The conflict over the burning of the Korans in Afghanistan

I was hoping to post an article on the ongoing crisis of Korans being so they say “improperly” burned at an American base in Afghanistan.  However events are moving quicker than my postings can keep up with.  Originally I commented on an article by the daily mail.  You can see the post here on a PDF file with all the gory pictures of hate and violence.

Here is just a snippet:

‘Die, die foreigners’:

Thousands of outraged Afghans protest outside American airbase after Koran burning insult by US troops.  U.S. commander of NATO troops in Afghanistan forced to apologise.

American troops in Afghanistan were at the centre of new controversy and bitter protests tonight after claims US soldiers had burned copies of the Koran among rubbish.

More than 2,000 furious Afghans – some chanting ‘die, die foreigners’, other throwing rocks – gathered outside the giant US air base at Bagram, 40 miles north of the capital Kabul, as reports of the burning spread.

The US commander of Nato troops in Afghanistan, General John Allen, was forced to apologise over the claims that foreign troops had ‘improperly disposed’ of copies of the Koran.

But there were immediate fears the Taliban and other insurgent groups would try to exploit the claims, using it as a rallying call against US, British and fellow Coalition forces.

The Bible says we are to “love our neighbours and bless those who curse us” but what we see in this instance is…..  ‘Die, die foreigners’

The Koran has this to say on the subject.

Jihad (holy fighting in Allah’s Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims), though you dislike it. But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and like a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knows, and you know not.” [Another translation reads:] “Warfare is ordained for you Qur’an:2:216

I shall terrorize the infidels. So wound their bodies and incapacitate them because they oppose Allah and His Apostle Qur’an:8:12

Allah’s Apostle said, ‘I have been made victorious with terror Bukhari:V4B52N220

Little do you remember My warning. How many towns have We destroyed as a raid by night? Our punishment took them suddenly while they slept for their afternoon rest. Our terror came to them; Our punishment overtook them Qur’an:7:3

The Prophet passed by and was asked whether it was permissible to attack infidels at night with the probability of exposing their women and children to danger. The Prophet replied, ‘Their women and children are from them Bukhari:V4B52N256

So, fight them till all opposition ends and the only religion is Islam Qur’an:8:39

Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war Qur’an:9:5

Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission.” Qur’an:9:29

The Moslems are simply following what their Koran teaches. The report goes on to say:

More than 2,000 Afghans protested outside the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan on Tuesday over a report that foreign troops had improperly disposed of copies of the Quran and other religious items, Afghan officials said.

However according to one online dictionary:

The term “Quran desecration” is defined as insulting the Quarn by defiling or defacing copies. Intentionally insulting the Quran is regarded as blasphemous.

Most traditional schools of Islamic law require  wudu (ritual handwashing; also spelled wazoo) before a Muslim may touch the Quran, which is regarded as the literal word of God in its original Arabic form. Muslims must always treat the printed book with reverence, and are forbidden, for instance, to pulp, recycle, or otherwise discard worn-out copies of the text; instead, burning or burying the worn-out copies in a respectful manner is required.  Respect for the written text of the Quran is an important element of religious faith in Islam. Desecrating a copy of the Quran is punishable by imprisonment in some countries (life imprisonment in Pakistan, according to Article 295-B of the Penal Code) and has been punishable by death in Afghanistan, Somalia and Pakistan.

So the reality of these burnings was that the material was already defiled by Moslem inmates at an American detention centre.  It was they who actually defiled the books in question.  Apparently they were using the Korans to pass secret messages to each other.

The Americans were simple burning according to instruction.  Now what many do not realise is that the Moslems have been destroying their books down sewers for some time as this video report shows.  Were there any riots by the locals in regard to these matters?   No demands for prosecution of the said offenders?  No reports from the government?   …… Was that Silence I hear?

Korans down the sewer.  A news report shows Moslems draining a pond once or twice a year and trying to wash and clean various stained copies.  As you can imagine they are covered with excrement and every other waste.

At least 30 people have been killed, including 4 U.S. soldiers after members of ANSF (Afghan National Security Forces) turned their weapons on them. Hundreds of people have been wounded…..!

Such is the craziness and totally insanity that numerous individuals, American and Moslem alike have been injured and killed. It seems when it’s fellow Moslems doing the disposing even if it’s down a sewer that’s ok.  But when it’s by someone else, and may I remind you according to per instruction they are quite happy to break their own taboos and riot.  It should also be noted that when Bibles are freely burned  by Moslems,  Probably in a greater number you don’t see Christians rioting and killing.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai is calling for American troops who correctly disposed of copies of the koran, to be placed on trial.

Reuters reports  “NATO officials, in response to a request for the trial and punishment of the perpetrators … promised this crime will brought to court as soon as possible.”

There has been no statement from any NATO or American officials in regards to placing any Allied troops on trial……!

Whatever the truth of these claims are, who will do the prosecuting?  Moslems rioters who will put in a guilty verdict before they enter the courtroom or American generals who can’t be serious in prosecuting soldiers who were simply obeying orders.  The officer in charge for carrying out his duty which even according to sources would have amounted to these books being burned.  How can they prosecute when those who defiled the books in the first place are not prosecuted?  I just can’t see American generals putting in a guilty verdict upon fellow American soldiers.  Not if they want to return home.  The American public would have their own trial and prosecution.

One of the arguments posted by Moslems on this subject of Islamic aggression is that they only fight with those who fight them.  When the fighting stops they will stop.  However if that mentality carried any weight, then once the burning of the Korans was stopped, the rioting and fighting should have stopped as well.   If anything it just carried on with more innocent people being caught in the rioting and killed.

I suspect the real reason is that any excuse is better than nothing.  The people of afghan just don’t want the Americans or NATO or any other foreign allies there and I suspect the Americans or anyone else does not want to be there either.   It has long been realised that you can’t fight war on two sides.  If you’re so called allies are more than likely to shoot you as the enemy, then they become the enemy.  It’s high time to move on to better things.    If the Afghan government wants to fight the Taliban alone or not then they should be left to it.   However the real fear is that if the NATO and American forces leave Afghanistan will fall to Islamic extremism. The good that was done by means of social reform will be lost.  Minority groups will be persecuted into extinction.  It would allow the Taliban access to bigger and better weapons, which in turn may lead to an even greater problem with terrorism.   In such a scenario is there such a thing as peace.  If they continue to follow the Koran as they have done I have grave doubts
