A number of articles have surfaced recently by the Daily Mail Newspaper.

Islamic extremists have launched a poster campaign across the UK proclaiming areas where Sharia
law enforcement zones have been set up.

Such zones are illegal and actually undermine the democratic right of its citizens to walk about freely, without victimisation and without fear.  While as a Christian I might have moral issues with some of what passes by.  As a Law abiding citizen I also choose to except that people have a legal right to go about their business without fear of harm or victimisation.  But I also accept that as a Christian that I too have the right to go about the Lords business as well

The article goes on to say:

“Communities have been bombarded with the posters, which read: ‘You are entering a Sharia-controlled zone – Islamic rules enforced.’

The bright yellow messages daubed on bus stops and street lamps have already been seen across certain boroughs in London and order that in the ‘zone’ there should be ‘no gambling’, ‘no music or concerts’, ‘no porn or prostitution’, ‘no drugs or
smoking’ and ‘no alcohol’.

Hate preacher Anjem Choudary has claimed responsibility for the scheme, saying he plans to flood specific Muslim and
non-Muslim communities around the UK and ‘put the seeds down for an Islamic Emirate in the long term’.

In the past week, dozens of streets in the London boroughs of Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets and Newham have been targeted, raising fears that local residents may be intimidated or threatened for flouting ‘Islamic rules’.

Choudary, who runs the banned militant group Islam4UK, warned: ‘We now have hundreds if not thousands of people up and down the country willing to go out and patrol the streets for us and a print run of between 10,000 and 50,000 stickers ready for distribution.”

It must question then that if this group is banned why is Anjem Choudary still walking free and not
in some prison?

“There are 25 areas around the country which the Government has earmarked as areas where violent extremism is a problem.

We are going to go to all these same areas and implement our own Sharia-controlled zones.

‘This is the best way for dealing with drunkenness and loutishness, prostitution and the sort of thug life attitude you get in British cities.’

The former lawyer added: ‘This will mean this is an area where the Muslim community will not tolerate drugs, alcohol, pornography, gambling, usury, free mixing between the sexes – the fruits if you like of Western civilisation.

‘We want to run the area as a Sharia-controlled zone and really to put the seeds down for an Islamic Emirate in the long term.’

It seems clear what their long term plans are, and I have no doubt that this will mean the persecution and victimisation of anyone who is not Islamic.  Scotland Yard is now working with local councils to remove the posters and identify those responsible for putting them up.

Choudary said he was organising a protest against the Far Right in Waltham Forest this weekend following last Friday’s killing spree in Norway by anti-Islamic gunman Anders Breivik.

He said: ‘We are going to put the events in Oslo on the agenda. We are going to be marching and addressing this issue. It is a whole new scenario now. The Muslim community needs to be vigilant. There is an undercurrent against Islam.

‘I do believe a Norway-style attack could happen here.’

Moslems are using  the recent attack in Norway to advance their cause.  I almost wonder why Anders Behring Breivik  who it claimed had so much hatred for Moslems would attack everyone but a Moslem target.  The fact that Moslems were not even targeted  seems to undercut their arguement.    However I  suspect that Anders Behring Breivik will be used by Moslems to incite the Moslem community at large to fall in line with this militant aganda.  It is almost as if Anders Behring Breivik was fitted for the role just so that Islam militants could advance their agenda.

The campaign comes just months after stickers proclaiming a ‘gay-free zone’ and appearing to reference the religious Islamic text of the Koran appeared in Tower Hamlets.

Women in parts of East London including Tower Hamlets have been threatened with violence and even death by Islamic extremists if they did not wear headscarves.

James Brandon, of the anti-extremism think-tank the Quilliam Foundation, which has dubbed the intimidation the work of ‘Talibanesque thugs’, said: ‘This is a small group which is not representative of these communities.

‘It’s great news that the police have decided to investigate this. This has the potential to divide communities and upset people.’

Yesterday the leader of Waltham Forest Council, Chris Robbins, said: ‘As soon as we heard about these posters we worked over the weekend to take them all down.

‘Since then we have been going through our CCTV images and working with the police to try to identify the culprits. Our policy is to use the full extent of our powers to prosecute any offenders.

‘People should not get the wrong idea about our borough because a handful of small-minded idiots, who do not live here, decide to deface our streets with ridiculous posters.’

Whilst the politicians have tried to identify the offenders, those same offenders were quite happy to have their photos taken holding one of these flyers up.  I must therefore question if the government is serious enough to actually deal with some of these extremist.  A more recent report only adds to the seriousness of this issue.

“Ministers have abandoned an inquiry into the rise of secretive Sharia councils that deal in Islamic justice – because the Muslim courts refused to help.

The failure of the Ministry of Justice probe has generated new fears among politicians and pressure groups about the increasing influence of Sharia courts.

They are worried the courts’ decisions may run against the law of the land, particularly in divorce settlements for women.

The scrapping of the inquiry comes in a week when Islamic extremists have launched a campaign to declare ‘Sharia-controlled zones’ across Britain.

Hate preacher Anjem Choudary has claimed responsibility for the scheme, which has so far seen posters put on lampposts in several London boroughs declaring that within the ‘zones’ there should be ‘no gambling’, ‘no music or concerts’, ‘no porn or
prostitution’, ‘no drugs or smoking’ and ‘no alcohol’.

But the abandonment of the Government’s Sharia inquiry has fuelled fears that such radicals will be able to continue their intimidating activities unchecked.

The Ministry of Justice had launched an inquiry into the operation of Sharia courts in Britain because of rising fears that the secretive system has undue influence.

The number of Sharia courts here is unknown, although an estimate of 85 made by the Civitas think-tank in 2009 is widely accepted.

The failure of the Government’s investigation was disclosed to MPs by Justice Minister Jonathan Djanogly.

He told Tory backbencher Kris Hopkins that before last year’s general election his department acted to ‘commission an exploratory study of Sharia councils in England with respect to family law’.

Mr Djanogly said: ‘This identified a number of challenges to undertaking robust research in this area. The study was therefore limited and adds little to the evidence base. ‘The findings cannot be regarded as a representative assessment of the
operation of Sharia councils. Following expert peer review of the draft report, the Ministry of Justice decided not to publish the findings.’

A further statement to the Mail made it clear the ‘challenges’ researchers experienced boiled down to the Sharia courts failing to co-operate.The Ministry of Justice said: ‘The report was essentially an exploratory study which identified a number of
challenges to undertaking more robust research.

‘The challenges to undertaking more robust research were that the councils are generally run on a volunteer basis, were short staffed and very busy, so there were practical difficulties in speaking with respondents.

‘There was also reluctance to discuss the private work of the councils and respondents were wary of the stereotypical ways in which their organisations were represented in the media.”

If the government is failing to get to the bottom of such practices then the general public should indeed have concernsFor it seems that not only are Moslems communities closing ranks, but the actual scale of these sharia courts are unknown.  Further more what started of as a simple means of deciding financial issues
has gone way beyond these boundaries to actually dispensing judgement on family matters.

Recently independent peer Baroness Cox has tabled a Bill seeking to make it a crime for anyone to take over the rights of the state’s criminal or family courts. The bill, proposed by Lady Cox and backed by women’s rights groups and the National Secular Society, was drawn up because of “deep concerns” that Muslim women are suffering
discrimination within closed sharia law councils.  The Arbitration and Mediation Services (Equality) Bill will introduce an offence carrying a five-year jail sentence for anyone falsely claiming or implying that sharia courts or councils have legal jurisdiction over family or criminal law. The bill, which will apply to all arbitration tribunals if passed, aims to tackle discrimination, which its supporters say is inherent in the courts, by banning the sharia practice of
giving woman’s testimony only half the weight of men’s.

That comes from Qur’an 2:282, confirmed by a heartwarming hadith in Sahih Bukhari 1.6.301.

Koran 2: 282 “……….And bring to witness two witnesses from among your men. And if there are not two men [available], then a man and two women from those whom you accept as witnesses – so that if one of the women errs, then the other can remind her. And let not the witnesses refuse when they are called upon……”.

Sahih Bukhari 1.6.301   “Once Allah’s Apostle went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) o ‘Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, “O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women).” They asked, “Why is it so, O Allah’s Apostle ?” He replied, “You curse frequently and are ungrateful
to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.” The women asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?” He said, “Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?” They replied in the affirmative. He said, “This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn’t it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?” The women replied in the affirmative. He said, “This is the deficiency in her religion.” –

Cox said they are increasingly ruling on family and criminal cases, including child custody and domestic violence. Jurisdiction “creep” had caused considerable suffering among women compelled to return to abusive husbands, or to give up children and property.

Diana Nammi, of the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation, said: “Women and children are very vulnerable members of the community and under sharia law they become invisible. Women and children are the most vulnerable in minority communities where religion tradition and culture has become the identity taking precedence over the human rights and women’s rights that are protected under civil, UK law.”

The bill requires public bodies to inform women they have fewer legal rights if their marriage is unrecognised in English law. Cox said she had found “considerable evidence” of women, some of whom are brought to Britain speaking little English and kept ignorant of their legal rights, suffering domestic violence or unequal access to divorce, due to discriminatory decisions made. “We cannot continue to condone this situation. Many women say: ‘We came to this country to escape these practices only to find the situation is worse here.’ ”

Claims of “voluntary” participation or even preference by Muslim women must also be taken with a grain of salt given how
tightly many are controlled by their families.

Cox said she would be asking the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, who caused a row last year when he said a recognised role for sharia law seemed unavoidable, to back her bill. She said: “By appearing to condone this inherent discrimination system which is causing real suffering to women, he has failed to recognise that suffering. He is appearing
to forward the acceptability and validity of Sharia law in this country.”…

The good archbishop too many is really a bit of a dimwit in religious garb.  He was once given a honoury induction as a druid, which apparently he accepted without any complaint.   From time to time he pops up in the news spouting some ridiculous statement. Personally I hope that Baroness Cox has a few more respected members behind her bill than Rowan Williams.

To understand the full implication as to where sharia would take this country if we do not cut it of at the root. For example A Saudi woman must have the permission of her official “mahram” or male guardian for matters such as travel, work and marriage

Sharia in action

Samar Badawi,a 32-year-old Woman has just been released from Jail after serving six months. his only after a hue and cry in the media and internet campaign on her behalf by human rights activists inside and outside Saudi Arabia, said lawyer Waleed
Abu Alkhair.

Her crime, she had petitioned the court to remove her father as her official guardian because he had mistreated her since childhood and had denied her permission to remarry. She had asked for her guardianship to be transferred to her uncle. Instead of which the local judges acting on the wishes of her father had set her to jail. No charges were laid or trial carried out.

This is just the sort of barbarism that we can expect in this country if we let Sharia get a foothold.

Can one imagine that if sharia is allowed to take hold in this country we might well see a similar situation happen?  It must also be noticed that democracy which is the basic right of all free nations does not exist where Islam rules supreme.  This would not just impact on the Moslem community but the country as a whole.  Islamic extremist have no interest in democracy, fair play or equality between  people.
