GOD IS ONE GOD

 Young’s Literal Translation  Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah;

Hear, O Israel – שמע ישראל יהוה אלהינו יהוה אחד shema Yisrael, Yehovah Eloheinu, Yehovah ached

For a further study on the oneness and plurality of God concerning the Hebrew word for one in the Jewish shema. PRESS  However there can be no doubt that the Bible only teaches a monotheistic belief in one true GOD.  There can never be a polytheistic plurality if multiple Gods ruling and reigning over the universe.

THE NAMES OF GOD

Can God allow his creation to claim attribute or names which are peculiar to himself?  God’s names are an expression of who and what God is.  They describe him in such a way that others can know something about him.  So it would seem remarkable strange to give such names to others.  That would be like the queen of England allowing anyone to go around claiming her title, or if the president of America allowed someone in his office to go around calling himself the president.  Those are names which are peculiar to the office and rank of those individuals.  God has many names but here are just a few.  I have also posted their equivalent verses from the NEW WORLD TRANSLATION.  Just for those who might be from that organisation?

MIGHTY GOD

Is 9: 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace

Jer 31: 18 Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, [is] his name,

18the One exercising loving-kindness toward thousands, and repaying the error of the fathers into the bosom of their sons after them, the [true] God, the great One, the mighty One, Jehovah of armies being his name (NWT)

ALMIGHTY GOD

Gen 17: 1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I [am] the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect

Rev 1: 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

FIRST AND THE LAST

Is 44: 6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I [am] the first, and I [am] the last; and beside me [there is] no God.

Rev 1: 17-18  And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last  I [am] he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death

How can Jesus assume a name and a title of the FIRST AND THE LAST when God makes it clear that he alone is God , there are no other Gods.  If as the Watchtower members claim that Jesus was Gods first creation, then how do they explain the fact that God himself does not or will ever acknowledge any others Gods.

ROCK

2 sam 22: 3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: [he is] my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence

2 Sam 22: 47 The LORD liveth; and blessed [be] my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation     (see also Psa 18:2 Psa 18:46 Psa 62:7)

Deut  32: 4 He is] the Rock, his work [is] perfect: for all his ways [are] judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right [is] he.

Math 7: 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.

1 Cor 10: 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ

God is essentially sovereign in his domain. Clear in his authority, Unique in everyway.    Righteous in all his laws. His principle of his government is absolute. He neither changes nor ages.  His wisdom is everlasting. He exists above and outside his creation, and yet chooses to interact with his creation. He is omnipresent, omniscient and all powerful.  Therefore he has no limits.  There is none like him and none to compare with him. He is eternally self existent. His principle nature is love and so his expression is one of loving. Whilst he has no boundaries, he will never act against his own nature.

WHO CREATED THE WORLD?

(GOD)   Gen 1: 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth

(Jesus ) Heb 1: 10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands

(Holy Spirit ) Gen 1: 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters

AT EVERY STAGE WE CAN SEE THIS SAME SCENARIO BEING PLAYED OUT, FATHER, THE SON JESUS AND THE HOLY SPIRIT.

WHO RAISED JESUS FROM THE GRAVE?

(HOLY SPIRIT) : Rom 8: 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

(JESUS) : John 10: 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father

(FATHER): Gal 1: 1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;) (GOD) : Acts 13: 30 But God raised him from the dead

WHERE DOES GOD SEEK TO DWELL  NOW?

John 14: 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him (FATHER AND JESUS )

John 14: 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever (HOLY SPIRIT)

Each member of the triune God dwells within the believer, each has a separate role to play and yet none contradict the other in that role.  There is a prefect harmony in what is done.

WHOSE TEMPLE ARE WE?

1 Cor 6: 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (HOLY SPIRIT)

1 Cor 3: 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (GOD)

2 Cor 6: 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people

John 14: 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him

Again we see this basic role of Father son and Holy Spirit doing a work of redemption within the believer.  Confirming and changing him into the temple of the living God.

WHO DO WE PRAY TO?

John 14:  13-14  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do [it

John 14: 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Shew us the Father?

John 15: 16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you

2 Cor 13: 7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

WHO HELPS US HOW TO PRAY

Rom 8: 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered

1 John 2: 1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous

Who has an advocate that cannot be approached?

WHO HELPS US IN OUR TRIALS

Rom 8: 34 Who [is] he that condemneth? [It is] Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us

IN WHOM ARE WE BAPTIZED INTO?

Mat 28: 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

HOW HELPS US TO BECOME GODS PEOPLE?

Heb 12: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth

Phil 2: 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure

Heb 12: 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God

1 Cor 12: 13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether [we be] Jews or Gentiles, whether [we be] bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit

Gal 5: 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith

WHOSE GLORY?

Mar 8: 38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels

Rev 5: 13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, [be] unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever

We see here that a singular glory is ascribed to both.  It does not say glories as in many.   Or one receives a higher glory than the other.  But in one breath both he that sitteth on the throne and the lamb as ascribed  the SAME >>>“GLORY” <<<<

John 17: 5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Is 42: 8 I [am] the LORD: that [is] my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

WHO RECIEVES WORSHIP?

Ex 34: 14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name [is] Jealous, [is] a jealous God:

Hebr 1: 6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

God does not share worship and yet he tells the angels to worship the Son.  He can only do this when we realise that Jesus is the second member of the Godhead.

WAS JESUS FULLY GOD.

Col 2: 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily

Rom 1: 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse

Heb 1: 8 But unto the Son [he saith], Thy throne, O God, [is] for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness [is] the sceptre of thy kingdom

Titus 2: 1 3 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ

2 Peter 1: 1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ

There is not two or three Godheads, but one God.  The polytheistic believes of some do so only because they cannot accept the reality of a triune Godhead.  They are finite in understanding so they expect God to be the same.   They limit God and sadly are unable to grasp that God himself clothed in flesh and blood stepped out of eternity to save the lost.  But should we be so hard on such lost souls.  For God only reveals these things to those who are his.  Jesus spoke to the people in Parables.  For those with discernment grasped and understood what he said. To others what he said were quaint stories.  Jesus did not force people to see, but those who desired had their eyes opened.

I have talked with one such poor soul that has two Gods creating ruling and sustaining the universe.  He is unable to make the final jump to the realisation that God is one GOD , and a triune being.  Sadly he has developed a synthesis of two saviours, two redeemers, a greater and a lesser God. To one are ascribed worship and the other obeisance.  The fact that in the Greek both words are the same Greek word.  The mental quirks which he has to dance around only exist, because he is holds to the beliefs of the Watchtower society.

Is 60: 16 Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD [am] thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob

Ps 50: 1 [[A Psalm of Asaph.]] The mighty God, [even] the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof

Is 9: 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace

The Bible makes it clear who this mighty God is?  God is mighty because he can save the lost.  No angel can.  Angels can minister and intervene on behalf of someone, but he cannot save a lost soul from his sin.  That is the prerogative of the creator.

HOW MANY SAVIOURS ARE THERE?

John 4: 42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard [him] ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

Is 60: 16 Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD [am] thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob

Jude 1: 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, [be] glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

DOES THE BIBLE SPEAK OF ONE, TWO OR MORE SAVIOURS OR ONLY ONE?
