Ps 28: 7 The LORD [is] my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

I recently wondered why certain temptation would always seem to dog me when others were simply ignored.  I came to realise that they were there so I could overcome it.  The Battle is not to defeat us but train us to be stronger.  It is only as we train that we become skilled.  By being skilled come to an even greater realisation of the graciousness of our Lord.

Rom 8: 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

We can know this verse by heart and never fully understand the fullness of what it means.  In many ways we never stop learning and there is always a deeper depth in which God wants us to know.

Rom 7: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Even the great apostle cried out who will save me from this body of death and the new nature that battles with the realities of sin in our flesh.   We are never told what Paul battled with and many ways it does not matter.   What matter was that he came to the right answer in the end?  In such trials we are prone to try and buckle up.  Try harder and pull ourselves up with our own shoe laces.  Otherwise by our own strengths and usually we fail.   The secret is the victory is not ours but Christ.  In that we learn to trust him more.  He is the resource that we don’t have within ourselves.  In the Battle we come to realise God is our strength and our security.

Satan’s trick is to provoke us into trusting in our own resources.  To try and defend ourselves using our own wisdom and strength, knowing full well that this is most often a recipe for disaster.  He stands on the side lines and whispers with much laughter come on try harder.  until finally we fall and crash exhausted and broken.  But in that brokeness comes that quiet assurance my strength is in the lord.

Rom 7: 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin

Victory came when in his own strength he surrendered and began to trust in the one who alone had the strength to cry out it is finished.

Rom 8: 1 [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

We can read these verses a hundred times and still not come to the realisation of the victory.  It is not until in the midst of the storms and the crashing waves we finally  throw up our arms in defeat and cry out LORD SAVE US , then the true realisation comes.  Then comes the realisation that our resources may be sparse but his is infinite.     We are weak but he is always strong.

2 tim 1: 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day

I hope like Paul we become fully persuaded that we can trust ourselves fully to his cause.  To be able to fully shout with great joy that our victory was in trusting not in ourselves but to draw upon Gods infinite resource.    He is our shield that will quench every poisonous dark .  His word is the sword we use.  All we have need he has provided.  In the end our calling is to be overcomers.

The Battle is the Lords

Now from time to time you come across some  teaching which on the surface is so ridiculous and so prosperous as to stagger  the mind.  This particular one here has  to be the ultimate fantasy.  Something  which even Walt Disney would find hard to think up.

“Muslims  believe that Jesus was a true prophet of God.  And also accept his advent as having been  foretold in the previous scriptures”

Moslems say they believe in Jesus; however  the Jesus they believe in is another Jesus.  A Jesus who has been refashioned into the image of a failed prophet that  needed to be rescued before he was crucified.  They say they respect him, and yet this respect leaves out of the Koran everything  Jesus teaches.

Jesus made it clear if you love him then you would obey what he teaches.  This lack of obedience reveals that Moslems  not only had no love for Jesus, but no respect for the true Jesus of the Bible

Again and again Jesus said that he  was sent to the world only to give as much guidance as the people of his own
time could bear. As for complete teaching which would stay forever with  mankind, he said

Now notice that they present Jesus as just another  prophet, but Jesus was more than a prophet.  They present him as a failed Prophet, but Jesus mission was a  victory.   Islam  teaches that his teaching would stay  forever, and yet  Islam  reject his teachings.

But what about Muhammad?

In trying to convince their followers  that Muhammad is in the Bible they have had to do quite a bit of twisting of scripture.  However this  failure does nothing but shows that Islam is nothing more than a counterfeit.

But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom  Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all
things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14-26)

Immediately we have an assumption the  comforter which is mentioned in John 14 suddenly becomes Muhammad.  Even though Jesus clearly identifies who the  comforter was.    He was the HOLY SPIRIT.  Now when was Muhammad ever a SPIRIT?  Let’s keep going!!!

Only  the prophet of Islam could have fulfilled this prophecy of Jesus. Muhammad was  truly sent in his name because he bore testimony to his truth. The Holy Quran  says:

The Messiah, son of Mary, was a messenger,  “surely messengers like unto him had passed away before him” (The  Holy Quran 5:76)

The  Holy Quran reports that the angels told Mary: Surely Allah gives you good  news with a word from Him of whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary,  worthy of regard in this world and hereafter. (The Holy Quran 3:46)

Now just because Muhammad threw in  the story about Jesus being born to Mary, this is supposed to convince people  that he was a true prophet!  Not  according to the Bible.  True prophet  would have spoken and obeyed what Jesus taught.  True prophets get it right , but Muhammad did not.  Nor did Muhammad teach others in the name of  Jesus.  When Muhammad did appear he came in the name of an idol called Allah.  Again this makes him a FALSE PROPHET.    But  also the actual story of Jesus birth given by the Koran is wrong.  Jesus was born in Bethlehem not as the Koran describes  under some tree somewhere.  So if  Muhammad could not even get the facts right what makes anyone think this proved  he was a true prophet.

The  Holy Prophet testified to the truth of Jesus as a divine and honored Teacher and  Prophet, and declared them mistaken and misguided who thought him accursed. The  Holy Quran described his teachings as “guidance and light .”Further  elaborating the same prophecy, Jesus said:

Jesus was  more than a mere prophet or honoured teacher , He was God manifested in the  flesh who came and died for the sins of mankind.  Muhammad failed in this respect also.

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient  for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto
you; but if I depart, I will sent him unto you. And when he is come, he will  reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. … I have yet  many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. How be it when he,  the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not  speak of himself but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak.. and he  will show you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of  mine, and shall show it unto you. (John 16:7-14)

This  prophecy clearly lays down that:

  1. The Comforter will come after the  departure of Jesus.
  2. When the Comforter comes, he will  reprove the world of sin, truth and justice.
  3. He will guide the world into all  truth.
  4. The book revealed to him will contain  no human word.
  5. He will foretell things to come.
  6. He will glorify Jesus and clear him
    of all charges.

Some of these six statements Jesus  never actually mentioned in the gospel of John.  This Moslem writer has changed it, however for the sake of debate I will  take each point as he has written it and show that none of these points could possible point to Muhammad.

“Now  when we take this prophecy point by point, it is unmistakably proven that it  applies to none else but the Holy Prophet Muhammad. He came after Jesus.

Let us see which of us is right then?

The Comforter was supposed to reprove the followers of Jesus. Obviously, he could  not be a Christian or a Jew .The prophecy must relate to one who would belong  to another people but should respect Jesus and promote reverence for him. The  Holy Prophet was neither Jew nor a Christian. He was an Ishmaelite. But he  defended the honor of Jesus. Thus says the Quran:

[The Jews] slew him not, nor crucified him, but he  was made to appear to them like one crucified, and those who differ therein are  certainly in a state of doubt about it: they have no definite knowledge  thereof, but only follow a conjecture; and they did not convert this:  conjecture into a certainty; on the contrary, Allah exalted him to Himself (The  Holy Quran 4: 158)

Here  the Holy Quran specifically says that Jesus was saved from that accursed death  designed for him by his enemies. However, they only suspected that they had  succeeded in crucifying him. But Allah had not only saved him but admitted him  to the circle of His favoured ones.

As we can see Muhammad rejects the  fact that Jesus was crucified, this makes him a false prophet.  As far as the crucifixion is concerned we have  the proof of prophecy, we have the testimony of those who were there and saw  him crucified, we have the testimony of those who saw him after he rose from  the dead.  Most importantly we have the  proof of Jesus himself.

Now we have not even got to the point of  showing how it is impossible for him to be the comforter.  Notice they list the mission of the  Comforter.

  • He will come after the departure of Jesus.

Muhammad did not come until at least 600 years later.  But the Holy Spirit came 40 days later in Acts chapter 2.  So who fulfils this prophecy?

Acts 2: 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

So the HOLY SPIRIT fulfils this prophecy and Muhammad does not.  Notice it says “They were all filled”   Long before  Muhammad was even thought off,   the HOLY SPIRIT filled each and every person in that room.  Now Muhammad  a finite being could only be in one place at one time and yet this comforter filled each person there.

  • When the Comforter comes, he will reprove the world of sin, truth and justice.

Acts 2: 37 Now when they heard [this], they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men [and] brethren, what shall we do?

So the HOLY SPIRIT brought these men under conviction.  Notice Muhammad was no where to be found at this point.  Now how can a man who is not even born convict people centuries before hand?

The prophecy said that “he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that he shall speak”. This description can only apply to the Prophet Muhammad. The New and Old Testaments do not contain a single book in which man’s word has not been mixed with God’s. The Quran is nothing but the word of God from beginning to end. Not a word even of the Prophet is to be found in it.

Again another assumption that the Bible has been corrupted but the Koran has not. This is about as foolish as you can get. If God could not keep the Bible sound what makes anyone think he would be able to keep the Koran sound?  If the  Bible has been mixed with mans thoughts, why would you then use the Bible to prove that the comforter was  Mhammad.  That’s like shooting yourself in the foot.

  • He will guide the world into all truth.

When we examine the New Testament we will see that what was taught was based on scripture.  It shows who and what Jesus did.  It shows that Jesus fulfilled Biblical prophecy.  Bible Prophecy which Muhammad failed to recognise and actually rejected.  So he did not guide the world into truth.  This again makes him a false prophet.

  • The book revealed to him will contain no human word.

2 Tim 3: 16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Now as we have already seen Moslems believe that the Bible has been corrupted.  Clearly Muhammad did not point his followers to read and obey the scriptures.  The Bible is not mans work but Gods.  So Muhammad failed again.

  • He will foretell things to come.

Again we see from scripture from Genesis to the book of Revelation that the comforter the Holy Spirit did indeed  reveal all that was to come.

  • He will glorify Jesus and clear him of all charges.

It is clear Muhammad did not glorify Jesus.  If he did then his followers today would be following the true Jesus of the Bible. They would love what he teaches. So far from debating with Moslems all I can see is hatred for what Jesus  teaches.

How clearly has the prophecy been fulfilled in the person of the Prophet Muhammad in all of its details. Sometimes an unsuccessful attempt is made to dim the glory of this marvelous prophecy by claiming that this Comforter was the Holy Ghost who came after Jesus to his disciples. One wonders how this claim can be harmonized with the fact that the person foretold in the verses is described with the pronoun “he,” which could not possibly refer to a spirit. Then, was not the Spirit of Truth supposed to come only after the departure of  Jesus? Should it be then assumed that the Holy Ghost was not with Jesus ? Obviously no devoted Christian will accept this assumption. One can also inquire where that truth is which is not found in the New Testament but was later brought by the Holy Ghost.

It seems that because the Bible speaks about the HOLY SPIRIT as a “HE” it cannot possibly speak about a
spirit.  However the writer of this article simply does not know scripture.

John 4: 24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth

Notice it says “GOD IS A SPIRIT” and how does he describe him?   Is not “HIM” a gender?

Now the fact that the term HOLY SPIRIT is found both in the Old and New Testament and long before Muhammad was ever born must prove a major issue for Moslems. It certainly proves how gullible and how deceived they are?

Pslams 51: 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

Isa 63: 10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, [and] he fought against them.

Both of these verses where written hundreds of years before even Jesus was born. Never mind Muhammad.

The writer states “was not the Spirit of Truth supposed to come only after the departure of Jesus? Should it be then assumed that the  Holy Ghost was not with Jesus” .

Such statements reveal a tremendous lack of understanding of the work and mission of the Holy Spirit.  In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit would come upon believers from time to time, but never as an abiding life changing presence, and certainly only upon a few chosen vessels. The New Testament promise was that he will abide forever in ALL OF Gods chosen.  This was to be a major change from the Old Testament.

John 14:  16- 17 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;  [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

he may abide with you for ever” Did Muhammad abide with his followers for ever?  NO he died and was buried.  So he cannot fulfil this statement. It says that the WORLD cannot see the comforter. Did the world see Muhammad?   Absolutely,  again he could not fulfil that statement.  Can the world know the comforter, the answer is NO.  Did the world know Muhammad?  YES, so again he fails on that point. The comforter would live inside the believers.  Did Muhammad live inside those who followed him?  NO, so again Muhammad fails.

Some have suggested that this abiding might be talking about his teachings , But is not what it says,  “HE” WILL ABIDE WITHIN YOU FOR EVER ”  it does not say  what he taught would abide.  The idea of a COMFORTER was that someone WHO comforts. Muhammad did little of that as he tried to bring Arabia under his heel.  In the end Muhammad died apparently by being poisoned.  He never saw that coming.

One of the things that gets me the most about Word of faith (WOF) teachers is how they present a message that is more akin to vampires, who suck the spiritual life right out of believers.  They leach onto a person and draw whatever true spirituality right out of them.  There message attracts the most vulnerable amongst us; the sick, the weak, the undiscerning and the poor.  Instead of pointing people to the true provision which is Christ, they have people running around after these vampires of the gospel.  Instead of a Christ centred gospel they present a man centred gospel.  So we have the sick running from one so called anointed person to person.  Taking their eyes of Jesus and placing them on these vampires.  Buying their books and tapes, confessing their healings and their adopting practices, and the faith of God is sucked right out of them.  These harlots of the gospel prostitute themselves before men; they become rich at the expense of others.   They feed of peoples despair. So many cannot even see who and what they are getting into bed with.  Sometimes I want to run out into the street and cry out “open their eyes Lord Before it’s too late.”

Before we see more graves stones that read

“  Here lies so and so. They once believed, The confessed to being healed. God was not around. died and without hope”

Can you tell those who have been bitten by these vampires that the road they are on will lead to nothing more than ruin, sorrow, and spiritual death?  Not a chance!  They will argue with you as they take as spiritual knife to their throats and kill themselves.  It is absolutely heart wrenching because you can see the need.  You watch the life of God drain out of them.  You stand and watch hope ebb.  You see the confusion and the questions why am I not healed?   They are trusting in men and not God, but God gets the blame.  They stand there and they just can’t see the difference between the lie and the truth.   Even those who would adamantly reject believing in Hagin or Copeland or their Word of Faith teachings, there are others like Joyce Meyers whose books are selling like hot cakes. Preaching a motivational message whilst trying to hide and disguising the WOF message.  Encouraging people on how to feel good but the message is soured and bitter.

The provision is plenty

A man who holds a jug of clear cool water out to the thirsty, and the thirsty blinded to the provision keep running around from one dry watering hole to the next.  They cry out for water to satisfy their needs, pleading to have their thirst quenched.  The man stands there his provision is full and plenty but people refuse to see.  They want that provision fulfilled their way and in their time.  These Vampires present a message centred on themselves and not God.  They want God as their lap dog trained and broken to what they confess.  Whilst boast of their riches God calls it like it is, Poor blind and naked. How many times do we hear the phrase “by your stripes we are healed”, like some mantra they keep chanting it.  But faith lies not in the verse but in the
one who inspired those verses.  Yet somehow those who most need Gods provision have the lost the ability to see  daylight.  The Vampires have got their hooks into them and now they cannot see that they have to seek God.  He is the one they need to go to.  He is the source they need to draw on.  Sadly they reality of God has been sucked right out of them and now they go looking to those who claim to hear from God.  Who point people to themselves with a self help gospel that gives glory to man and not to God?  My heart aches when you see their plight.  Even as they go running from one vampire to the next hope drains away, Their faith in the living God ebbs, the truths is darkened from their souls.  WHY LORD and yet they choose not to go to the one who can give true peace in the crisis.

God has never promised that we will never age or become sick, that is still Adams inheritance to Adams race.  But he does promise a new incorruptible body that will never ebb or tire.  That’s Jesus inheritance to the new race of redeemed mankind.

The True gospel.

When we first come to know Jesus it is usually about ourselves, but the gospel is never about what I can get from God, but what he gets from us.  He saves us not so we can go out and please ourselves, but how we can please him.  But man has made the gospel all about what we can get.  How God goes out of his way to keep us happy clappy content and spoiled.  That is not the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.  You want to know what Christianity should really look like, look to the life of Jesus.
Look at his obedience to his father.

Look at how he delighted in doing the will of his father.  When Jesus was in the garden and he cried out “Not my will but yours”.  He delighted in doing the will of his father and right there his fathers will for Jesus was to take that bitter cup and drink
it.  The father receives glory when we choose to obey him.  It pleases the father when he sees his children obey.  Sometimes the cup can be bitter; we don’t always know the reasons why.  All we know that if it is the Father will then so be it.  In Hebrews 11,
We see the role call of those who obeyed.  They did not always see the fulfilment of the promise.  But they receive the rommendation that they would become heirs of the faith.  They obeyed the calling God gave them.  They did not always see deliverance from adversity but declared that is this is what gave Glory to God, so be it.  Sometimes there is healing and sometimes there is not.  I can’t say why one person is healed and another is not.  God does not tell us why.   For some Gods glory was to drink the cup of suffering and for others it was deliverance from Pharaohs rod.  For Job it was a cup of sickness for Timothy is was a stomach complaint.  Peter saw deliverance from prison, but for Paul it was the executioners block.  For John it was the isles of Patmos.  For poor Stephen it was a stoning at the hands of an angry mob, in all of this God gets the glory.  It is not in the suffering but in the obedience and it is in the patience.  It is the willingness to trust in the one who is able to deliver us from a greater sickness called death.  It is in the face of the why, and yet I still choose to obey.  It is when everything runs to the contrary, and yet I place myself in his hands.  When I don’t understand the suffering and the reasons for it, and yet I still choose to believe, then God gets the glory.
