Michael Houke has done an amazing job at collecting many of the names and teachings of the the WORD OF FAITH (WOF) .   Many of these teachers might have pedated others,  But their influence has played  a major part in what we now know as the prosperity gospel. UC Ministries.

The Word-Faith Movement gets its teachings from E.W. Kenyon (1867-1948) and recently from Kenneth Hagin and Kenneth Copeland. Kenyon got many of his teachings from Metaphysical cults such as New Age Thought, Christian Science, and Gnosticism. There are basically five doctrines of this movement, they are as follows:

1. Revelation Knowledge
2. Tongues
3. Faith
4. Healing
5. Prosperity

Another name for this movement/cult is the popular “ Prosperity Gospel”. Summed up briefly this movement believes that based on the amount of one’s faith they can say it or will it and they can have all the riches they desire. One proponent of this movement, Frederick K.C. Price once said; I drive a Rolls Royce because I have a Rolls Royce kind of faith, if you drive a Volkswagen it’s because you have a Volkswagen kind of faith. This non-sense is taught nowhere in scripture and is completely heretic.

Some of the more well known Preachers of this Movement/Cult are as follows:

John Avanzini
Todd Bentley
Rodney Howard Browne
Morris Cerullo
Kenneth and Gloria Copeland
Paul And Jan Crouch
Creflo A. Dollar
Jesse Duplantis
Kenneth Hagin
Benny Hinn
Steve Hill
Prophet Bernard Jordan
Cindy Jacobs
T. D. Jakes
T. B. Joshua
Patricia King
Kathreen Kulhman
Essek Kenyon
Bishop Eddie Long
Miles Monroe
Joyce Myers
Aimie Simple McPherson
Joel Osteen
Rod Parsley
Peter Popoff
Fredrick K.C. Price
Paula Price
Oral and Rich Roberts
Robert Tilton
Paula White
And many others.

These preachers are nothing more than Wolves in Sheep clothing. Most of them are from the Pentecostal movement and Oneness Pentecostal churches. Other than teaching that the bible wants us to be rich, many of them teach that we are “little gods”. They understand/justify that because we are created in God’s Image, therefore we are little gods with a small “g”. This teaching is highly heretic. Nowhere in scripture does it state that man can become a God or even remotely alludes to the fact that man can become a God, even with a little “g”. They claim that they receive revelation knowledge from God about their teachings. Where can we find this in the Bible? When the Canon of scripture was closed it was finished, we are never told that in the latter years we will receive new and updated information that will be on par or equal with the Bible.

Here is some of the outlandish things that they teach:

1. Faith is a force (Star Wars)
2. Man can become a God
3. Jesus was a rich man
4. Jesus wore designer clothes
5. Jesus stayed at the best places while on tour
6. Because Jesus had a treasurer, he had to be rich
7. Jesus went to hell and battled Satan
8. Jesus was tortured in hell
9. Jesus was born again in hell
10. Jesus rose from the grave in order for believers to become little Gods
11. Believers can control illness and sickness based on their faith
12. Believers have the power to touch and heal others, like Jesus
13. Believers have the power to raise people from the dead
14. Believers receive new revelation knowledge
15. Believers are no longer sinners
16. Believers can talk money into their wallets and purses
17. Holy Laughter is a gift from God
18. They elevate man to God status and reduce God to man’s status
.

Let’s see what these preachers have to say in their own words:

Paul Crouch : “We gotten so caught up in theology and debating and discussing theology and nit picking on this, and the heretic hunters have smokescreen the whole thing.” (The Christian Channel Europe “Praise The Lord” 14/6/98)

Benny Hinn : “Now I am going to read one scripture and then I am going to preach and the Devil is going to drop dead.” (The Christian Channel Europe “Praise The Lord” (TBN) 22/2/98)
Kenneth Copeland : “Faith is a power force. It is a tangible force. It is a conductive force.” (The Force of Faith [Fort Worth, TX: KCP Publications, 1989], 10.)

Kenneth Copeland : “You don’t think earth was first, do you? Huh? Well, you don’t think that God made man in His image, and then made earth in some other image? There is not anything under this whole sun that’s new. Are you hearing what I’m saying? This is all a copy. It’s a copy of home. It’s a copy of the Mother Planet. Where God lives, He made a little one just like His and put us on it.” (“Following the Faith of Abraham I” [Fort Worth, TX: Kenneth Copeland Ministries, 1989], audiotape #01-3001, side 1.)

Paul Crouch, speaking to Kenneth Copeland, said : “Somebody said–I don’t know who said it–but they claim that you Faith teachers declare that we are gods. You’re a god. I’m a god. Small ‘g’ now, but we are the gods of this world. . . . Well, are you a god–small ‘g’?” To this, Jan Crouch, referring to Copeland, enthusiastically exclaimed: “He’s gonna say, ‘Yes.’ I love it.” (“Praise the Lord” program on TBN [5 February 1986].)

Paul Crouch : “He [God] doesn’t even draw a distinction between Himself and us. . . . You know what else that’s settled, then, tonight? This hue and cry and controversy that has been spawned by the Devil to try and bring dissension within the body of Christ that we are gods. I am a little god! . . . I have His name. I’m one with Him. I’m in covenant relation. 1 am a little god! Critics, be gone!” (“Praise the Lord” program on TBN [7 July 1986].)

Frederick K.C. Price : “God can’t do anything in this earth realm except what we, the body of Christ, allow Him to do. Now that statement is so–that’s so–that’s so foreign and so contrary to tradition that, like I said, if they could get their hands on me right now most evangelicals would burn me at the stake and dismember me and feed me to the crocodiles, because they’ll consider that statement to be just heresy.” (“Ever Increasing Faith” program on TBN [1 May 1992], audiotape #PR11.) Cf. chapter 6, 85.

Kenneth Copeland : “Adam was made in the image of God. He was as much female as he was male. He was exactly like God. Then God separated him and removed the female part. Woman means ‘man with the womb.’ Eve had as much authority as Adam did as long as they stayed together.” (Sensitivity of Heart [Fort Worth, TX: KCP Publications, 1984], 23.)

Kenneth Copeland : “I was shocked when I found out who the biggest failure in the Bible actually is….The biggest one is God….I mean, He lost His top-ranking, most anointed angel; the first man He ever created; the first woman He ever created; the whole earth and all the Fullness therein; a third of the angels, at least–that’s a big loss, man. . . . Now, the reason you don’t think of God as a failure is He never said He’s a failure. And you’re not a failure till you say you’re one.” (“Praise-a-Thon” program on TBN [April 1988].)

John Avanzini : “Jesus had a nice house, a big house–big enough to have company stay the night with Him at the house. Let me show you His house. Go over to John the first chapter and I’II show you His house. . . . Now, child of God, that’s a house big enough to have company stay the night in. There’s His house.” (“Believer’s Voice of Victory” program on TBN [20 January 1991].)

John Avanzini : “Jesus was handling big money because that treasurer He had was a thief. Now you can’t tell me that a ministry with a treasurer that’s a thief can operate on a few pennies. It took big money to operate that ministry because Judas was stealing out of that bag.” (“Praise the Lord” program on TBN [15 September 1988].)

John Avanzini : “John 19 tells us that Jesus wore designer clothes. Well, what else you gonna call it? Designer clothes–that’s blasphemy. No, that’s what we call them today. I mean, you didn’t get the stuff He wore off the rack. It wasn’t a one-size-fits-all deal. No, this was custom stuff. It was the kind of a garment that kings and rich merchants wore. Kings and rich merchants wore that garment.” “Believer’s Voice of Victory” program on TBN [20 January 1991].)

.Frederick K C. Price : “The Bible says that He [Jesus] had a treasurer–a treasury (they called it “the bag”); that they had one man who was the treasurer, named Judas Iscariot; and the rascal was stealing out of the bag for three-and-a-half years and nobody knew that he was stealing. You know why? Because there was so much in it, He couldn’t tell. Nobody could tell that anything was missing. If He had three oranges in the bottom of the bag and he stole two of them, don’t tell me He wouldn’t know that some was missing. Beside that, if Jesus didn’t have anything, what do you need a treasury for? A treasury is for surplus. It’s not for that which you’re spending. It’s only for surplus–to hold it until you need to spend it. Therefore, He must have had a whole lot that needed to be held in advance that He wasn’t spending. So He must have had more than He was living on.” (“Ever Increasing Faith” program on TBN [23 November 1990].)

John Avanzini : ‘You don’t think these Apostles didn’t walk around with money? I mean, they had money. I just thank God that I saw this and gave up the denominational line and got on God’s line before I starved me and all my family to death. Go to Acts 24. 1 mean. you don’t think there wasn’t money in this Paul’s life!. . . Paul had the kind of money that people, that government officials, would, would block up justice to try to get a bribe out of old Paul.” (“Believer’s Voice of Victory” program on TBN [20 January 1991].)

Kenneth Copeland : “That Word of the living God went down into that pit of destruction and charged the spirit of Jesus with resurrection power! Suddenly His twisted, death-wracked spirit began to fill out and come back to life. He began to look like something the devil had never seen before.” (“The Price of it All,” Believer’s Voice of Victory 19, 9 [September 1991]:4.)

Kenneth Copeland : “He [Jesus] was literally being reborn before the devil’s very eyes. He began to flex is spiritual muscles. . . .Jesus was born again–the firstborn from the dead the Word calls Him–and He whipped the devil in his own backyard. He took everything he had away from him. He took his keys and his authority away from him.” (Ibid., 4-6.)

Benny Hinn : “When you say, ‘I am a Christian, you are saying, ‘I am mashiach’ in the Hebrew. I am a little messiah walking on earth, in other words That is a shocking revelation…. May I say it like this? You are a little god on earth running around.” (“Praise-a-Thon” program on TBN [6 November 1990].)

I think enough has been said, sadly millions of people give their hard earned money to these wolves in sheep clothing, believing that all they teach will get them to heaven, but it is another gospel and another gospel cannot save anyone! Galatians 1:6-9 says it all, There is only one Gospel, and the prosperity gospel is not the one

  1. The influence of the WOF extended way beyond Pentecostalism, and many were influeced who would not have even regarded themselves as being in that circle, Derek Price is a prime example. His book on generational curses was full of WOF terminology. In fact he expounded a number of books whose titles were basic WOF cliches.

  2. Helen says:

Why mention TB Joshua? Since none of his teaching is of these.

  3. http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/tbjoshua.html

This web page also contains a picture of his church with a banner with an image of Jesus and a quotation from the Koran under it. It says ” There is no god but Allah” Allah is a false deity and any true minister would know that.

  4. Where in the Bible does any true man of God spend time talking to some demon , who is going to lie anyway. This was for the audience. He spent too many times knocking him down. Jesus spoke one word and the demons left. Either TB Joshua was havinga hard time or this whole thing was fake.

Look at what takes place again and again and again. Knocks him down and get him up. It was made to sound too much like what Paul expereinced, but even Paul when he said GO the thing went. NO arguements and no debate. This so called demon possessed person just gets up and gives his speel far too much. By the way I believe the unsaved can be possessed by evil spirits. But this does not impress me one bit,.

I will quote from some of this article :

There are three entrances to the synagogue when one enters “through the first gate, there are sets of tap nozzles fixed to the walls. These taps are connected from the public water distribution networks. The Man In The Synagogue sanctifies the water and it becomes “Blood of Jesus Christ.”

This so called transubstantiation miracle is strange in that it verifies Roman Catholicism without him being a priest

    IS THIS TRUE?

On a videotape distributed by the Synagogue of all Nations–Prophet Joshua blessed a huge tank of water, “touching each of twelve running spigots, proclaiming them to now be “the blood of Jesus.” The congregation was then shown rushing forward, pushing and pulling among themselves seeking to get to those spigots first, that they might drink, splash, and in some cases even shower in “the blood of Jesus”. This is perhaps the most disturbing aspect of it all, as it turns the Biblical doctrine of the blood of Jesus (His vicarious death) into a sensuous, superstitious experience. No Priest or Prophet can turn any substance into the blood of Jesus. That is more akin to paganism and magic than Christianity. The blood of Jesus was shed as a sacrifice to God the Father, not as a potion to be slashed and bathed in!”( Bill Randles excerpts from a letter to a South African newspaper on 02.05.01)

    IS THIS BIBLICAL?

But not everyone has the blessing as rugby player Wium Basson came to Joshua with advanced liver cancer. He waited in hope for the prophet to pray for him but it never occurred, Joshua passed him by. Joshua also trains others to heal and had junior prophets also prayed laying hands on him (the mom later commented no Bibles were seen). Later on in the video Joshua says he phoned the mom who bought her son Wium to be healed and says he prayed on the mountain for 10 hours and Wium sends his regards and says he’s very happy, God is happy his son has come home. Now we have TB involved in necromancy, contacting the dead for a message to his mom. Be assured there is nothing Christian about this.

    IS THIS BIBLICAL?

Read the entire article and you will see that there are some major issue regarding this man. There appears to be an unholy mixture going on. Many of the Toronto exponents have visited him. If he was a true prophet he waould have rebuked them, However I suspect he is very much in agreement with such practices.

  6. Errol Smythe says:

PASTOR PHARAOH , LET GOD’S PEOPLE GO !
    “…Let God be true and every man a liar….”.( Romans 3 verse 4 ).
Pastor Pharaoh, let God’s people go !
They are not your personal property !
All sinners have been redeemed by the Precious Blood of the Lamb, the Blood of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
He arose triumphant, over death, hell and the grave and is ALIVE FOREVERMORE.
Pastor Pharaoh, render unto Caesar what is Caesar and to God what belongs to God.
Mankind were created in the IMAGE OF GOD.
Pastor pharaoh why you want to place your personal denominational kingdom stamp on them ?
    Remember Belshazzar Pastor Pharaoh ?
Belshazzar was weighed in the balance and found wanting .
Belshazzar had taken the temple gold and silver vessels that Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem and Belshazzar tried to make them his personal property. Pastor Pharaoh, Belshazzar had no respect for the vessels dedicated unto the LORD.
Tell me Pastor Pharaoh, the Saints of the LORD in your congregation are they not CHOSEN VESSELS sanctified and justified and filled with the HOLY GHOST, called chosen and faithful and loving and serving THE LORD ?
Why then Pastor Pharaoh do you want to FLEECE THE FLOCK OF GOD and line your pockets with the labour and fruit of the BELIEVERS ?
Repent Pastor Pharaoh AND LET GOD’S PEOPLE GO !
Christianity is not A GOLDEN CALF RELIGION !
CHRISTIANITY IS NOT A GET RICH SCHEME !
“….For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul….”. ( Matthew 16 verse 26 ).
Pastor Pharaoh , remember JUDAS ISCARIOT tried to get rich by stealing from the money bag and then crossed the line separating GRACE FROM JUDGEMENT and then JUDAS ISCARIOT sold the LORD for thirty pieces of silver, then realised he had betrayed INNOCENT BLOOD but it was too late and JUDAS ISCARIOT found no place of repentance ?
Pastor Pharaoh, examine yourself for your CHURCH DOCTRINE is NOT OF GOD, your BOOK OF LIES is CONTRARY TO THE WORD OF GOD, and your MONEY MAKING SCHEMES are an abomination to the LORD, REPENT OR PERISH!

  7. Rodger Haas says:

Hey Michael, you know that exposing false teachers and false doctrines is a great ministry to have, and I really enjoyed some of your posts. Some of the one’s you posted were false accusations, and I called you out on it and you didn’t have the humility to respond. And I know you hate when people say judge not lest ye be judged, but I’m saying that as a way of trying to get you to back down. I say judge not lest ye be judged because you haven’t pulled the plank out of your own eye before you went on your mission to expose false teachers. Your personal profile page on Facebook is atrocious, your taste in music is flat out satanic, Metallica, Judas Priest, Van Halen, AC/DC, White Snake, Nazareth, and the list goes on. Your usage of the F’bomb responding to one of your buddies is a colorful use of the tongue, yet you exploit those who falsely use tongues. Your budweiser sign and your finding humor in someone’s hangover is interesting. Your Facebook page is your testimony to the world that doesn’t know you face to face. I’m not impressed! You are so critical and I sense some pride there too, you don’t like being challenged, so you just delete me, that’s your choice, but I’m still here in this world and I have a copy of your profile from Facebook just in case you lose it.
