What is trance music?

Trance music has become a form of electronic dance music developed in the 1990,  It is characteristic by the tempo. There also seems to be different styles and combination which would be included as trance music.

However as the name implies Trance is linked to the ability of the music to induce altered states of consciousness and was used originally by the shamans during long periods of drumming.  For a further explanation on the subject Wikipedia encyclopaedia can be of great help.

Heather Clark: People cheered and the drums beat

In anyone’s language the dance was a mixture of primitive paganism and modern free style.  This was heather Clark at Lakeland.  Much of which was based around heavy drum beats.  Wearing a short sleeve tee shirt and jeans.  While sweaty profusely as she jumped around the platform strutting her stuff.  Much to the cheers of onlookers.

.  Let’s look at a couple of pointers.

  1. The crowd cheered to encourage her in what she was doing and for anyone’s knowledge this could have been at a football game after a winning goal.
  2. Heather danced to the rhythm of the beat and was reminiscing of a pagan dance.
  3. When heather Clark danced was there any gracefulness in her actions, or would we call it raunchy.  Was there a humility that uplifted Christ or a wild excitement?
  4. Did her dance glorified Heather or give glory to God?  I have no doubt it was Heather Clark who received the glory.  Her place as a so called worship leader was established.
  5. Were those who watched so impressed that they got down in their knees and praised God?
  6. The music was more akin to Hinduism than Christianity.
  7. As for what message she was trying to portray does anyone really know? It is totally open to any interpretation
  8. The shooting of the audience at the end was more akin to a video game. Or was it CHARLIES ANGELS?

Patricia King: the rave queen

Her background by her own admission was the new age.  My belief is that nothing has changed. The fruit she bears proves that. Her teachings are blatantly New Age and she openly refers to herself as a “New Mystic.”  Her most recent dalliance into neo-paganism comes with her promotion of “Ekstasis,” a form of trance dancing. Her itinerant pastor who doubles as a travelling DJ calls the show “Club Mysterio.”

  • Ekstasis (Ecstasy) is from the Ancient Greek, έκ-στασις (ex-stasis), means to stand outside of oneself or to be removed to somewhere else. Ekstasis worship or trance dancing is known to every pagan culture and is meant to bring the participant to a level of excitement called ecstasy. Trance Dance is a “healing tool” with its roots in many ancient cultures. It is practiced by Shaman.

There is nothing mysterious about it.

  • Now let’s listen as Patricia King describes trance dancing or “Ekstasis” on her website Extreme Prophetic.
  • “DJ Caleb Club Mysterio combines ekstasis worship, beats, electronic musical expressions, dance, prayer and a powerful prophetic flow to create a Christian rave experience. Club Mysterio is not a Night Club, it is a Light Club! This new expression of abandoned worship allows you to put feet to your faith as you dance and flow, pressing into the presence of God and experiencing the deep mysteries of intimacy with the Lord…the One who is truly worth raving about!”

Again the emphasis is on the music..  Not on God.  You come to experience an experience.  You fall under the hypnotic trance of the music.  You are then taken away to some an alternative realm beyond yourself.  This is nothing more than paganism.  The one place you will not go to is God.

Ben Dunn and Sloshfest

As Benjamin Dunn is the singer and worship leader at many of these concerts that why he gets the mention.  Here is what his web site has to say about himself.

  • The Shocking Truth Of What We Believe!  By Benjamin Dunn
  • Benjamin and Stephanie are absolute junkies for the Word of God! “

If that was a serious statement then he would be obedient to Gods call.  Further more he would be found rebuking his fellow occultist rather than joining them.  Nor would he be partaking with such antics as trying to TOKING the Holy Spirit.

  • They have a library of over 100 English Bible Translations and pour these colorful translations into every word that they speak. Benjamin has just finished his new book entitled “The Happy Gospel” published by Destiny Image. Their message is one of infinite grace and mystical union with Christ, bursting from the believer’s participation in Christ’s crucifixion, burial and resurrection.

They many have a library of English Bibles, but do they really read them?   People will often have Bibles sitting on shelves but that does not mean they  believe.

  • Here is an excerpt of Ben’s Book “The Happy Gospel”.
  • That is what this book is about– that scandalizing message of Christ’s Cross. It is about the shocking joy offered to us in the Gospel. It is about discovering a perfect salvation procured through Christ’s perfect sacrifice. In this book you will find what God truly requires of you and what He has provided for you.
  • You will without a doubt discover an effortless union with a happy God, for this is what the Gospel boldly offers to all who will believe it.
  • Does this sound foreign?
  • When you think of the Gospel, do you see it in such light and joy?

One of the many repeated phrases you come across is that these people have experiences something which they think is from God.  Upon which they immediately reject the Gospel truth as shared and explained in scripture.  They then embrace another radical off the wall preconceived gospel of experiential gibberish.  By Dunn own admission this preconceived gospel

Other wise it goes out to destroy any understanding of what you know as the true gospel for some psychedelic experience.  What sort of encounter would get you to immediately reject truth?

It’s this psychedelic Jesus is what they now embrace.  They now proclaim a message that actually mocks Gods word and rejects Gods truth, embraces practices which are clearly pagan.  Treats God like some junk head that takes delight in a people who actually claim to know nothing about anything.  Dave Vaughan who in one video promptly points to his stomach and claims this is where the Holy of holies exist.   Their so called drunkenness will lead to nothing more than greater blasphemy.   While it is true there is an experience which does come from another realm.  But that experience will always take you to the true God of the Bible.  A God which scripture will verify is in fact the true God of the Bible.   It will and can never take you away from the truth but always point you to it.

Benn Dunn Dave Vaughan John Crowder, John Scotland and many more would see themselves as the new rising mystics.

Sloshfest festivals

Again the culture is wild noisy and inappropriate.  Sweaty bodies gyrating to the music and swaying to the drum beat.

  • Ben Dunn leading worship in Sloshfest ’08 in the UK. This event exploded. A heavy glory presence just rested on us and many people were taken into visions and encounters with the Lord. Come on wild fire nation!

The fact that these people like to cloak their demon style music in Christian terminology does not mean that we should accept it as genuine Christianity. I have no doubt many might well have had visions and encounters of some kind.  But I can guarantee it will not be with God.

From a YouTube video filmed at Barry island Wales

Sloshfest 2010 Wild Tribal Punk Rock.  Benn Dunn and David Vaughan with his traditional monks costume could be seen in the video.  I say this because it is not always easy to tell if you are watching your average pagan dance club scene or the suppose trance dancing of the New mystics.  In my opinion there is no difference.  In the video the heavy drumming with everyone gyrating to the beat is clearly noticed.  The artist who is singing is virtually unintelligible against the noise of the drum beat.  But some words do become noticeable.  Such impressive words as “BBBBBB”   Sorry no interpretation as yet on the meaning.  Then we this drone of a voice repeating himself by saying  “IT A WILD SOUND”  I lost count how many times this was REPEATED.

If this was supposed to be a “Christian” worship I have seen pagans do it better.

WE ARE A WILD GENERATION AND YOU HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING YET!  THIS IS GOING TO GET WILD (repeated 2 or more times) Some garble about being a wild generation and a wild sound.

This is one song that is easy to learn.  Loud in drums and short on words.  At one point the slow rhythmic music begins to play faster.  I believe the words “A WILD PEOPLE” can be heard as people get caught up in the quickening pace of the music.  So the word “A WILD PEOPLE “ gets faster and faster. Does this glorify God or the flesh? Clearly God does not get a look in.  Yet these same people will go home and claim that God blessed them with some “anointing”.  The word” PUNK” can be heard at the end.  This was nothing more than the glorification of SELF.

Here is what two dictionaries have to say on the word PUNK

The word PUNK :is Slang for

  • Slang. A young man who is the sexual partner of an older man.
  • Archaic. A prostitute.
    • PUNK (noun)
The noun PUNK has 5 senses:
    • 1. an aggressive and violent young criminal
      2. substance that smolders when ignited; used to light fuses (especially fireworks)
      3. material for starting a fire
      4. a teenager or young adult who is a performer (or enthusiast) of punk rock and a member of the punk youth subculture
      5. rock music with deliberately offensive lyrics expressing anger and social alienation; in part a reaction against progressive rock

Take your pick!

The amalgamation of pagan and Christianity

One of the comments left by someone who watched the video states the obvious.

  • Where is Jesus in all this???? i dont hear is wonderful kingship being worshipped??? infact Hes not even mentioned??? very sad that Christians look like the old testament Israelites that worshipped Baal

The person in question actually sums this up very well.  How can you claim to have encounters with Jesus when Jesus is no way glorified or even taught?  When you use pagan practices which are clearly seen as being pagan, how can you then turn round and call it Christian?  It becomes quite obvious that these people can’t tell the difference.  Nor do they even care to make any difference.

Can we even call them Christian at all? I don’t think so.  They may lay claim to an experience.  They may lay claim to some form of testimony.  But being true born again brethren?  Highly unlikely.

When the children of Israel backslide and gradually embraced the pagan religions we can be left with the allusion that this was some clear cut separation between the religion of God and the religion of pagans.  The reality was that in many cases these two practices would often immerse together.  Many of those who offered their children to Dagon would also be at the temple offering an animal to Jehovah.  The separation that God taught Israel to observe when they came into the Promised Land was  short lived.    God called them to obedience just as he does to day.  But what we are seeing is blatant disobedience all in the name of God.  People are doing  exactly the same thing today.

  • Eze 20:38 “And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I [am] the LORD.”
  • Deut 18:10 “There shall not be found among you [any one] that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, [or] that useth divination, [or] an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,”

God had laid down some strict guidelines.  No sooner had they entered the Promised Land where those guidelines abandoned

  • Judges 2:13 “And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.”
  • 1 Kings 18:21 “ And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD [be] God, follow him: but if Baal, [then] follow him. And the people answered him not a word.”
  • 1 Kings 22:53 “For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.”

People do not realise that there can be no real mixture.  In the end you will serve one master or another.  Either you heart will walk with God and the truth or you will deviate towards the practices of Baal and Ashtoroth, or if you like modern day apostasy.

  • Jer 7:24 “But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels [and] in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.”
  • Jer 11:8 “Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded [them] to do; but they did [them] not.”
  • Jer 23:17 “They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.
  • Luk 1:51 “He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.”

Time after time God warns them not to walk after their own imagination.  He uses this term because many would think up their own ideas as to what practices they desired and then stuck the label of God on it.  In so doing they thought that this made it acceptable.  So that baal would be confused with the worship of Jehovah, The priests would encourage the people that Baal was really the true worship of their God.  Instead of obedience to the torah people would devise their own ideas.  There is nothing new being thought up today.

Here is one advert from a web site called Ekstasis dance. The author of the web site is called herself “Luna” As you will see what Patricia King, Heather Clark and others advocate is in fact the same form of paganism.

It is interesting that at many of these Sloshfest dance parties people come dressed in fancy dress.  I wondered about this until I realised that the spirit behind this is actually mocking God.  This is nothing more than a dare of Gods justice and a rape  his integrity.    A false paganism masquerading as Christianity.

Until we realise that just because someone sticks a label on something does not mean it is Christian.

How did we get to this extreme place of dance?

The Toronto Experience opened the door.

Now as you will realise that all the practices above existed long before the Toronto John Arnott and Rodney Howard Brown came along.  But the catalyst that made the unacceptable accepted started at the Toronto and then Brownsville and from there the rest of the world.   What was once kept either outside of the church, or at the far extreme of the charismatic movement moved into the very heart and soul of the church.  The Pandora’s Box had been opened and all the wickedness moved in.  A century ago the Christian church would have been struck with horror as to how quickly the Pentecostal movement has become pagan.  How quickly men who once named the name of Christ have become so removed from orthodox Christianity.    How quickly the church has become so experience orientated that just about any experience is embraced without even a hint of discernment being offered.   Blindness has overtaken many who claim to be part of the body of Christ,  My own personnel belief is they never were.

The great holiness movements are so backslidden that the word holiness no longer has any meaning. The term integrity is simply sold for a further thirty pieces of silver.  While men hold up a Bible they have long since abandoned any obedience to what it teaches.

The tragic reality is that those who mock God will one day have to face the God they mocked.  There will be no laughter then and no drunkenness to be seen.  They will all be sober on that day.  All the so called drunken glory acting will not impress God.
