes. He began to flex is spiritual muscles. . . .Jesus was born again–the firstborn from the dead the Word calls Him–and He whipped the devil in his own backyard. He took everything he had away from him. He took his keys and his authority away from him.” (Ibid., 4-6.)

Benny Hinn : “When you say, ‘I am a Christian, you are saying, ‘I am mashiach’ in the Hebrew. I am a little messiah walking on earth, in other words That is a shocking revelation…. May I say it like this? You are a little god on earth running around.” (“Praise-a-Thon” program on TBN [6 November 1990].)

I think enough has been said, sadly millions of people give their hard earned money to these wolves in sheep clothing, believing that all they teach will get them to heaven, but it is another gospel and another gospel cannot save anyone! Galatians 1:6-9 says it all, There is only one Gospel, and the prosperity gospel is not the one

This was posted on my FB.  It was intended as a Joke; a bit of sarcasm if you like; however there are some interesting points here.  TBN as a channel has been at the forefront of a lot of strange doctrines never mind strange teachers.

The Trinity Broadcasting Network is it Biblical Right?    by Michael Houke

Founders and co-leaders Paul and Jan Crouch
You mean the Trinity Broadcasting Network? Nah! You’re kidding me right? They
stopped dabbling in that doctrinal doo doo years ago. They now have Holy Ghost
machine guns to mow down their distracters. Here is a list of what makes them
so wonderfully and cheerfully made Christians.

1. They are little gods, little “g”.

2. They have water fights with Jesus. (In heaven of course).

3. They raise the dead from their caskets.

4. They talk to the dead and pray with them at their gravesites.

5. They no longer sin.

6. They have nine (9) count them nine God heads in their trinity. (We have only
3).

7. They have a Rolls Royce Kind of Faith! (What do we have a Neon)?

8. They have holy water from a river in Russia. (Do You)?

9. They kick ladies in their heads.

10. They laugh their tails off in the name of Jesus.

11. They prophesize in the name of Jesus.

12. They need only be 33% accurate to be a prophet of God. (They set their own
standard)

13. They know that Jesus suffered in Hell! He got his tail kicked!

14. They know that God is the biggest loser in the Bible.

15. They heal the sick and wounded by a simple touch.

But wait there’s more!!

16. They talk money into their wallets.

17. They too cast out demons! Just Like Jesus!

18. They get special revelations from God all the time.

19. They roar like Lions for Jesus

20. They do the chicken Walk for Jesus.

21. They allow animals to be saved! (Squirrels too)

22. They endorse the Lovely Masonic Lodge.

23. They rub elbows with the fun guys from the Shriners!

24. They get down on Azuza Street with the best of them.

25. They do away with Heresy hunters. Be Gone They say!

26. They preach while lying on their backs. (Do we? And without a Bible! Top
That!)

27. They have a special anointing from God.

28. They have preachers riding in first class and coach!

29. They know Jesus was handling big money!! (ask any of them)

30. Jesus and the Apostles stayed at the finest establishments while on tour.
(And so do they)

31. Jesus was handling big money. (And so do they)

32. Jesus wore designer robes. (And so do they)

33. The Apostles spoke in supernatural tongues. (And so do they)

34. Jesus cast out Demons. (And so do they)

35. They can get a whole congregation speaking in tongues all at once. (Wow
even Jesus and the Apostles couldn’t do that)

36. And last but not least, they have done away with the trinity. They didn’t
need it after all.

Now exactly why do they call it the Trinity Broadcasting Network?

Well just how good is all that. If only the rest of us could receive their
special anointing!! Why, we too could be on the Trinity Broadcasting Network
Proclaiming the Doctrine of Demons just like they do!! Can you see what we are
missing? We are letting our best life now slip right out of our hands, right
before our very own eyes. But it is never too late. Get some of that Russian
river water from Peter Popoff and drink it daily. Miracles and all the promises
of the Bible will come your way. Or get some trinklets from Marilyn Hickey they
will help you get the anointing and then you can talk money into your wallet. I
hear Oral Roberts is still offering prayer hankies. There is much more you can
do, just watch the show and see for yourself.

Have a blessed life now!!

“The parade of guests who are featured on Paul and Jan Crouch’s TBN programming runs the gamut from the serious, sound Christian thinkers and ministers to the superficial, silly, and outright heretical. How many viewers can tell the difference? How many care to try? Spiritual gullibility is widespread throughout out culture, of course, but the Word-Faith movement is part of the problem, not part of the solution(“The Word-Faith Controversy” by Robert M. Bowman Jr.)

Quotes Who said this?      answer at the end.

He [God] doesn’t even draw a distinction between Himself and us. You know what else that’s settled, then, tonight? This hue and cry and controversy that has been spawned by the Devil to try and bring dissension within the body of Christ that we are gods. I am a little god! I have His name. I’m one with Him.  I’m in covenant relation. I am a little god! Critics, be gone! (Praise The Lord, July 7, 1986)

2 Cor 11: 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ…

Ecumenicalism may be good for buisness but it is not good for the gospel !

“On October 17 [1989], Paul and Jan Crouch welcomed three Catholics to their Praise the Lord program: two
priests and a woman lay leader. Paul displayed his usual naïveté and incredible ignorance of theology by smoothing over any differences between Protestants and Catholics as ‘simply matters of semantics.’ In his eager embrace of Transubstantiation, a heresy so great that thousands died at the stake rather than accept it, he declared: ‘Well, we [Protestants] believe the same thing. So you see one of these things that has divided us all of these years [Transubstantiation] shouldn’t have divided us all along because we were really meaning the same thing but just saying it a little differently. … I [am] eradicating the word Protestant even out of my vocabulary. … I’m not protesting anything anymore … it is … time for Catholics and non-Catholics to come together as one in the Spirit and one in the Lord.’ But Catholics have a different gospel of salvation by works and ritual through the essential mediation of that Church.”

CONCLUDING NOTE BY BROTHER CLOUD:

This is dated news, but it is timely and relevant, all the same. The charismatic movement and its experience- and emotion-based ecumenicism is one of the adhesives of end-times apostasy. Another is Contemporary Christian Music. It is a unifying factor that is not founded on sound doctrine. One of the great sins and errors of modern evangelicalism is its silence in the face of such things. How many influential evangelicals have reproved Paul Crouch and TBN publicly? Charles Swindoll is typical. He says that though he disagrees with charismatic theology, he doesn’t “shoot great volleys of theological artillery” at them (Grace Awakening, p. 188). This is inaccurate and a silly statement. Reproving sin and heresy is not “shooting” people. It is an act of love for God and His truth and it is an act of compassion toward those who are being led astray. We are commanded to “earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). Spiritual pacifism and reproving sin and error in generalities might broaden your ministry and support base, but it won’t get the job done for full-orbed truth in this dark world

There can be NO doubt that TBN and its hosts Paul and Jan Crouch have served the cause of promoting ecumenicalism and false teaching for longer than most TV channels.  The fact that they may occasionaly have the odd sound speaking does not outway the vast majority of the false that appear on their TV stations.

Eph 4: 14 That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

TBN is nothing more than a tree swaying in the wind.  Being swayed in whatever direction the wind is blowing.  Swayed by whatever theological and emotional presentation that passes.  Having no solid foundation and no anchor to keep them sound, and in the end they will grasp whatever is floating passed them.   This is not the basic for eternity.

Answer to the quote is : Paul Crouch.

Annise Parker, the newly-elected happens-to-be-lesbian mayor of Houston was sworn in Monday and the opening prayer was given by … Rev. Joel Osteen.

Houston Mayor Annise Parker, right,, holds hands with her partner Kathy Hubbard, left,

Is your head spinning? Osteen heads the nation’s most mega of evangelical non-denominational megachurches, Lakewood Church in Houston where about 45,000 people cycle through a revamped sports stadium for services every weekend.

Osteen has been all over telling folks (Larry King, Whoopi Goldberg) for years that homosexuality is not “God’s best.” I presume he means “God’s best choice” because otherwise I’m lost in the dropped or implied rest of the sentence. But “God’s best” is phrase Osteen never finishes so I’m just guessing.

Yet, Osteen hasn’t joined the more strident wing of the religious right in damning gays. Indeed, Osteen takes heat from other evangelicals who condemn him for not laying down a line of fire about sin of any kind. That’s not his style, says the preacher known for his broad smile and sermons that God wants you to be happy. Osteen’s best seller was titled, Your Best Life Now.

Article by Grossman, USA TODAY

UC Ministries:

Should all this surprise us?  Not for a second.   Osteen by definition is basically what you would call a “motivational speaker”, he likes to give people what they want to hear.  The integrity of the gospel means very little to him.  He is what the Bible calls a hireling.  He is in it for the money and the fame.   Joel Osteen is very much into the prosperity Gospel as was his father John Osteen.

“Joel’s father, John Osteen, was into the word faith teaching of Kenneth Hagin and Kenneth Copeland. In late 1998-99 he became sick. The church that was also trained in word faith philosophies began their positive confessions saying, “God has promised him that he will be preaching into his early 90’s, and he is only 77 now. God gave him a vision for “Seven Years of Harvest”, and we are just beginning our 6th year of this special thrust for world evangelism. God has promised our staff that He will bring our pastor’s kidneys on a platter of praise. The God who began this universe as a mighty Creator is creating what our Pastor needs in his body” (Lakewood Church prayer request Jan 19, 1999). Two weeks later, John Osteen died. On the other hand, his wife Dodie Osteen has written a book on how she was she was miraculous healed from metastatic cancer of the liver after doctors had given up hope (it is reported  that this was accomplished through medicine).

In his book Joel Osteen writes of his mother’s battle with cancer: “She gets up every morning and reviews those same Scriptures on the subject of healing. She still speaks those words of faith, victory, and health over her life. She won’t leave the house until she does it. Beyond that, she loves to remind “Mr. Death” that he has no hold on her life. Every time my mother passes a graveyard, she literally shouts out loud, “With long life He satisfies me and shows me His salvation!” (Osteen: “Israelites Lacked Faith–Future Robbed”—Christianity Today Posted to Spiritual Deception for May, 2005 in “Thou Shalt Not Be Negative: Overly Positive Thinking and Prosperity Teaching Undermine Joel Osteen’s Bestseller” reviewed by Douglas LeBlanc, 04/14/2005).”

Like all positive confession teaching what they confess they hope to possess.  Otherwise it is ones confession that heals not God.  This is nothing more than witchcraft,  The subtle manipulation of scriptures.  They have turned the Bible into a book of spells.  Say the right words (spell)  and you can have whatsoever you desire.  The trouble is it does not work.  There are fields of gravestones which testify to that sad reality.    Not only that but it also becomes a form of superstition.  When a negative word is spoken many will run to speak a positive word in an effort to over come the results of the negative confession.  This is not liberty but bondage to ones flesh.  We are living in the last days and things like what has been revealed can only continue.

If these TV mega church corporations  saw  their pastors get genuinly saved tommorow there would be a mass exodus.  Gone would be the happy clappy message of comfort and ease.  In would come the preaching of the truth which would convict and stir their souls.   Two things would happen either the church would throw the pastor out  or he would watch his congregation leave.  The purse strings which is the real god behind this movement  would shrink tighter than a drum.    The simple reality is that MONEY is everything.  They associate wealth with spiritual blessing.  The richer they are the more they believe they are blessed.

Rev 3: 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

However God has an altogether different view of their lives.  It should be noted that Rev 3: 17 is a reference to a very positive statement.  But their true condition is nothing like what they confessed.

My name is John Edwards, and I was a Faith Preacher for ten years and one month. My wife and I attended and graduated from the premiere word of faith seminary in the world. During school I had the opportunity of working for some of the most famous names in the word of faith movement.

We both graduated from school and returned to the Birmingham area and started a charismatic word of faith church in our living room. We had four people at our first service and took up a $300 offering. Over the years, we moved our church to several locations before building our first building on 18 acres of land in Clay, Alabama. Our church had around 300 active members although less than a hundred would attend on any given Sunday. Over all we estimate that we had at least 2,000 members come and go over that ten year period if not more. Charismatic churches we found have extremely high turn over. It was my observation that we would often attract people that had been church members at just about every other charismatic church in town.

I never really liked pastoring because of the politics and constant drama that went on. I loved to teach, visit with people in the hospital, and do the actual work of the ministry, but I hated all the other stuff that goes with it. I stayed frustrated, depressed and I was always discouraged.

As a word of faith Christian, I did all the things that the word of faith teaches. I confessed the Word. I talked in line with the Word. I called things that be not as though they were. I had written out “My Vision” and confessed it out loud almost everyday, all fourteen pages of it. I prayed in tongues for hours. I read books and listened to hundreds, if not to thousands of Cd’s by the prominent word of faith teachers. I went to seminars, revivals, classes and to all sorts of healing meetings, increase meetings, Holy Ghost meetings, Holy laughter meetings and even to numerous early morning prayer meetings. It was a tradition at our church to meet at four in the morning to pray for two hours. For many years I prayed, believed and confessed miracles, signs and wonders for our ministry. But not much happened along those lines. In fact, I buried a lot of people over those years, including my daughter that died of a brain tumor at the age of fourteen. I was constantly perplexed that the message of faith and healing that I was preaching did not seem to work in the lives of the congregation. It seemed like we had all of the same experiences, trials and tribulations as the other church folks around town. I was for sure that there should be a clear distinction between the people of the Word and the denominational people. We had revelation knowledge of the Word. We had a leg up on the Body of Christ. We had the Holy Ghost, prayed in tongues and most of all we had the word of faith message that was full of God’s victory, prosperity and healing power. But there was really no difference between us and them. By them, I am referring to the Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Assembly of God churches that we as word of faith people thought were missing out. I mocked their teachings and beliefs for years. I learned it from my word of faith teachers and peers. I continued the tradition.

About a year and a half ago and good friend from Tulsa sent me a CD teaching on pride. I hated it. It really bothered me a lot and got me to thinking and praying which is sometimes a dangerous thing to do! I had ministry business to attend to in Indianapolis and in Michigan, so I must have listened to that Cd a dozen times. It convicted me of self. It convicted me of pride. It opened my eyes to some of my motives. More than anything, it revealed to me that I had an enormous ego that could never, ever be content.

I realized that over the years, that I had transformed from being on fire for God to being on fire for me. Everything was about me. My vision, my church, my success, my reputation, my dream, my church, my services, my anointing, my, my, my, me, me ,me. It had become all about me, but how did this happen?

Everything in my life revolved around the prosperity of my vision and things that I wanted. I took out my note book and took a look at my confessions. They were all about me and my vision. Things that I wanted. It shocked me at how my relationship with God had become all about prosperity and what I could “believe” God for. My life had become full of faith formulas, confessions, mechanics and legalism.

As I studied, prayed and meditated, I could find nothing that I was doing wrong. I was just becoming a product of what I had been teaching for years. I had become humanistic. My view of God had become inward instead of God-ward. I began to re-examine my doctrines and word of faith teachings and realized that I had deceived myself into thinking that I was in control of my life and circumstances. I had taught and believed that I could control everything with my faith and confession. So I began to revisit these teachings and do a more in depth study. I started listening to ministers that I would have mocked a year before.

Over that year I believe that I have identified FIVE MAIN AREAS of erroneous teaching that are the very foundations of the word of faith movement. I would like to share those five with you now if you are interested. If not, then dont read any further. It is not my intention to destroy anyone’s faith. I just know and realize that there is some serious error in the word of faith teachings that I must address, partly because I taught this message for many years to thousands of people.

31 FACTS ABOUT THE WORD OF FAITH by John Edwards.

The following are a few facts about the dangerous and deceptive Word of Faith Movement which is sweeping the Body of Christ with it’s lies and faulty theology:1) The Word of Faith heresy is a hybrid religion that is a blend of New Age ideas and Charismatic excesses.

2) It was founded by a Baptist Preacher that was heavily influenced by the mind science teachers of his day including Mary Baker Eddy. He brought in many New Age and Mind Science teachings and blended them with scripture twisted out of context.

3) The Word of Faith Theology was further developed by a man that claimed at least eight visitations from Jesus Christ. In each of these visits this preacher was given extra revelation and extra biblical insight.

4) This preacher boasted for years that he walked in Divine health although he was being treated for heart disease with medication.

5) This preacher’s message was a blend of the Word of God and his visions. He often taught the Word of God in light of his visions.

6) This is very similar to the Prophet Joseph Smith that claimed extra revelation through visits from Jesus and God as he founded the Mormon church.

7) Most of the highest regarded Word of Faith teachers have not been to a legitimate seminary. Most of them were self taught from listening to tapes from other Word of Faith teachers.

8) The Word of Faith Movement is anchored on one passage of scripture that is found in Mark 11:23-24. In this passage Jesus used a common, everyday Jewish hyperbole to teach his inner circle Apostles to believe in the power of God. The Word of Faith preachers have distorted the Greek text and the meaning of this passage to build an entire religion that revolves around faith and words as a means to obtain health and wealth.

9) Although the Word of Faith leaders do extensive teaching on faith and healing, it does not bear fruit in their own lives. Many of them died of tumors, cancer and heart disease.

10) Although the Word of Faith teachers love to minister from the 91st Psalm about God’s prophetic protection of the Messiah, they themselves live in constant fear and have numerous body guards and ushers.

11) The Word of Faith Message is centered on the prosperity scriptures that were meant for Israel under the Old Covenant. They emphasis tithing and sowing seeds as a means to obtain wealth. The Word of Faith Movement is obsessed with wealth and materialism and the worship of money.

12) The Word of Faith leaders teach that Jesus was wealthy although the scripture is very clear that he was not.

13) The Word of Faith leaders place thousands of well meaning believers under extreme pressure and condemnation by telling them outlandish and half true testimonies.

14) The Word of Faith leaders do an enormous amount of teaching on submission to authority, walking in love, and staying away from being offended. This produces a fearful cult like atmosphere in their churches. It keeps people from expressing hurts and concerns. It makes people feel like they cannot leave their church for any reason.

15) Many of the prominent Word of Faith teachers live the lifestyles of the rich and famous and flaunt it as a testimony of God’s favor while the people that are sending in their money are regarded as nothing.

16) The Word of Faith ministers are dishonest with scripture, often completely distorting it to rhyme with their doctrines.

18) Word of Faith ministers love to boast and brag about their faith and what their faith has done for them.

19) That is because it is called the Word of FAITH. It is a religion that revolves around faith instead of a religion that has faith in God. They teach faith in faith and faith in words.

20) The Word of Faith leaders teach that we are little gods and that we can act and perform much as God can. This also is a distortion of scripture and another thing that the Word of Faith has in common with the Mormons.
21) Word of Faith theology rejects the blood of Jesus as the sufficient atonement for our sins.

22) Word of Faith theology teaches that Jesus did not use His Divinity while on the earth while the Bible teaches that He was fully God and in total control at every moment.

23) The Word of Faith Movement teaches that words spoken from a human have inherent and creative power of their own.

24) Word of Faith teaches that Jesus said that you will have what you say, which is not what He said.

25) The Word of Faith theology depends on the King James translation of Mark 11:23-24

26) The same passage is found also in Matthew 21, and is worded quite differently, causing all the faith formulas based on Mark 11:23-24 to be out of whack.

27) The Word of Faith is humanism. It puts man in charge and God in the backseat.

28) The Word of Faith Movement misrepresents the character of Job.

29) The Word of Faith takes numerous passages from the New Testament and completely butchers them to fit their doctrine.

30) The Word of Faith creates fear, bondage, and a distorted unbiblical viewpoint of God.

31) The Word of Faith emphasises success and prosperity while Jesus stressed suffering and humility.

I will think of hundreds of other things after I post this, but these 31 facts are indeed facts. The Word of Faith is a cult because it is led by people claiming special insight and revelation that is unorthodox. They also attempt to control their subjects with fear, manipulation and bullying.
The Word of Faith is the Doctrine of Devils. It is an evil message that kills people and wrecks lives.

Please do not be afraid to look at the evidence. I was too afraid to examine the evidence because I wanted things my way. The Word of Faith put me in charge of my own life, and I liked that. But when I got up the courage to begin to read and study, God opened my eyes with truth and freedom. I am no longer in the cult!
