The Koran talks about Jesus being taught the gospels

Surat ‘Āli `Imrān (Family of Imran

3: 47-48

Sahih International

She said, “My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?” [The angel] said, “Such is Allah ; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.

Muhsin Khan

She said: “O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me.” He said: “So (it will be) for Allah creates what He wills. When He has decreed something, He says to it only: “Be!” and it is.

Sahih International

And He will teach him writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel

Muhsin Khan

And He (Allah) will teach him [‘Iesa (Jesus)] the Book and Al-Hikmah (i.e. the Sunnah, the faultless speech of the Prophets, wisdom, etc.), (and) the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel).

Jesus is being taught something that was not even written yet.  How can Jesus be taught about himself before the men who wrote the gospels had even written them?

Luke: was a gentile who was the official biographer of the book of acts.  He would certainly have been saved after Jesus ascended up to heaven.  Luke also wrote the gospel of LUKE.  As a physician with a keen analytical mind Luke goes into a lot more detail than Mark does.  This gospel was probably written between  AD 58-60

Mathew:  A disciple of Jesus but again he never wrote his gospel till after Jesus ascended to heaven. This gospel was probably written between  AD 58-68

Mark:  It is believed that Mark may have been his surname, his common name being John.  (Acts 12: 12 13: 5 2 Tim 4: 11) speaks about how Mark came to be a very profitable servant to Paul.  Initially Mark travelled with Paul and Barnabas on their journeys.  But Mark was young and inexperienced.  There was a fall out between Barnabas and Paul.  Barnabas took Mark under his wings and Paul took Silias.  Paul and Barnabas went their separate ways. Mark gospel was written between AD 67-68

John: probably the youngest of the disciples and later apostle.  His approach to the Gospel is radically different from the other three.  It is believe he wrote his gospel about the year AD 90 in the city of Ephesus.

As you can see all of these gospels were written at different times.  Long after Jesus ascended to his father.

Now it is impossible for Jesus to be taught what had not been written yet.

 3: 55

Sahih International

[Mention] when Allah said, “O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allah alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ.

Muhsin Khan

And (remember) when Allah said: “O ‘Iesa (Jesus)! I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you [of the forged statement that ‘Iesa (Jesus) is Allah’s son] of those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you (Monotheists, who worship none but Allah) superior to those who disbelieve [in the Oneness of Allah, or disbelieve in some of His Messengers, e.g. Muhammad SAW, ‘Iesa (Jesus), Musa (Moses), etc., or in His Holy Books, e.g. the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), the Quran] till the Day of Resurrection. Then you will return to Me and I will judge between you in the matters in which you used to dispute.”

So why is God being a father so important?

Like all who disbelieve the truth we are presented by another contradiction.    To the Moslems Jesus being the “son of God” was nothing more than a forgery.  Now the whole of the gospels presents evidence from the lips of Jesus that God was his father.  They reject his words and so sadly they miss out, he is not their father.

 God as father:

Math 7: 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Math 10: 32-33 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.  But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Math 11: 25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

Mat 12: 50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Mat 11: 27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and [he] to whomsoever the Son will reveal [him].

Mark 14: 36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things [are] possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

Luke 2: 49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business

When Jesus parents came and found Jesus debating in the temple, his words were short and sharp.  They were amazed at his answer.  “I must be about my father business”

Now I could go on and probably fill more pages with references by Jesus as acknowledging God as his father.  But what does Jesus present God as his father and why does he start to include others in this as well?

God was bringing people into a new covenant and a new relationship.  Unlike the Koran that continues to present Allah as a God who holds man at a distance.  But the true God seeks to embrace his people as their father.

 New relationship with God.

Not as an angry God that is somewhere beyond the reach of man but a loving father who desire to embrace people as his own.  This again is why the temple in Jerusalem was eventually destroyed and the believer is now the temple of the living God.

Now this is important that you grasp this.  There was only one true son and that was Jesus.  But God intends to have many sons and daughters who will serve him and follow him.

Math 5: 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust

Math 5: 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect

John 1: 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:

1 John 3: 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Rev 22: 4 And they shall see his face; and his name [shall be] in their foreheads.

Rev 21: 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I WILL BE HIS GOD, AND HE SHALL BE MY SON.

 The spirit of sonship

Romans 8: 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Rom 8: 16-17  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:    And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together

God witnesses to us that we are indeed children of the living God. As Children our relationship is not one of fear.  Unlike the children of Israel who were terrified when God descended on mt Sinai.  But we can not just come to the mount of God but we are invited to come up and an join in the banquet which he has set before us,.  Come boldly we are told.  Enter into all that God has opened to us.  Can you see the wonder off this?  How incredible such an invitation.  We were aliens and stranger to God but now we have been invited to be a regular at Gods table.  Invited to be part of the family.  Join with all those who have gone before us.  Is this not something that should have us all rejoicing?  For the child stand up and with tears begins to realise that he belongs. He has a family, He has a name he has a home.  He is acknowledged as being family.  Wow!!!

God has placed his spirit within us.

This is what the gospel (good news) is all about.  We are being invited into a relationship which is both dynamic and revolutionary.  So that we can stand and declare God is MY FATHER.
