Talks on Islam: Pulling Rabbits

There are always tricks to the trade or so they say.  Well there are certainly tricks to Islam, or at least discussing it.  Islam has to stand or fall by its Literature and in this case the Koran.

This has to be number one on their list of tricks.

The Koran does not say mean what you read. Otherwise even when you try to point out the verse in question you will be taken to another website where someone reinterprets it.

For example there has been much debating on this verse of the Koran.

Muhsin Khan: Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allah and to their husbands), and guard in the husband’s absence what Allah orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity, their husband’s property, etc.). As to those women on whose part you see illconduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) BEAT THEM (lightly, if it is useful), but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allah is Ever Most High, Most Great.

Yusuf Ali: Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband’s) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) BEAT THEM (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).

Pickthal: Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and SCOURGE THEM. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great.

Sahih International: Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband’s] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance – [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], STRIKE THEM. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Gran

The best way to debate this:

Every day Arab speaking people go to the UN and they debate politics.  There translators translate what Arabs say on a daily basis into every other language in the world.  But it seems when they come to translate their holiest book the Koran into one of the most popular languages in the world it all goes to pot.  They either can’t do it or have not got the ability to do it.  So when Moslems try to persuade you that the word which is before you is not right then remind them that they as Moslems are calling their Moslems translators or clerics stupid idiots.  That you have more faith that the translators have got it right than they do.  Not only that but as you can see there are in fact 4 Translators.  There are countless online translations of the Koran online.  So far from the ones I have seen they do agree.

  1.  2x BEAT THEM,  (lightly)

How can you beat someone lightly?  Whoops dear I have broken your nose,

When questioned they will turn round and say this word actually means to “TAP” a women.  But how does this tapping fall into line with scourging and beating.  Clearly it does not.  So when they try to argue the point remind them that it is there translators who have phrased it this way.  If there are errors in their Koran then would those errors not have been sorted out long before now?  Why leave such an error in what is meant to be their holiest book or are they prepared to accept that the word in question is indeed correct.

 Let’s look at this story

Muslim iman beats wife while quoting the Koran

A Muslim imam who lectures on non-violence and advises the German government on interfaith issues has been arrested in Germany for beating up his wife.

Sheikh Abu Adam, 40, is now on remand in Munich while his wife, 31, is being guarded by police.

She was allegedly assaulted so badly that she suffered a broken nose and shoulder and numerous cuts and bruises.

Media reports claimed the woman, who has borne one of his ten children, wanted to live a more ‘western’ lifestyle and was allegedly attacked after telling her husband.

The police said they received a call from a lawyer hired by the victim.

Adam is alleged to have shouted a verse from the Koran at his wife as he beat her.

The line said: ‘Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them.

‘As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.’

The imam is said to have refused to let police officers into his home, but they forced their way past him because they feared the woman’s life was in danger.

Sheikh Adam is the Egyptian imam of the Darul Quran Mosque in Munich.

He is facing charges of causing grievous bodily harm and could face a jail term if convicted.

A week ago, he held a lecture at the city’s Catholic University entitled ‘An Islam which distances itself from violence’.

He also spoke at a recent conference called ‘meeting Islam in Europe’ and met German justice Sabine Leutheusser Schnarrenberger there.

Adam was assigned bodyguards on the outside because of his calls for Muslims to reject radical Islam. He is also being guarded while on remand from racist prisoners

The verse this iman uses is the verse above 4: 34.  I have no doubt that he reads his Koran in Arabic rather than in the English.  Now if he quotes that same verse as it does in the Koran.  Would not an Iman know what that verse actually says in the Arabic?  Sadly his wife also knows for he inflicted severe injuries on her.  So in reality we now have 5 translators who have translated that same verse the same way.  If the beating he gave his wife was a light tap goodness knows what a scourge would have looked like.  For this tap could get him jail time.

In a reply comment to this news one reader posted this.

There is no point in quoting anything a Muslim quotes from the quran as the other muslims say it is taken out of context, it’s a bad translation, you have to read it in Arabic to understand it and even that the word “beat” does not mean beat but to hit lightly with a stick the size of a toothbrush, They will not accept that violence is taught in the quran and if you suggest it is they attack you, which again is also part of the teachings.

Now I am unable to verify his experience or not.  But it goes to show the extent that some Moslems try to pull Rabbits out of hats.

Ask them this question.  Is the Koran the perfect revelation by Allah?  The answer should be yes.  Allah is capable of keeping this perfect revelation from being changed?  The Answer should be yes.

So why has this translation been translated incorrectly?  What has this perfect revelation got mistakes in it.  If they have to take you to another web site to give you an alternative translation then the one you have in your hand in English is incorrect and corrupted.
